I think back then conditions were a lot worse and it caused more people to come out and protest, and things were much quicker to become violent. Today, the economy is bad, but not nearly as bad as they were in the 1930s, so the protests of today are not as widely adapted or accepted. If our economy continues to decline the way it has been, then I could easily see the protests being more widely accepted.

In general, the American people responded to the depression with remarkable patience and even good humor. The crash caused the nation to sober up. The selfish greed of the twenties was replaced by a concern for others. Those who had little shared with those who had less.
