  • nothing stops them except a merger....

  • CAN YOU TELL ME WHY RAILROADS QUIT USING THE STRATO LIGHTS ON THE ROOF OF THEIR LOCOMOTIVES? AT 4:02 THE PAN FOR THE STRATO IS STILL VISIBLE ABOVE THE RIGHT NUMBER BOARD BUT THE LIGHT HAS BEEN REMOVED... NOBODY KNOWS THIS SO I WAS HOPING YOU COULD HELP ME OUT... THANK YOU

  • That facing point crossover was a real blessing to have there. Normally you would have to back a whole train up to x-over in ATSF DT (rule 251) territory. Also new track material was already staged, so they could begin immediate replacement of the BO ties. Looks like the draft gear go ripped out too. Along with your help in transporting the crew, looks like the "right place, Right time" for this to happen. Good job.

  • @ats90mph Yes, right place, right time. Too bad a lot of crews these days would rather give the international salute instead of a wave.....:(

  • I've had couplers shear the coupler pins before, and it causes a lot of damage. Great video of it :-)

  • to bad they had to go

  • Nothing stops the SF...except a busted drawbar...arrggg!! I was a conductor for the Can Pac (Soo Line Div) out of Mpls/St. Paul in the late 90's, best job I've ever had!! Lots of action, great people, great fun and many stories to tell. Wish I was still there. Thank you Lord for indulging my greatest wish, working for a railroad....OK back to TV broadcast engineering...blah (be sure to stick out your tongue when you say BLAH)...sigh.

  • Nice job catching the old Santa Fe, bro. Grew up with SP and ATSF; what a shame that they're gone.

  • MAN! that drawbar got RIPPED out its socket lol!!

  • nothing like a screaming bluebonnet doing 80 across the badlands... great video!

  • Ya know....I'm waiting for someone to actually rob a train again...seems we never hear of any train robberies anymore.

  • Great video of some classic Santa Fe action.

  • Excellent video! Audley is a beautiful place to catch trains.

  • I love that K3LA doppler effect on the fast mover.

  • hi-ballin :)

  • making "noise for the boys".

  • Nothing stops the Santa Fe! Except Burlington Northern.

  • LOL, trains passing the stopped train

  • The Santa Fe was a lot better when it was seperate from BN!

  • @skinnyshit8888 no kidding BNSF's paint scheme is fruity

  • @skinnyshit8888 true that!

  • @skinnyshit8888 I hired on the BNSF, AT&SF, post merger and you are correct my friend. Santa Fe was a great road and it was tainted by the BN. No offense to the BN but I guess its better than being consumed by the UP.

  • @skinnyshit8888 Damn, I hate oldfarts.

  • @fatcat1285 old? i'm 18!

  • @skinnyshit8888 oh, lol

  • WOW How Convenient!

  • Must of been a serious mess. Liked how the GP60 laid on the horn.

  • Very nice! That's cool how the GP60 just laid down the horn.

  • Great video!!! Brings back memories!! As a former SP engineer I've been in similar incidents. Getting a knuckle is bad enough but draw bars are a bitch!! Lucky they were in double track territory !

  • wow wen u say broke in half u really mean broke in half. lol. wow. i never seen that b4.

  • wow must have been scary for that train crew how did this happen?

  • Youch! That could have been so much worse!

  • Wow great video. I would like to know how the got that fixed up.

  • Man, when the Santa Fe boys get a draw bar, they really get one!!

I work for U.P. & thanks for posting video of this vintage.

  • The Santa Fe was my favorite railroad.....miss 'em. But Uncle Pete is a helluva' road man! I love your guys' equipment! And they are VERY kind to museums (unlike BNSF!). ^_^

  • Love the horn on that first passing train. That's cool that they let you hang around and film.

  • I gave a ride to the head man back to the break from the locomotive since it was so far back. The division super ended up sending me a belt buckle, letter of recognition and put a short story about the incident and the "railfan helper" from New York in the division newsletter.

Got to love the "old days".

    Tim

  • AND YOU DIDN"T GET VIDEO OF IT HAPPENING? Turn in your railfanning card :)....seriously, glad you were there to help brothers out in a very disolated area and staying with them...

  • damn tim, that all I can come up with. Daaaaaamn!
