  • Dilla's productions could just go on forever in my opinion. Like if I had to have any song stuck in my head it would have to be Jay Dee man straight running, sleeping, eating and living music. Nottz is nice. I don't know any of his music nor anything about himself but he turned the sample into his own track and its the way how he wanted it so I can't argue with that.

  • @ManFromOverThere Agree with your comment. I like Dilla's slightly more because it's so, sooo smooth and natural. I really feel like I could see a band actually playing Dilla's loop live. It's ridiculous

  • I am a mad Dilla listener, but Nottz won this one haha.

  • Both are legends .... I just prefer Notts on this one. Respek !

  • Dilla. nottz raw though

  • But dollar was on his death bed producing donuts so its kind of uneven. But I do like dillas best...felt some kind of emotions in it

  • You can't hate on someone's opinion because its an opinion....

  • Nottz

  • dilla dilla dilla dawg

  • Nottz is better but knowing the story behind Dillas version and the condition he was in when he made it you can't really compare these two

  • Can't choose love both records

  • Both dope. This is what hip hop beats need to sound like. this is hip hop.

  • I totally agree with @metooblueshoes! Dilla's version was still raw and unrefined. No producer, besides Madlib and ?uest can really bring that gritty and sloppy sound and make the end product sound as smooth as can be. Hats off to Jay Dee on this one amongst the thousands out there... And FYI, Tupac would still have murdered alotta new cats in any rap battle...

  • NoTTZ

    Both dope tho

  • dilla hands down. i got that instrumental and his beat tape with this on it

  • Dilla no contest

  • @ManFromOverThere seems almost like a copy with pro tools elements. i like dilla's better. more gritty. more hip hop

  • Nottz... but I think both beats are a little boring

  • I like dilla's better. It's not sped up to the point where it's too high pitch. Nottz chops it up in a more complicated way, but I don't think it works with the sample.

  • nottz take this one but like others said one is finished and one isnt

  • J Dilla hands down !

  • Nottz!

  • nottz took it baby im sorry. dilla you always cool but you can't win em all just cuz you gone bro. thats like letting tupac win every battle cause he dead.

  • J Dilla for the win!!! RIP

  • DILLA DAWG!

  • love dilla but the notttz one just grooves more.

  • hard one..Nottz is a beast..but I gotta give it to Dilla

  • cool debate so far.

I see people hating others opinion though ....

To each his own opinion. Hip Hop brings us all together so let's enjoy no matter what whoever thinks.

  • Love Dilla, but to be fair, I think Nottz got it. C'mon. Dilla didn't really do a lot to this to make it his. I know about the hospital bed, but we are comparing beats, not health. Nottz gets it because I dig the horns.

  • @Blazinnig For what exactly? Did I say something controversial, something "insensitive", or just something with which you disagree?

  • Only reason WHY Nottz even knew about this sample is because it came after Dilla! Youall are talking about someone who had all of his faculties, produced in his own studio, who probably took hours to create this VERSUS a legend who, FROM HIS HOSPITAL BED, created this probably in about 15-20 mins.. DILLA. Hands down. (& gideonsuitebread, I feel u)

  • Dilla.

  • both killer........ omfg ;) wink from south west germany 8)

  • Wish there was an instrumental to the Nottz beat, but I REALLY like it! Love Dilla, but I'm feeling the Nottz beat.

  • Nottz Joint has More Bounce 2 It. Like Both tho.

  • Dilla willbe Dilla forever , but, now I prefer Nottz

  • Nottz collab-ed with Dilla.....u can't stop Dilla Dawg...and this was unfair truly unfair

  • No disrispect, but you cant versus with a dead artist, thats not fair..specially if its Dilla!!no matter how hard you try, you will never get on his level..try something with Madlib,or Doom, for example..found a crew like SV,with a man like Baatin..see what i mean ?!..anyway i luv your beats, keep em banging

  • Nottz

  • TOUGH STUFF !!

  • Props to Dilla but Nottz killed this

  • yall fucked up for trying to even compare anyone to Nottz let alone the late great J Dilla, let me learn yall niggaz, Jay Y (dilla) he did what he did for hip hop.. respect that..he'z gone. He also was A nottz fan dumb ass niccaz, Why you think they was on the same shit as far as our music. no such thing as better just play your part. but NOttz is by far the baddesst muthafucka on beatz flat out dead or alive.

