  • I cry everytime I see this scene.... I guess I just fell in love with Hamlet. :)

  • Some consider it the best Shakespeare-movie ever.

    Easy to see why.

  • I want this played at my funeral as my casket is carried into my tomb.

  • I am more an Antique roman than a Dane.

  • Let four captains

    Bear Hamlet, like a soldier, to the stage;

    For he was likely, had he been put on,

    To have proved most royally: and, for his passage,

    The soldiers' music and the rites of war

    Speak loudly for him.

    Take up the bodies: such a sight as this

    Becomes the field, but here shows much amiss.

    Go, bid the soldiers shoot.

  • Its a wonderful soundtrack

    Patrick Doyle is so great, and Branagh is GOD!!!

  • ahh! I love love the soundtrack to this movie.

    Everything about and concerning the movie is PERFECT, but the soundtrack is the best.

    Except for Kenneth. xD He IS Hamlet. ^_^

  • this film used a lot of long takes lol

  • reminds me of the statue

  • ...that could smashed down!

  • Blimey, this makes me want to cry! Patrick Doyle is an amazing composer!

  • O, I die, Horatio;

    The potent poison quite o'er-crows my spirit:

    I cannot live to hear the news from England;

    But I do prophesy the election lights

    On Fortinbras: he has my dying voice;

    So tell him, with the occurrents, more and less,

    Which have solicited. The rest is silence.

  • Thanks for adding this.

    "Good night, sweet Prince and flights of angels sing thee to thy rest." Heart-breaking...and in a strange way, heart-lifting.

  • @violetfieldflorence Is there a video of the original scene on YouTube?

    I love that quote too but can't find it anywhere. :/

    If you could share a link, it would be great. :)

  • @Bonzostar I don't think there is. I've looked for ages. There's a clip of Hamlet's soliloqouy on the field in Denmark where he sees Fortinbras' army massing, and there's similar music.

  • PLEASE POST MORE tracks from this excellent soundtrack. LOVE IT.

  • I agree with you ShakespeareHamlet: Branagh/Doyle is a great director/composer team. I love the music of Patrick Doyle!

    But when mentioning other director/composers remember Kieslowski and Zbigniew Preisner in Trois couleurs and other films...:)

  • honestly, I never even heard of them, but I'm sure they're great.

  • Patrick Doyle really knows how to make music fit the scene. this track is yet another great example of how brilliant he is. a fitting finale to an excellent film version of Shakespeare's timeless tragedy.

  • please post more tracks from this awesome soundtrack.

  • great track, fitting the grand images on screen. Kenneth Branagh & Patrick Doyle-the greatest director/composer team alongside Steven Spielberg & John Williams and Sir Alfred Hitchcock & Bernard Herrman.
