it amazes me how many people listen to this stuff and know nothing about it. These lyrics were sang by a man named Cutty Ranks around 20 years ago, he was a butcher in Jamaica before getting into the MC business. He is one of the pioneers in dub, and this has been remixed a lot, check out the DJ SS remix and my personal favorite, the Rewind Records remix by Soundmurderer and SK-1. Then people try to say dubstep isn't majorly influenced by jungle... just makes me laugh.

I reckon it's a mixture of far too much to get into, it's the best and most original genre to appear since early drum n bass or maybe trip hop.

well dubstep really comes from garage, its basically what happened when garage got so mainstream (see Sweet Female Attitude - Flowers) that the scene got sick of it. They wanted something darker and less accessible to Mariah Carey clones. And who had darkside style on lock? That's right, d'n'b. but since the beat was half the speed you have so much more room, to incorporate so many other styles and techniques we've learned from all genres of electronic music... well its just evolution.

Evolution is always a good thing, it's the only new music I've heard in my entire lifetime that I've latched onto. Nothing else really applied.
