Dekkers was one of the best westerners to enter a muay thai ring, but he is NOWHERE near Samart. He lost against ballantine, orono, sagmonkol (this guy was only 18 i believe at the time). among many other thai fighters who don't even come close to samart. Buakaw would also destroy him. seriously man do your research. Dekkers' major weakness was also the clinch, which is how orono dominated him!

Don't get me wrong Payakaroon has fought more than Dekkers and has a better record and he's even fought a lot of good fighters but Dekkers fought the very best from everywhere in Thailand, Japan, and Holland and that's what Buakaw has done today. the thing ur all forgetting is that MMA has practically no following in Thailand. thats why there are no Thais i can think of in PRIDE or UFC. becuase obviously their main combat sport is muay thai, which is more bound into their tradition than say boxing is over here. thailand has only just started including MMA bouts at certain events...so maybe that will happen sometime in the future, but now, probly not

I think Buakaw would do very well in MMA if he trained for it. He's been fighting all his life, and his stand-up fighting is perfected, he could really focus on groundfighthing, and for someone with his physical strength, he would dominate Pride in a few years training.
