In 1972 Carnival was put-off due to the POLIO epidemic from 14 -15 February to May 1 - 2! This song was a hit in the first part of Carnival 1972 in T&T and the Caribbean, Lord Shorty did not have a recording and he sang 'Calypso Is Ours' at the OYB Tent! When Carnival returned in May, King Wellington recorded another song called 'Carnoval In May', Shorty did not sing in any Tent or recorded for the May Carnival celebration. Shorty LIED about about creating SOCA, he did not!
I feel bad for anyone who has not had the opportunity to see King Wellington perform live at Flynn's in Ocean Bay Park, Fire Island. There is nothing like seeing him perform live any place else in the world!
@jimmibro This is a calypso that written and/or sang by King Wellington. This calypso was published in 1972 & for the first Carnival celebrations in 1972 it reached as high as #2 against Sparrow' Rope and Kitchener's Mrs. Harriman, on the Caribbean Hit parade hosted Sunday evenings on 610 Radio by Dave El Cock. Here is Wellington telling us about how to create this New Calypso Music that Shorty is claiming that he created! Troubadours played it at the finals of the Brass-O-Rama contest!

OK calypso lovers, I heard an oldie but goodie the other day and could not get the name of the song, the lyrics go like this"
"If a woman even try
to say I left her disatisfied,
SHE LIED!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
SHE LIED!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
THE WOMAN IS A LIAR!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!"
This is an old, wild calypso song and I'm trying to finger it? Someone help.
