Mass Effect and Knights of The Old Republic - two Bioware franchises that have shaped my gaming life. Coincidentally, Jennifer Hale had a part in both.
The only thing that I think they could have done, was keep the planet roaming feature. However illogical it is they still should have kept it...but that would have belated the release date and that would have made me sad. Pro's and cons
I feel like they ruined the ability to land on multiple planets. I actually enjoyed discovering different planets on the vehicle rather than scanning for minerals for hours.
@Zulg0 exactly, i hated that they took out the world exploration in exchange for a scan/probe system. especially for something that is vital to the end of the game, my 1st play through i got a headache because of the new system in the first hour. it came back to bite me in the rear at the end when i had only fully upgraded the ship and i hadn't fully upgraded my characters, they were all loyal and i used the right characters in the right places but i still lost three allies.
Im watching this after ragequitting ME2 cuz I screwed up and my crew died and I don't save too much so Ill have to restart the whole friggin game just because I want a perfect import on ME3 -_-
@JPMHUDProductions yeah similar thing happened to me except only mordin solus died. so i replayed another 35-40 hours just to get everybody to live and the 75 gamerscore achievement. it was still a ton of fun the second time around though. idk how anyone could just play this game once anyway
It's so funny that the character in the game has so many physical similarities to the voice actor. That is probably why the characters in the game are so down to earth :3
The Illusive Man was one of the best characters in the game... He just radiated authority.
The only characters that felt rather bland to me were Jacob, Jack, and Grunt...
Jacob was pretty much the character that helped the new players into the series understand the basics, Jack was too cliche and Grunt was rather boring compared to Wrex.
Whilst the Human designs in this game are ugly, they've done a good job on the detail and the amount of different appearances... Especially in the other races as well.
Thanks for the video, I haven't seen this before, and Seth's right, ME2 is a HUGE improvement over the first. All it lacked was the more free-roam and RPG elements of the first.
I wish they wouldn't spend so much time talking up the game. I mean, the people watching this have almost certainly already bought and played the game, so why not provide us with some information that's actually interesting?
I think the story of ME2 is much of a precursor which shows how/why Cerberus would be involved with the Reaper invasion. Perhaps it's to show Cerberus' goal of advancing humanity's ascension through any means possible and the means would be working together with the reapers to transcend into a "greater" state of humanity....
dark 2nd waste of TIME. hardly any results from your descisions, and boring mission structure, and extremely predictable storyline. considering its pretty much the same as the 1st games. That said it still managed to deliver where it counts and 3 will blow it out from memory.
@dnhodge thats because the decisions in 2 were set up for consequences in 3. steep consequences... in 2 it just left a kind of foreboding... the mission structure might be boring? i don't really know how it could be different, but the story was definitely not 'extremely' predictable or the same as the first... what was really bad about 2 was the lack of anything happening... most of it was recruiting and gaining loyalty (optional)... then, bam, end of the game...

@heythatisjourney i didn't start out thinking i was gonna save the human race... besides you, not sure how many people did... there was tons of story covering things from the first game and future events that maybe you don't give credit for? for instance the genophage, races, wars, shadow/information brokering... and actually character interaction is much better/natural than with ME1. where you could only have a chat with people after a story mission, and they'd only have one thing to say...

@viataliy When u board the "abandonned" collector ship and they see the numbers of capsules they say "OMFG they are going for earth!!!!" i dont know if maybe it was just one character who actually says it (think i had Taylor with me) but then that was the most intriguing line in the game. Its not story covering events that u mention its info on the universe and thats not what ME2 got wrong. Its THE Story that feels more like a semi finished side quest.

Weird way... missed that explaination? In ME1 they made u care about the chars but had an AMAZING story to go with it. Here they have pretty fun chars but a lacking story... @heythatisjourney looks to me Harbinger was the reaper of this game. and collector general was the saren. collectors were the geth. so what you're trying to find flaw in, does not exist. there was a puppeteer, and a puppet. except harbinger i guess might have had higher rank than sovereign. if you think about it, sovereign was like a scout. harbinger, claims to be the harbinger of humanities salvation through destruction. so he was the second sent... get the picture? taking it further
@heythati... harbinger has the ability to DIRECTLY assume control, instead of just basic indoctrination (possibly due to the tests on the collectors). so, yes there is a bad guy. as much as the last game. why does it matter if he seems like an insect? or if you never meet him? and yes, that is how reapers are made. dunno how you missed the explanation, but like i said, bias... that is what happens *every time* a civilization 'disappears'... they are used as the source material for reapers...
@heythat... reapers failed to turn protheans to a new reaper though, and protheans created an opportunity for humanity to fight... but reapers gave them something worse than death; did those horrible experiments on them... which the illusive man wants, and gets... why would he want that? and have you paid attention to cerberus' past and what they reveal in the current game? there is a lot going on in this game i'm telling you... both game story, and BG story are packed more than before...

