@ARF1LMS Firstly you press the door open button, then the alarm button (if it works) for 2 minuites or so, then you wait 30 seconds for a reply and continue this for some time. Then if no one is there you will have to pry open the doors, they may open slightly and you will have to be careful too incase you break the circuit for the lift to move again. Then you dial 112 if you don't know where you are.
I always carry a book and/or my laptop with me for exactly this reason. Elevators have a tendency to want to trap me, but fortunately most of the ones I get stuck in have alarms.

Not really. This lift is rearly used and the hospital is completely almost empty with about 10 people in the entire whole hospital. Some one got stabbed here in the back near where this was filmed and it leads towards a little alley to the park.
But the lifts were installed around 15 years ago but modernised. Evans was taken over in 2000 so this must be older than that. But they said it was so stiff. If you watch my Death Trap Evans Elevator at St.Georges hospital you would see why I got stuck in it.

Yes,They have power generators if so that happpens like this. when he lift goes up and down the hydraulic power unit generates power when motor spins and recharges the bettery.
My nan was telling me about a recent visit to Basingstoke Hospital where the power went out and people got stuck in the lifts. She was on her way out and was going to get in the lift but decided not to bother with it at the last minute
Did you get out by normal means (i.e,the lift sorted out and it moved to the floor) or did they they lower it manually? On hydraulic lifts there is a tank of oil. The pump,pumps the oil into a cylinder to make the lift go up and down. There is a level to allow the oil to flow back into the tank to lower the lift in an emergency. Good job you didn't need the toilet!

well that was just 5 mins after I got stuck when I started the video, I wasn't that mad but at the end I could hear people but since I was recording I was holding the camera so I couldn't phone the police because my phone had no siginal! and at the end I did shout and a man who worked there told me someone heard me in the lift so they went to get him.
