With several of the houses that I've destroyed, the answer is yes; it was a real bad feeling, kind of like destroying the memories that were in it, etc. But with this house, no, it was okay. The house had been torched by arsonists, and was beyond repair.
Theres nothing like destruction for breakfast in the morning xD I would have done this in a different way possably some explosives, but hey what do I know Im not a demolition worker or construction worker but it sure looks fun! But I already have my life planned out but if it doesn't all go to plan I might think of working in construction.
Carl, it's easier to steal one of these things than to steal a car. People see someone pull up with a lowbed (in this case also stolen in our case, we later learned) and take an excavator away, and they don't bat an eye. They just assume that if someone who knows how to operate the machine is taking it away, that he MUST be AUTHORIZED to do so.
And typically they aren't hot wired; one Hitachi key will fit almost any Hitachi machine; same goes for other brands.
Too bad the thief didn't wait another week. By then it would have had a GPS system installed on it. All the other machines had them installed, and it was the last one to be done.
@kimchiman1000 Bummer. One of the backhoes was stolen from a jobsite some years back. Boss is still looking for it he has the serial number with him at all times but probably will never see it again
thats the truth my uncle pulls a rgn hauls brand new tractors and deere and hitachis out of kernersville and anybody could pull up to a contruction site in the middle of the day and say im here to pick that deere up hop in it with a deere key and swing er around n load up chain up and drive away laughin
Hitachi keys also fit John Deere excavators. They same key for Deere or Hitachi excavators from 1985 to 2009! I know cause I have tried it lmao! Not stolen any! Just opened the door then re locked it to see if it worked
It was gutted by a fire. That's why we demoed it. All the walls and floors were still intact, and I could still walk around inside, but most of the strength was probably gone already.
Thanks much, Scott! It's nice to hear that. I just wish I had this camera on some of the commercial demolition jobs I have done. I could have made some REALLY interesting videos.
is it me or at like 4:11, did the whole house shift sideways in one piece??

kimchiman1000 3 years ago
Great video, i really like that 200!
I run a cat 120 and a Hitachie 400!
logger260 3 years ago
It was a good old 200, until it was stolen a few years back.
It's probably buried under a grow op in the interior somewhere now.
kimchiman1000 3 years ago
You mean someone hot-wired it and swiped such a large machine? Didn't it wake you up with all that noise?

My old Toyata Corolla key (1985) fits some of the Hitachis better than a Hitachi key fits - lol!

@kimchiman1000 A guy at work has a key to his Chevy (197?) that fits Case backhoes pretty well too haha

It would have been great to have a video taken inside the house. I'm sure there are viewers who love ancient houses, including me.