I've got a problem. Every time someone says something to me in real-life, I just imagine that little bubble there and after an awkwardly long silence I just choose the Paragon choice...because what I do now will have dire ramifications in the future.

Playing Mass Effect is like having sex with the hottest/sexiest chick anyone has ever seen. You then wanna marry it and would never even think to cheat on it with other dirty games.
Pyrofreak, you can actually get more armour and weapons than just the customizable set. E.g the blood dragon armour from the ps3 and dragon age games.

8:54 "rich rpg system...rpg progression and customization" - NO, its close to non-existent in mass effect 2. "exploration" no, thats also very minimal. ME2 is a very visual appealing shooter, with good cinematics and acting, but the gameplay and story are mediocre.
8:10 "customization of the armor is just over the top,"........wow, lies. Get one piece of armor that you can make pink, and buy a couple more for a high price. gosh that's over the top.

There is almost no difference between the Xbox 360 and PS3 versions of Mass Effect 2 in terms of visual quality, as proven by Lens of Truth. That also still doesn't change the fact that without the first game, the immersion is almost utterly ruined in Mass Effect 2 without the consequences of choices made in the first game carrying over to the second one.
DLC- Xbox has that too.

@heythatisjourney looks to me Harbinger was the reaper of this game. and collector general was the saren. collectors were the geth. so what you're trying to find flaw in, does not exist. there was a puppeteer, and a puppet. except harbinger i guess might have had higher rank than sovereign. if you think about it, sovereign was like a scout. harbinger, claims to be the harbinger of humanities salvation through destruction. so he was the second sent... get the picture? taking it further

@heythati... harbinger has the ability to DIRECTLY assume control, instead of just basic indoctrination (possibly due to the tests on the collectors). so, yes there is a bad guy. as much as the last game. why does it matter if he seems like an insect? or if you never meet him? and yes, that is how reapers are made. dunno how you missed the explanation, but like i said, bias... that is what happens *every time* a civilization 'disappears'... they are used as the source material for reapers...

@heythat... reapers failed to turn protheans to a new reaper though, and protheans created an opportunity for humanity to fight... but reapers gave them something worse than death; did those horrible experiments on them... which the illusive man wants, and gets... why would he want that? and have you paid attention to cerberus' past and what they reveal in the current game? there is a lot going on in this game i'm telling you... both game story, and BG story are packed more than before...

@viataliy Yea there is a mind behind the evil forces but thats not what i mean. I hope u understand my concept of "bad guy". I remember now the scene where the bug regains controll, ure rite about that. When it all comes down to it the story just isnt that good. But this game focus MOSTLY (id say around 70%) on BG story, and its prob to build up for the third game like u said, but in doing so leaves it somewhat unmoved in form of developing th present. id be happier if it ended on a cliffhanger

@heythatisjourney story didn't die... just not much happens is all... and why did it lead you to think they would abduct the earths population at all... they were taking colonists... seems you were looking for something big, but didn't find it? Protheans were turned into mindless slaves, experimented on, and do the same to humans now and build a human-reaper. yes its a reaper, thats how reapers are made. pretty big discovery. as for bad guys, who do you think you were fighting the whole game?

I've got a problem. Every time someone says something to me in real-life, I just imagine that little bubble there and after an awkwardly long silence I just choose the Paragon choice...because what I do now will have dire ramifications in the future.

Pyrofreak, you can actually get more armour and weapons than just the customizable set. E.g the blood dragon armour from the ps3 and dragon age games.

8:54 "rich rpg system...rpg progression and customization" - NO, its close to non-existent in mass effect 2. "exploration" no, thats also very minimal. ME2 is a very visual appealing shooter, with good cinematics and acting, but the gameplay and story are mediocre.

There is almost no difference between the Xbox 360 and PS3 versions of Mass Effect 2 in terms of visual quality, as proven by Lens of Truth. That also still doesn't change the fact that without the first game, the immersion is almost utterly ruined in Mass Effect 2 without the consequences of choices made in the first game carrying over to the second one.
DLC- Xbox has that too.
Interactive comic- I'll take a fully fledged game thanks.
