Oh my Goodness!! THANK YOU!! You explain it so well!! I love the pace of the video its not too fast so I can see everything that happens and that way I can study well how you make the dish! Thanks a bunch!! =) I'll go thank my mom also she recommended me your videos! =)
I am so excited to find these mini-cook course. I love Indian food, but I live in a place where it is not easy to find. I am really looking forward to learning how to create these lovely meals at home. Thank you so much for sharing!
I FINALLY had all the ingredients to prepare one of your recipes & this was what I made. It was DELICIOUS!! Even better than the one my Indian friend shared with me recently. I confess I was bad, I ate both servings, it was THAT good. I also made a Tomato Rasam that I drizzled over this. I'm not sure if this is an authentic Indian way, but it was how it was done the 1st time I had this wonderful dish, so I repeated. Even alone, this is very very good. Thank-you for sharing! YUMMM.. :D
Glad you were able to make adjustments so that it was to your liking. That's what cooking is all about! I don't know why you've gotten so many thumbs down. A big thumbs up to you.
Manjula jee, thanx for sharin' yet another awesome recipe, had two questions, one already answered, thanx to SoulQuest7, you use green, hot chilis, the peas you use, are they dry peas or fresh peas? And you also mention using oatmeal in the recipe? 5 stars Manjulatzin* and thanx for sharin'!

Manjula....thank you so much for posting this recipe! I have been looking everywhere for how to make Upma, having had it recently in an Indian restaurant. Finally you have shown me how to make it at home! Manjula, the queen of YouTube Indian Cookery! Please keep the videos coming. I think you're terrific.
hi everybody, esp south indian people. is it only me, who is finding this recipe of upma a bit different or other people have also noticed. I am not saying there is anything wrong with manju aunty's recipe, lekin, after the peanut stage, i fry pyaaz ,a bit of ginger, then add water. when the water comes to boil, i slowly add soji. at the end i add dhaniya. anyway, there r different ways of making any dish.
this is the way north indians makes it.Even in my house they make it like tht.The one which u r talkin abt is south indian method.both has its own unique taste n extremely yummy
I felt the same about it as I come from south too. At home, my mom adds curry patta and not hari corriander for upma. She would roast them very light till the raw smell goes away and instead of peanuts (we use that in Tamarind rice), she always uses cashews. She adds ginger and green chillies for sure and sometime potatoes, string beans, onions and or tomatoes. And, we would add lemon juice just before serving. Anyway, Manjulaji's recipe is very appealing and looks great:)
Manjula, when you say "green pepper" I think you mean green chili; sometimes you use these terms interchangably. People in the US think of "green pepper" as sweet peppers. Nevertheless, I LOVE your cooking and can't wait to make this recipe as upma is one of my favorites.
a big THANKYOU for posting videos like these...which r very simple to cook...and healthy to eat...all the best
