  • Great tutorial, every other one about time remapping was needlessly complicated where this was clear and concise. Thanks a lot.

  • This is great, THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU!!!!

  • me xupa seu......

    sou do Brazil :D

  • Thanks :)

  • Great tutorial. This was exactly what I needed to know. Thanks :-).

  • Thanks for your help. = D

  • Thank you a lot, i was searching for a simple tutorial and this is exactly what i needed :)

  • Thank you, this helped me immensely. My video looks brilliant now.

  • So boring..wait...wait... Genius!

  • NEXT TIME, show us the 'remapped' video first, before starting the tutorial for us to see what TO do.

THUMBS UP FOR HIM TO SEE

    thanks!

  • hello

im having transition prolems. I keep getting repeated transitions.

i have read this as an answer but how do i do this?

....Try trimming the ends of the clips by 15 frames or so before you place the transition, and see how that works. Or trim only the second instance of the clip by at least the transition duration, and then place the transition to start at the cut.....

how do i do that? i have already made them into clips in the source panel.. .so how do i do take off 15 frames?

  • It would have been nice if you had played the clip at the end both fast forwarded and slowed down to see the end result of the remapping. Other than that though, great tutorial.

  • @moogle68 thanks. will keep this in mind for next time :)

  • Respond to this video... sorry about the clicking mouse effect it was part of the recording software and I think I stopped using it, as it was just annoying like you said. :)

  • great tute but whole crap at the loudest most annoying mouse ever haha

    Thanks though :)

  • good effect for porno movies in cum shots lol , joking

  • man, nice tut but you have iritating way of talking. stop talking to yourself all the time, its not good when youre mumbling sth under your nose in tuts. regards.

  • THANK YOU

  • Hi Jon, great tutorial, much appreciated! Thank you

  • did you make this video on a typewriter?

  • I love your accent and saying the keyframes are " guys " lol :D

  • good video is what i searching!

  • To the maker of this video: why you start the actual tutorial at 0:45? I dont have time for this long intro...and after you start talking about opacity and things like this...I fell aslepp and suddenly you change the topic and when I realised finally we are talking about what I came here for, you are in the middle iof it. Get you mind together and know what you gonna say before shooting next time, because this is a shit tutorial.

  • ah finally something wich does what I need. I'm downloading it right now.

I went to search some basic tuts on yt but couldn't find anything wich resembles the sony vegas speed controls. I hope it has the same time editing possibilities as vegas, I rlly need the interaction between after effects and pp. So I don't have to render everything individually, but I can't afford to lose a good basic editing base. I haz my finger crossed :D

  • You're the best, thank you!

  • great video

    thanks so much!

  • Thanks for the vid, it was a refresher for me but even more thorough and in-depth! It was just hard to tell when the video sped up and slowed down, cause the whole video was already a bit fast! lol But thanks again! :)

  • yeah aussie cunt

  • I have sound with my clip and it is separate from the video, how do I make the sound slow down aswell as the movie, because the sound is finishing before the video (when I slow down)....??

  • Thanks!

  • thanks, very useful.... and im a teacher!!!! i was in class and a student asked me... whats that time remapping feature for? and i was like 0_o i have no idea, but this video showed me and my student thinks im the greatest... :D

  • @andrestorres12 n1ce

  • @andrestorres12 eres docente de premier y no sabias remapear tiempo? deberia darte verguënza---

  • @traiano ay todos tenemos nuestros bachecitos

  • @andrestorres12 u shouldnt be a teacher

  • Top tutorial human. Concise and easy to follow video showing how to do stuff! AAAA

  • Thanks!!

  • perfectly explained, thankyou!

  • Your video was really helpful and everything (thanks!) but I don't like the blurb at the beginning and that i had to listen up until 4.43 just to get the 30secs worth of info :)

  • Comment removed

  • Nice tutorial but I think it would be a bit more effective with different footage. Something a little smooother. Maybe somebody jumping off the ground?

  • Very helpful, thanks for the tutorial!

  • Nothinng like taking the long way around in explaining. When a stranger asks you directions in your little corner o Australia, it must be torture for them.

  • we get the point...it started in CS3. How about 7 minutes of it's only in CS3 and higher.