  • All three gotta give it to all three sorry. I love them

  • Dilla added nothing to the original sample....he's dope but fuck....that Nottz joint knocks...

    Nottz no question...

  • J Dilla fliped it way better he kept the old school style but made it rapable

  • Nottz is a beast! J Dilla is incomparable (unless your Madlib) as far as flipage goes. Though I give it Nottz.

  • nottz, cause it's more uptempo

  • Nottz is fantastic, and I love the way he raps on the track, but Dilla flipped it better. RIP.

  • ooh weee that is a hard one both of them are HOT.

  • dilla hands down!! r.i.p the g.o.a.t - jay dee

  • *vid

  • very dope idea for a youtube bid

  • Nottz is nuts. Much Respect. But Jay Dee got this one. Home town you know. A str8 up hypnotic beat.

  • Dilla always kept that funky swing on the beats, neckbreakin, rip

  • Nottz...love the Dilla beat but i prefer Nottz in this one cause it's arder and better to spit a rhyme

  • Dilla is classical ! But Dilla makes beats to listen to.. Nottz is just a hardcore hiphop beatmaker.. if i needed a beat to spit on.. i would use NOTTZ his version..

    But still.. RESPECT DILLA

    RIP DILLADOG

  • Dilla is and will always be amazing but i like nottz on this one

  • NOTTZ

  • DILLA ALL THE WAY ~

  • nottz got this i like dillas version tho

  • goin with Nottz on this one

  • DILLAA!

  • Nottz got this. Dilla R.I.P he is the greatest

  • J Dilla. RIP Dilla.

  • NOTTZ DID THAT

  • luv dilla but Nottz got this jam

  • im bais to dilla dawg .....but i like nottz too

  • Nottz

  • duh

  • J Dilla

  • THERE BOTH DOPE BUTT IM FEEL'N THE NOTTZ VERSION.

  • Nottz

  • nottz fo sho

  • Hands down Nottz! Because he actually sampled it to make a beat. Dilla did absolutely nothing but speed it up.

  • @CALISTRUTN

Get your damn ears checked my son if you think that Dilla did absolutley nothing but speed it up. I guess you know nothing about music production.

  • @MAR1THOUSAND

Get my ears checked??? Your prob some fake ass who only praised Jay Dee after he passed away. I have an MPC in my house brotha what you got? And yes he did NOTHING. He added a few drums on some songs but thats it. Listen to the song on this video. He did FUCKING NOTHING. He speeded it up and chopped it up with repeated loops. It's dope but do not praise.

  • @CALISTRUTN it's worrying that you have an mpc yet such a deluded view of hip-hop. what constitutes doing nothing? this is art not sport, its all about the end product, not the method. and Dilla's beat bangs if you deny that you're a fucking tool.

  • i would've said Nottz, but i just read a comment below that said Dillaz version was unfinished, but Nottz did a great job on this

  • Dilla's U-Love was pre-production work. A lot of Dilla's work is being compared from Donuts, made from his death bed. No lyrics, no engineering. That real raw cassette shit. Even the song "Bye" was unfinished, but when it came out on Dilla's "The Shining" album, the song "So Far To Go" Feat. Common and D'Angelo, was complete. Compare that. NOTTZ is a Dilla fan. Please, no more comparisons from Donuts cause he's still flipping it better from a state of ill health. R.I.P J Dilla.

  • @gideonsuitebread TOTALLY AGREE

  • Nottz

  • Tie on this one. Because both beats actually emote different feelings. Thumbs up on both

  • both are grate beats that are impossible to compare, dillas was expiremental and nottz was an actual song.

  • Dilla

  • cant compare them unless you compare albums

  • Peace to J Dilla, but shit, Nottz without a doubt, those horns are crazy, n its just got more overall flavor. Dillas becomes too redundent. Both are great though.

  • Nottz

  • dilla forever, but this one goes to Nottz

  • Dilla kept it most the way it originally was. Nottz totally transformed it into something else.

I enjoyed Nottz version better, and this is coming from a HUGE Dilla fan!

  • nottz is just mixed better

  • Nottz(z) even close!

  • nottz nice but dilla over rated !

  • @lilskills721 Dilla overrated??? How so? He revolutionized the beat making game for real.

  • @lilskills721 first off dilla is not overrated, and second off you can't even spell overrated...

