Yes Karen has a great voice writes great lyrics, is gorgeous, is electric when she performs on the videos and live, and something special when smiles, but brian and nick are too often overlooked as musicians thats what makes them the Yeah Yeahs Yeahs. But I think only Bjork and Karen are a refreshing breath away from the commercial pop compared to Lady G.

Karen is much more avante guard than Lady Gaga and Bjork is way way more avante guard then Karen O. Avante guard scale= Bjork>>>>>>>>Karen O>>>>>>Lady Gaga. Same is true in terms of commercialism. But I think only Bjork and Karen are a refreshing breath away from the commercial pop compared to Lady G.

@BMXorHOMICIDE I can't rag too much on Lady GaGa, cuz I have respect for any artist who does and actually creates their own music, not just has all the lyrics and melodies and everything handed to them on a silver platter like the drones of teeny bopper singers out there, and I actually think she has good songs (even if they're gimmicky), but I just don't understand how Lady Gaga sells so many albums, while YYY's are not paid nearly enough respect and attention. As a fan, it's a good thing that they are not as big as lady googoo. If they were, we would have to share them with many bandwaganers, concert tix will be expensive and hard to get, a possibility of the cranking out watered down music. Its scary when an artist or band gets too big because they forget their true fans and start to sell out. I love the stage were they are right now.

@OffDWallNotDRack In the music industry talent usually doesn't sell cds, catchy and dramatic does. People love infectious, accessible beats. LG is pretty easy to digest. She gives people what they want - drama, intrigue, dance beats, party, fun fun fun. Not saying YYYs don't have some of that but they just go about it in a much more sophisticated way - they're a bit more cryptic.

@BMXorHOMICIDE hell yea. well to tell u the truth, i never knew who she was until i played rock band. she doesnt get enough publicity =/. cuz when i heard maps all my troubles washed away, and i felt as if someone else was sharing my pain wit me. plus she is even creative, so its not like she sings dull and is dull. but she actually has a lively character, and can sing soothingly. lady gaga just acts weird just for the fame. but thats not how she is.
