It was actually produced through antigen-shifts in pigs between different influenza virus serotypes, to form more infectious and virulent hybrids. This is why most of the major influenza outbreaks occur in asia. Lots of pig farms, and terrible sanitation. The viruses spread and mutate very very quickly in regions like that.