  • @COLDLEGISTICS maybe i said that wrong nottz is nice but dillas a savage

ps: i did spell it right it was just spaced lol

  • Damn,Nottz, you just went over dilla's level to me,dilla you still the best ever

  • im a big dilla fan. dilla originally grabbed the sample, but Nottz murdered it

  • My guess is nottz never woulda touched this sample if it wasnt for dilla.

  • both flips are nice but i got to say Nottz

  • NOTTZ

  • Dilla's U-Love was pre-production work. A lot of Dilla's work is being compared from Donuts, made from his death bed. No lyrics, no engineering. That real raw cassette shit. Even the song "Bye" was unfinished, but when it came out on Dilla's "The Shining" album, the song "So Far To Go" Feat. Common and D'Angelo, was complete. Compare that. NOTTZ is a Dilla fan. Please, no more comparisons from Donuts cause he's still flipping it better from a state of ill health. R.I.P J Dilla

  • NOTTZ got this. sorry yal he put more into the sample

  • Dilla, I like both, but I like Dilla's flip better

  • both were good, but how good like work would these two guys work togeter?

  • No question, Dilla all day!

  • Nottz hands down. and i'm the hugest dilla fan in the world and biased as fuck. cat deny this join. dilla had limited equipent thoug. but still nottz!!

  • Nottz gave it more of a knock then Dilla with this track so it goes to Nottz.

  • @cbmuzik you know, beats arent judged by their knock. Damn, beats arent supposed to be judged. Each dude did their thing with the sample and have their own style and sample. I like what Dilla did with the sample, like he said: "I try to find mistakes in songs, and with these "mistakes" i make the beat after" (something like that)

  • @polidosk8

It;s just my opinion and feeling on it. But many people agree with the monotony of 9th Wonder chemistry. He kills some beats because the sample allows for his style, and on other beats he doesn't bring it. That's true of EVERY beatmaker. So my viewpoint doesn't take away from 9th's influence on hip-hop or on your like of his music. Just enjoy bro...

  • @cbmuzik Word!

  • There's a mistake in the description this song is made By Jerry Butler Not Jeff Butler

  • @Pivvik yess thank you I didn't notice my mistake , I'll put the right name.

  • Dilla can make you cry so he wins hands down

  • I've been debating this in my head since Nottz album dropped! Still undecided. Dilla's joint almost made me shed a tear when he passed and the Nottz joint is my favorite cut on his album. Mayer Hawthorne killed the hook! (plus I got a serious soft spot for the "New Day" drum break).

  • J Dilla

  • dilla, nottz shit is dope but why homeboy used the sample after dilla fucked with it? lol respect Rip Dilla!!!!

  • Dilla - more emotional, mellow

    Nottz - mo firah

they both went in on this but that Nottz track sounds crazy hot

  • nottz straight up.

  • damn i only knew the dilla version which had me infatuated, but on the real nottz KILLED THIS 1... damn both beats are nice, fuck the who flipped it better i'd merk both!

  • Respect to the late great but Nottz takes this one

  • dilla fo sure

  • Dilla got this. He kept it original and sounded clean. To much noise and shit going on in Nottz beat.

  • DILLA MY MAN BUT NOTTZ DESTROYED THIS SHIT!!!!!

  • Nottz filtered that sample flawlessly

  • Jay Dee is my boy, but I'm going with Nottz on this one

  • i love that dilla version, but ima go with nottz on this one. with mayer hawthorne too. what... haha. ill.

  • i love that dilla version, but ima go with nottz on this one.

  • has to be dillz coz no1 else would have even thought of doin it like THISSSS!!!

  • I give it to Nottz!

  • @coconut07011 Couldn't have said it better myself

  • oo oh i like all 3 versions! the OG, nottz and dillas

  • Both

  • Dilla all day, Nottz version doesn't really do anything for me. There's a raw soulful element to Jay Dee's cut, the arrangment is more potent to.

  • i think nottz got it

  • @TheBrainfood more like a fresh glazed donut on a sunday morning vs a blueberry bagel with cream cheeese on a weekday thats how id differ the two

  • DILLA

  • NOTTZ got this .

  • Nottz got that one

  • well, Nottz heard dillas and did he is own version, plus the drums which he used were also from a dilla track. ima rep for dilla as long im alive so of course ima be biased. Nottz did his thing though.

