  • TU !

That is great material on the ground level (or low level) work.

May I ask how to train going to the ground when not on mats, but on hard ground - say tarmac or concrete. There you would obviously not want to fall to your knees. So I see a limit as how fast we can go down. When wearing riot armour or other protective gear that might not be a problem, but in plain cloth I wonder how the geting down part is done without danger to my knees.

take care and have a nice day

  • @blacksilkblacksilk When learning these motions, mats or soft grass is recommended. When using these methods on concrete, wood, asphalt, and the like (and I have done so), there are a few methodologies. One is to remain, when in the kneeling posture, with your knee slightly off the ground and to transition to the sitting postures gently. This is a great workout for your leg muscles too. Another method is to go all the way to the ground, but "pull up" so that you make gentle contact.

  • wow, very impressive my friend. You are an extremely competent martial artist. It seems like you're very relaxed and I didn't see you get caught up in your own body when committing to the movement. Hopefully one day I'll be as good as you. Thank you for the exercise!

Just out of curiosity, is Albo-Kali Silat the only thing you study?

  • Thank you for the compliments. I have studied various Japanese martial arts (and have an instructor rank or two), but pretty much dedicate my time to Albo Kali SIlat these days, due to the completeness and real world capability of the Albo Kali Silat system. I have been in law enforcement for over 17 years, at the municipal and federal level, and have had the ability to test what works "for real," and also engage in a lot of law enforcement related force on force training, etc.