  • thanks, i've managed it, but it doesn't really work if your clip has sound, what do you do then because the clip slows down with out the sound??

  • When the clip has sound you remap manually...simpleness. Seriously, it's easy. Just think about it. Seems like it would be a lot of work, but it's not.

  • explain in more detail...

  • yes i have the same question as dagaandreas

  • To change the speed of the audio with the video use time-remapping with After Effects.

You can slow down the audio in stages by cutting up and adjusting the speed/duration of each clip to simulate the effect of it gradually getting slower. But the function in PPro only affects the Vision.

    - JB

  • @aJBprods do you know how i can get After effects for mac?

  • thanks!! but i have one question. the audio from the video is still the same spees. any sugestion on how i can fix it?

  • @aJBprods i dont got after effects so what should i do ?

  • Thanks for making this. It helped me.

  • ye but how about audio ?

  • Sadly the Time Remapping in PPro does not work with the audio. You would need to use the Time Remapping in After Effects for that control.

    - Jon Barrie

  • I thank you

  • thanks so much! had NO idea what those stupid handlers meant

I like how u add in the little short cuts like Ctrl click to add keyframe. good tips!

    keep it up!

    aussie aussie :D

  • thanks a lot

    Very usefull

  • very usefull tutorial!!!! thanx....

  • i really needed to learn how to do ramped slo mo... thanks SO MUCH

  • yeah me to

  • Thanks a lot! Great help!

  • Is there any reason or examples of why we would want to use time remapping as opposed to adjusting speed the regular way?

  • Regular speed/duration adjusting is a snap to this speed look. And that might be all you need. The benefit of remapping is that the speed can smoothly adjust from one value to the next. (using the keyframes and widening the keyframe.

ie:100% to 200% smoothly transitioning instead of snapping to material going twice as fast.

  • How do you adjust speed the regular way? Thanks in advance :)

  • Right click on the clip in the timeline and select speed/duration (PC=Ctrl+R, Apple=Cmd+R).

    - JB

  • ramped slow mo! thank you

  • thank you!

  • Thanks so Mutch You help Me soo Mutch :)

  • thank you ur video is great , but how about audio remapping, is there anyways u can do that for audio too?

  • that helped loads :) though one question, is it possible to match the audio of the clip to be remapped?

  • That's also something I wanna know. I love the effect in most skate videos where the audio progressively slows down along with the video. Gives it a real sense of a smooth transition between speeds of the clip.

  • I was wondering that to.

  • This tutorial helped me out a ton. BUT I can't handle the mouse click sounds and I felt it's very slowly paced. Still, thank you so much.

  • -.-

  • ô¿ô

  • Hi Jon - Your tutorial has saved a great deal of time and enable me to solve a problem that would have cost me a lot of money and time. Thanks very much. I agree with you that CS3 is a great program - very different from the old Premiere 6 and earlier. Paul

  • i can't get this program work for me. i have intel core 2 quad q9550,4gb ram, geforce 9800GT,1TB HDD. and adobe premiere doesn't work,it loads and then crashes. i tried premiere pro 7 cs3 and cs4.the same thing. google doesn't help me. all the adobe products work well on my pc,except premiere.

  • yeah and you bought them all eh.....

  • nope,i crack'em.but before i don't know what,they all worked just fine.

  • How can i ramp the audio with it?

  • thankyou this helped me a lot, you're very good at cs3

  • Great video

  • thx for the tutorial.

  • Cozy. One of the most professional tutorials I've ever seen on Premiere Pro. Very clear graphics (which most people failed to produce), good keyboard shortcut tips, seamless tutorial, and the mouse clicks just add to the lucid warmth of computer technology! Thanks

  • After trying CS3 Time Remapping on the clip (slowmotion) my video clip is shorter than audio clip..How do I make them insync? Thanks!

  • If its music you can try slowing it down. If its speech you just have to cut some out or edit it separately.

  • Hm, this seem good, how does this sound compared to AE CS3 ramped slow mo?

  • haha same thing im thinking

  • i thought you could edit the sound like you can do it in after effects... but now i've read time remapping doesn't include the sound. nevertheless tanks ;)

  • hey dude very good tutorial. but what's up with the sound?

  • what is up? sounds fine.