  • @TheSinghFIRE dont u recognize the kick snare nottz used, isley brothers my man ,dilla used same drum sample for wont do ,idk nottz ,dope as fuck funky fresh n the flesh ,but i think dilla has more emotion and would be very hard to rap over dillas joint ,i could hear maybe talib mos def accomplish it maybe

  • @MrGrelis17 he didnt freak the footsteps in the dark again, he lifted it straight from won't do. you can tell. dilla shared the same technique which q-tip and ali shaheed muhammed used for the early ATCQ in layering drums. nobody else does it there way thats why there drums sound so unique. but of course dilla had his own dimension to spicing up his drums.

  • @TheSinghFIRE woah ur right the drum nottz uses are from wont do ,relayered drums maybe sorta of an homage to dilla ,i know dilla changed the key root on the drums ,and probably alot of other things ,already layered ,nottz just repatterned the drums ,your right!!!

  • @MrGrelis17 ya dig, it was genius how dilla did shit like that with his drums. nottz's track still sounded crazy dope.

  • @TheSinghFIRE they need a class called j dilla 101

  • @MrGrelis17 lol ill enroll with that straight away.

  • @TheSinghFIRE im just ssayin i wish there was a way step by step on how producers make kick n snares ,for instance atcq ,de la peeps like that ,9th got his own dilla got his own damu makes his own outta real drums ,i know in boom bap real boombap from the 90s at least , they add feed back compression ,bass ,,fx, sometimes doubling up two differetn snares for instance to make a different sound ,i guess its a matter of experimentation ,im ccurrently learning how to use protools and the mpc 2000

  • @MrGrelis17 thats a good set up. i got a minimal setup in reason5, sonar 8,sonysoundforge and a casio keyboard LOL. those dudes you mentioned sampled most of their drums. you could just get a sp1200 which im looking to get for cheap, even though thts shit is damn near impossible. its not what you got but how you use it i suppose. i want to get logic pro as i just had a like a 2 year music course using cubase and logic pro. and damn is it dope. we should send beats backnforth like they used to do

  • @MrGrelis17 i would take that class

  • @MrGrelis17 If you need a class for that you must be musically challenged :P

  • love Dilla to death but this goes to Nottz. better all-around production. his new album is fresh as hell

  • Totally different styles. Dilla's I like more, Nottz sounds more forced. But Nottz's flip is better for a full track.

  • aint no best they both are hot

  • Nottz hit the slap beat. Dilla got that pre Eq'ed sound so clean. they both are better than the other in different aspect. imo mix em together that shit would knock

  • i'd like both

  • Nottz beat is better, for starters it is a beat and not just a speeded up loop....

  • Nottz

  • @jsun3000 your so right J i apologize....but the last part where you said'' what kinda...'' with all due respect sir suck my dick...but the other part i was speeding thnx for pointing that out

  • both beats are classic but i think Nottz killed his flip of this. i listen to it everyday.

  • RIP Dilla... Love Dilla, but NOTTZ is it right now... Nothing like it..

  • I'm gonna say Dilla just because I prefer the drums on flip. Both great uses of the sample.

  • One day Dilla another day Nottz. They both win :p

  • we all know what most are going to say. dilla could have recorded himself taking a crap over some drums and people would pick it over a nottz beat. and dillas isnt exactly a full beat so its not really fair in that sense either but if i had to pick one i'd say nottz.. just more elements to the sound. could do without that space fart sound at 1:40 though lol. nottz almost needs to fake his own death to get some recognition from the average hip hop enthusiast. both are pure genius though

  • well dillas version actually wasnt a beat...it was a puzzle of diffrent ideas so i wouldnt even compare but dilla and nottz probaly is the best tht ever did it in hip hop

  • DILLA hand down

  • Dilla gots my vote!

  • I like Nottz but it's Dilla hands down. Nottz' version may be soundwise better, but Dilla's version has so much soul you can feel it deep in your heart, especially if you hear the Butler sample repeating "i love you"

  • Nottz Bodied that R.I.P. to Dilla tho.i wish niggas stop dick riding a dead man

  • @TERIYAKITEQ u sound extra ignorant.Nobody's dick riding.J DILLA is a legend,and legends are remembered.What kind of idiot are u?

  • Nottz thinks as J Dilla as a legend so.........J always wins

  • ah my damn! I did not know nottz sampled that song! Cant forget Dilla, but I got to give this one to Nottz! RIP Dilla

  • DILLA...nuff said

  • I like Nott'z

  • dam nottz.......never heard that joint. but i will say both syles are diffrent. i say both did their thing.

  • @kingsoems yeh man, It's off his new album : ''you need this music''

I truly recommend this album to any hip hop heads.
