  • kevin devine?!?!! :O

  • I wonder if you people realize...

Brand New is a BAND! <----- Not a solo project. So Brand New is King.

And Jesse Lacey happens to be the singer aka. Center of attention :D

    give everyone respect :D

    Brand new is God

  • I was here. Weird. It feels like soooo long ago now. I remember EVERYONE was pissed off that they only played songs from the devil and god.. lol

  • @xblackcigarette pissed off? i'd pay to see brand new sing a nursery rhyme

  • lol i see you kevin devine

  • this is my fav song on "god and the devil are raging inside me"

  • @SeanTMonty that's The Devil and God Are Raging Inside Me

  • I'm Limousine. I'm come from Limousin in France. it's funny! I like a lot Brand New. I've known them from an english friend . I don't know if they have a lot of fans in France but I hope they will be coming here one day . I 'd like to go to a brand new 's concert!

  • when i saw them they never rocked out during this song. he just sang it calmly the whole time. for some reason it was the more intense, heavy, dark, and beautiful than the original. cant explain why. it just was

  • Sadest song I ever heard

  • i wonder if jesse realises how good his songs are.

  • he says he doesnt care about how good the song is but how it makes people feel. he says if it makes you feel something then its just as good as it should be

  • and that's why his music means something to me. more musicians need that sort of attitude.

  • @nickfromdtown1992 i cry when i listen to this song thats how good it is

  • the first time i heard it, it gave me chills. then i found out what its about. now i can hardly listen to it the whole way through because im afraid ill just break down

  • Can somebody tell me which fender is Jesse using?

  • I believe it's a 72' thinline telecaster.

  • looks like a telecaster thinline, not sure what year though.

  • it is a '72 Telecaster Thinline.

looks very similar to the '69 Tele thinline but the pick ups are different.

VERY nice guitar at a pretty good price, saving up for one myself.

  • Hey, look, Jesse Lacey.

  • is that kevin devine inthe back?

  • No it's Derrick Sherman

  • No it's Kevin Devine.

  • yeah thats kevin for sure

  • love the bow on the guitar towards the end

  • deff one of brand news most emotional songs. he stops at seven. marking the seven people involved in the accident...

  • actually he stops at seven as that was the age of katie....the 7 year old bridesmaid who lost her life in the limo

  • she was only 4

  • no she was def. 7

  • or 6 i mean. he says it in the beginning of the song

  • JESSE LACEY IS 'KING'

  • is this song about that little lass in america in that car crash ?

  • Yes.

  • is this song about that little lass in america in that car crash ?

  • hey kevins there!

  • what does religon have to do with any of brand news music? or music in general...

jesse's religon is music thats all you guys have to know.

  • oh my fucking god

    you guys are all retarded

theyre not a christian rock band in the least

    have you heard their lyrics?

    know what youre talking about.

  • You're absoloutely right, it is great music either way.

However, with that being said, Jesse Lacey is not Catholic.

There's an XM Radio interview from '07 where Jesse talks about religion and says: "The idea of religion and organized religion, and especially the Born-Again Christian or Evangelist Christian ideas; I run away from that as fast as I possibly can. The label of Christian, the weight that it carries in America today, is nothing that I want to be a part of or associated with."

  • And PS, If you (and this goes for anyone reading) happen to think I'm either wrong, or lying, or even if you just aren't convinced - feel free to let me know.

I can send you the interview if you'd like!

  • hahah, i completely believe you! but could you send me the interview?

    PLEASEEEE (:

i would really appreciate it :D

  • Sure thing, just send your email address to my inbox. :)

  • he's from levittown levittown is in new york no hes not that religous

  • Have you ever listened to interviews? In a Sirius interview he clearly stated that he wants nothing to do with the church as a whole.

  • he went to some catholic school as a child

so i know that he has a religious background

im not too sure about his views today

    so ill restate that

he clearly knows alot about the bible.. which could be considered religious, depending on your view of the definition, i guess

  • the songs on the album he explained as songs that showed his faith but also his doubts as everyone who does believe in God does...personally i think its a better stand than the regular God based lyrics of other bands

  • I feel that his religious references are more of a "questioning" stance more then a devout belief.Neutral I guess?

  • i thought they were from Merric long island

  • jesse and vin are from levittown the drummer i know is from merrick. I dont know why they say the band started in merrick but i know they do.

  • how bout you send me that interview?

  • I think that Jesse does believe in God, his problem is with organized religion. His beliefs are referenced in a lot of his songs. Like in Archers:

"While you're beating with a book

everyone that book tells you to love.

There is an ember in the heart of this kiln

and it's burning hot with love.

Burning out my center till there's nothing but dust

then rolling me with care into your cigarette

cause the God I believe in never worked on a campaign trail."

    But either way, incredibly talented.

  • your probably right but i'm sure he was probably born catholic

  • Who cares that they're Christian Rock. They're fucking amazing.

I'm just glad it's not the steryotypical Christian rock, the "Jesus, I want you inside me", stuff.

  • whoa, haha, is the acoustic on a stand, thats so cool

i was wondering why he had that electric at his side

  • i love brand new no matter what

but i thought jesse said that he wasn't religious anymore

i would personally be happy if that changed, but still love him nonetheless

  • who cares if it's Christian rock either way he's an incredible writer

  • omg solo.

    best.

    ever.

  • one of my favourite songs of give it a name

    amazing live =]

  • it's funny that brand new fans don't realise they are listening to christian rock

  • explain why they are christian rock..please oh please enlighten me

  • hahaha

    well let's see

    jesse lacey is my cousin

he's sitting on my bed reading psalms 25 for a new song he wants to write.

    good enough?

  • oh sure he is.

  • alot of them (or us?) do, it's not a bad thing.

  • its Christian? i'm a Christian myself and i know some of the guys including Jesse are Christians but i didnt know they played Christian music. thats cool.

  • its Christian? i'm a Christian myself and i know some of the guys including Jesse are Christians but i didnt know they played Christian music. thats cool.