  • he probably means how you can edit the sound

  • very nice tutorial. helped a lot. thanks.

  • audio?

  • This would have been very useful for the music video I made recently.

  • wow Thanks alot for this

    very helpfull

  • i relly need help with changing the audio at the same time!!!!!

  • what about audio as well?

  • If the two are linked then this will have an effect on the audio. I think, I've not used CS3.

  • Thanks Great TUT!

  • Thanks alot for the tutorial.

  • Great video, very helpful!

    Nice work.

  • Thanks Jon, is there a way to reverse time from a certain point, and start playing again? Sort of a ping pong effect if u get what I'm saying.

  • Sure, in speed/duration tick the reverse box. I would have the clip I want in forward, copy that and paste it after the original. Select Speed/Duration then hit the reverse tick box. The edit should play forward and backward now. past the copied original again after the reversed one and it should all play back fwd, back, fwd like a ping pong effect.

    - Jon ;)

  • thanks, ill try it out.

  • thanks for taking the time to make this video - fantastic work - can't wait for more stuff

  • Thankyou! Fellow Aussie I see :)

    Collasally helpful!!

  • Thanks for posting!

  • Nice man! tks a lot....but how can I time remapping the sound to??

  • thanks jon, rele good for making arkour videos... thankyou very much

  • hey John this was a very helpful video but I still cannot figure out how to sync the video with audio when I time-remap

  • At this stage CS3 doesn't support audio timeremapping. That will need to be done in After Effects where this effect originally came from.

    ;)

  • Hi, excellent easy to understand vids, thank you. I am new to CS3 and would like audio tutorials, (ie, filtering out noise with music from a band). There are a lot of filters, frequency stuff! etc. An overwiew of audio would be good, thanks. I am in the uk, your vids are insperational keep em coming.

  • Thanks dude! I just got a uni assignment using Director - into which I must import A custom video file. I had the idea to film the halls of my uni and play the crazy frog sound. When the sound accelerates and decelerates I needed my video to follow-suit! This is just the job. Your an inspiration to many...

    Thanks

  • thanks so much man!

  • thank you john barry

  • Thanx pal, helped me a lot :) keep up the nice work

  • you're welcome. more coming.

  • Thanks alot mate ;)

  • Thank you sooooooooooooooooo much!!!!!! this video was so useful!

  • Damn I 7.0, this don't work for me...

  • o.O didn't he say in the VERY beginning, "this only works for cs3 because it is a new feature."

  • Yes he does. Thats why I can't do it in 7.0.

  • Thanks for these tutorials, i only got this software 3 days ago and i have to edit a whole short film together for film studies!

I was totally confused at first, but these tutorials really help.

  • hey that is is very cool tutorial nice job.

please tell me is there any cool and powerfull soft. same as adobe for SOUND EDITING?

  • Adobe have one of the best audio editors "Audition" check it out.

    - Jon ;)

  • Yes - Audition has a realy freaky facility to speed up or slow down speech without changing pitch - very effective if used carefully.

  • Do you happen to know what types of music files

    CS3 accepts?

Mp3's do not seem to be supported.

Tks for the vids as well!

  • helped me a lot!!

  • can time remapping be done with After Affects CS3?

  • Yep. That's what this is based on. Time Remapping has been in After Effects for many versions/years. There are plenty of tutorials out there on it.

    - Jon :)

  • ok thanks

does the audio work with the time remapping on after affects?

  • yep, in cs3 it does.

  • Nice tutorial, but what I miss though is how to slow down or sped up the audio of a sequence with it. Is that possible? If so, Could you make some tutorial for that too, would be nice :)

  • Sorry the audio is not affected by the timeremapping. That would have to be done in a professional audio application like ProTools or Audition.

    - Sorry, Jon

  • big mistake not making the audio change with the remap of the video in premiere pro cs3. however, you can still use after effects for this. then dynamiic link it, or import the exported remapped video from after effects into premiere.

  • There seem to be a lot of issues like this with PP CS4 that I really hope get worked out with a patch. Another issue that's affecting my work is the fact that I cannot get this static matte to work as a tracke matte.

  • love how Premiere and AE are slowly converging

  • Yeah. They're a force to be reckoned with...
