Reva Bhalla is right to say that blaming Pakistan for these attacks will complicate the USA's regional relations, but is wrong to say that the Lashkar-e-Taiba terror group is somehow defunct.

In fact, now that the US has brought down the hammer and cut aid to Pakistan, it's in the Pakistan Army's interest to push right back, and send the message that "If you Yanks don't give us money, we'll start bombing your Indian friends again" - which will only put the US in an increasingly awkward position

Why does Reva Bhalla claim that Lashkar-e-Taiba is "now defunct"? That's an outright lie - LeT is alive and well, and is anything but defunct.

It seems as if her conclusion that the attack is indigenous is motivated by her stated awareness that blaming Pakistan - even legitimately - for these attacks would complicate international relations for the USA
