  • THANK YOU SO MUCH tears of sadnesss and joy

  • Almost forgot: Butterfield Blues band, Charlie Musselwhite, and drinking those wonderful 'LSD's (Luscious Soda Drinks). Anyone remember those? No alcohol from what I remember.

  • ... we'd grab a brisket on club at Katz's and then over to the Cafe Au Go Go. My buddy has passed on so I can't ask him to clear up my memories. Those were the days.

  • @jberthoty Just love your beautiful memories! Take Care my bro! :-)

  • I have faint memories of being there, but I remembered him sitting in with Muddy Waters. I may be wrong. I also thought it was earlier than '67. Again, not sure. I do remember seeing The Youngbloods, Waters, Havens, and others. My good friend and banjo teacher who was a little older, used to take me to the village (from Queens) on saturdays. We would hang around the fountain in the park, listening to groups, visit the Folklore Center to buy picks (saw Dylan shopping there). In the evening...

  • I first saw JH at the Cafe Au Go Go on July 23, 1967. He was introduced by Richie Havens, the featured performer. Fender amps--he kept apologizing 'cos they weren't loud enough. I was in the front row, ten feet from him. Loud enough for me. He had opened for the Monkees the day befoe at Shea Stadium.

Also saw many other wonderful performers there--Blues Project, Muddy Waters, Jim Kweskin Jugband with Maria Muldaur, Blood Sweat and Tears, Gary Davis, on and on.
