  • curious, he is supposedly a shotokan stylist, since when does shotokan issue a red and white belt?

  • @Specter1957 His belt is from the American Teachers Association of the Martial Arts.

This is an association that accredits only teachers and the belt is not style related, but teacher related. Schmeisser could in fact kick your ass by the way

  • When did Dwight from the Office get his renshi? This vid is redunk

  • WTF is this

  • awkward and off balance

  • Let me guess, he paddled a kayak to Okinawa but got shipwrecked on a little island where some 100 yr old man nursed him back to health in a cave, then taught him the kata of Channan that he learned from his great grandfather who lived in nearby Okinawa.. in the 1800's.

  • if this 0:52 is what I think,(cat walk) you should know that isn't good,

and at 0:48 you punched with wrong knuckles

  • ups ¡ si esa es la kata perdida, mejor no la hubieran encontrado¡

  • No disrespect intended; but if it's a lost kata, how do you know it?

  • I read all of this criticism from various experts ( ha ha ), who feel that the demonstrator is of low skills. If you hadn't noticed, he is not a young man. The main point I want to make is that he is merely demonstrating moves from a kata. He is not competing in a tournament , trying to impress judges. I have actually worked out with him ( years ago ) and have seen his students, His students are excellent and would likely kick your behinds. So, don't be so quick to judge!

  • The skill level of this instructor is very low.. maybe he is one of those "scholar types" that just never seem to get the hang of physical movement. Since I haven't actually seen the dvd I don't know if they guy has something "real" to pass on.. but man.. i really don't see a 6th dan level out of any of this guys movements and would be interested to see who gave him that rank. I have respect for Anessi so he must have put out the DVD for a reason.. maybe just for the kata movements alone...

  • I love the videos on the site but this Dr.whatever, I have found him to be useless. I bought one of his Bunkai books of Nihaichi and I laughed all the way thru. His skills are shodan at best. I cannot believe Bushido-kai produced his non skills. I have better skills, maybe i should contact Bushido-kai and make a video.

  • @jiggahippo

My friend, maybe I need to learn english. You are right. But this "master" need to learn karate beceause this is NOT karate! Do you know what is the Bushido?! Maybe you would not write foolish things!

    Oss

  • @PZ0042 Please post your own video of you performing a kata or demonstrating technique, so that you can show us how a master should look!

  • So sorry, but this horrible what this does on this clip! This was never a master only in his dream! Has he got a 6th dan degrees? Oh my Gog! If he has got 6th degrees, that is only 6th kyu degrees!

So sorry that there is person and doesnt shy show this horrible clip!

  • Think of it like the bible and all the gospels that didn't make it in the bible. I'm not saying this is a lost kata, but what I am saying is that the list of katas was condensed only seventy years ago or so. All it takes is a master who carries on a kata cause it might have been his masters favorite.

  • This is NOT a master. This is a poor shodan who has more than likely self promoted for the last few grades. His karate is so bland he tries to fool you with a fancy belt and knowledge of a kata that no one else cares about. How come the instructors that are any good dont wear the stupid red and white belts.

This is the legacy of karate, is it??

  • Yes, you are right. This man is NOT master, only a student. He has got not shodan, he would likes this only. Oh my God! This terrible what this does on this clip! Maybe I shall never use my student degrees if there is like "master".

  • @PZ0042 what? learn to write properly english, you sound like a dumbass.

  • @PZ0042 ok, ur showing how stupid u truly are. If u read my post I too agree that this Dr. has no idea what he is doing. I AGREE WITH U! And as far as knowing what bushido is... well I have a few years of training around 37 years. And ur right he (the Doctor) has no skills.

  • Explain to me how you would find a 'lost' Kata? If they were established by the original Karate systems of Japan decades ago, and fitted into ciriculums for particular styles, how could you, an American, find a 'lost' Kata? How could it even BE lost? Did you find a lost master too? I think not.

  • haha i like the last part of your sentence, that was hilarious lol

  • @Jonnyeth

Actually, it has been said that the Pinan/Heian kata were developed were developed from one ancient Kata taught by a Chinese visitor to Okinawa by the name of Chiang Nan, or "Channan". Supposedly, that is where the name Channan came from.

(Although it conflicts with the Pinan from Kusanku theory)

  • I didn't know that Ned Flanders did karate...

    WoW..

Hidiho neighbour, you look fandiddly tastic.

  • @bighairymanluv ned flanders hahahaha

  • @bighairymanluv hahahaahahaha

  • hmmm, i'm having doubts about this.

it just doesn't look usefull. I have over 15 years of experiance in 2 koryu styles one of them koryu uchinadi and I don't think my sensei would ever teach us this "kata" nor its bunkai... just doesn't work for me

  • GIVE ME A BREAK......

  • Lol I love it when black belts get used as ookies.

Though why did most of them try to land hands first when falling backwards? Incase you don't know that is a fantastic way to break your wrist.

  • weird vdeo

  • Lost kata channan??? haha.. funny this guy has found a lost kata. hahaha.. His grandma taught him it?

  • Schmeisser is very capable, and should be thanked for his contribution to reverse-engineering the kata. Another great source of bunkai is Iain Abernethy's Bunkai-jutsu series of dvds. Wonderful applications of the kata against real world type aggression (grab/punch, roundhouse punch, head butt, as opposed to a karate-type punch from twenty feet away-doesn't happen a lot in bars).

  • If that is him in the video put the guy against a decent fighter and lets see if the stuff works.
