  • what a weirdo why do people do this?

  • @bitcyknw they can't help it.

  • Prt 1/5

For the first time in 18 years I've not had any ANY urges to pull out even 1 strain for 3 straight weeks! Before that, I’ve tried "everything" but always failed and always gave up.

  • Prt 2/5

But then one day, I was aware of not having the urges (I (used to ) get the urges behind my desk) and I decided to stay in that "PULL_FREE_MODE" using my CONCIOOUSNESS and the POWER OF THE MIND. I PREVENT MY URGES by actually MASSAGING MY SCALP BELIEVING that This is Part OF THE HEALING PROCESS satisfying the roots BEFORE they "call me".

  • Prt 4/5

Also note that being "pull-free" is a LIFESTYLE!, it’s like having e.g. diabetes and having to be AWARE of everything you put into your body. Eventually it becomes a part of your sub consciousness and there is no need to actually think about it.

  • Prt 5/5

If you want POWER over the TICH and YOURSELF, get EDUCAED ABOUT IT and also REALLY GET TO KNOW YOURSELF BETTER.....DIG DEEP FAR AND WIDE, for this is ROOTED WITHIN YOUR SOUL. KNOWLEDGE is POWER; just get the knowledge and your hair, but -above all- YOUR SELF ESTEEM will GROW with it.........

    I PROMISE!

If this HELPS YOU TOO, my trich and getting trough it just makes more sense!

GROW YOUR MIND -GROW YOUR HAIR- GROW YOUR LIFE!

  • I have Trich as well, and I have shaved my head for the same reason. It's been about a year and a half. My hair is now about down to my shoulders, and I still pull. It didn't work for me, but maybe it will for you. :]

  • your brain will then pull out your pubs

  • I hate to bust it to ya, but that won't work, it's a disorder that your brain will always force. When your hair is back to length the urge will be there.

  • EXACTLY WHAT IDID!!!!!

  • I dont have this disorder but I've struggled with an eating disorder and have been abused in my lifetime and have asked myself "why me". I'm sure you ask yourself that but just remember we all have problems. I've been struggling with depression for 5 years now and I've had counseling and medicine. Nothing works. The only thing that does give me some hope is knowing God is with me. I would urge you to seek his guidance and help bc through him, all things are possible:)

  • I JUST PULL MY PENIS THATS ALL

  • Honestly, if you are just making stupid comments about it, stop wasting our time as well as your own. Pulling out your hair, regardless from where, is a horrible thing to live with and it affects every aspect of everyday of your life. It is not a laughing matter. Living with this is one of the hardest things that I have ever had to overcome. I am now 30 and have been pulling for half of my life.

  • Holy shit i thought i reconized here she goes to my school and dated one of my neighbors. She is one of the nicest people i know

  • Wow, that's great :D

  • i just trimmed my nose hairs.

  • Yeah, it doesn't work for everybody. I cut hair short, i start to eat my nails till blood, i stop biting nails, i start biting lips and my mouth till meat. If i try to control everything, i start to with the hair again...

  • YO SO BUEATIFUL

  • ewww wig

  • scary

  • Omg! I do the same,i have my hair shaved and i have a fade (though i can rock it and i wear it out) but i want my hair back T.T i used to wear wigs but then i stopped, but yea im still trying to help myself....HEY! how about you friend me as Raven Goudia on fb kay? then we can talk about it ^^

  • you look like a girl blonde pete wentz i dont know why.. its the smile

  • @724Core its true..

  • @okaymichellee shes cute

  • @724Core shes pretty but its true look at him and her lol

  • you are so pretty

  • You're Beautiful with or without hair :3 I'm a girl no homo o.o

  • @DanceIsDynamics just STOP!!!!

  • Oh my god that is genius...

  • congratulations! i'm extremely proud of you. i've never met you, but you're such an inspiration. :) good luck! <3

  • shes a hottie

  • @yournamegoeshereman i am not sure if you would be interested, but i have had Trich for 7 years and i know it is hard to go through. I too shave my head to help stop the pulling. I have recently created a social network for people with Trich to connect and get help from each other. If you or anyone with Trich is interested, here is the link. trichstersonline.socialgo.com

  • Hey you I would love to know you. I suffer with the same thing. I have the same life as you with Trich. Please write me .......

  • @Rhondavision oh, i had it for 2 years or so, and i resolved it by distracting my self with things such as video games and tv. seemed to work.

  • poor girl good luck in your recovery

  • meu deus me ajude!!!estou sofrendo

  • You can never be "cured".... But you sure can conquer it!

  • i dont really understand this disease... im sure glad i dont have it!

  • @Rudeascute yes, darling your lucky but when it comes to a time you will have it someday. all these people that watch this have trich. its a commen disease where you start to pluck your brows, lashes and hair once you start you cant stop. its very tough and very stressful

  • am i the only guy that has this or had

  • @rusho2nd women have this more than men

  • @musicianskey

Hmm, didn't know that, i don't think i had mine very bad, it was only when i was stressed out, although when i first started I'm not sure why.

  • @rusho2nd yeah see with me i do it not knowing every day..i dont have severe bald spots but my hair is really thin on the top.

  • @musicianskey

oh that sucks, when i do it i get a bald spot in the mid front, i think i focus more on that area.

  • @rusho2nd i do it everywhere x_x

  • @musicianskey

I feel like doing it right now, its 1 20 am and I've got to finish writing my history paper and study for the exam tommorow.

  • I have this but I go for eyelashes :'(

  • {{{HUG}}} from one trichster to another. I stopped when I adopted a son who had a mild form of trich. I felt so compelled to help him that I was too busy to realize my hair had all grown back. I every now and then pull out a hair or two but I get up and go for a walk.

  • the pain/tension feeling compelling you to pull out your hair even more can be reduced with pure eucalyptus oil mixed with some olive oil and rubbed into the sensitive area of the scalp. I kind of numbs/relaxes the scalp a bit. It has greatly reduced my hair pulling!

  • this a type of ocd?

  • @DivShadow

    yes. research it.

  • is there any man suffering from Trichotillomania? you're a beautiful girl btw.

  • @flyback777

me sorta, off and on but this last time it didnt get anywhere near as bad so i think i quit it, but yeah i did what she did, i controlled myself untill the bald spot a made grew back, which was really hard, then i shaved it all off then it kind of came back a half year ago but didnt get as bad as before, i also had this crazy nightmare where i twisted up a bunch of hair into a knot and then as i was trying to fix the knot a huge clump of hair came out, i think that nightmare helped.

  • You're never cured, it's a life long battle. I'm happy you have found a way to "retrain your brain" =) good job.

  • I was suffering with this same thing. I only felt confident when I had my eyelashes, but I found out how to stop myself!. Check out my blog for how to stop it, go on my channel and look at my website

  • weed would probly help

  • @Bay4Real I wish.

  • im doing the same thing!!!

  • Wow you're one beautiful girl!

  • so brave and i hope you overcome it! gorgeous girl, never suffered from trichotillomania but i understan the urges you get! xoxoxox

  • good for you! very brave. i don't think I could ever shave my head despite the fact that I've dealt with Trich for 10 years. Your wig is gorgeous btw.

  • I had this too... it was reallllyyy bad especially during my high school years...when I was bored or when I was studying (how convenient) ...but it just got to the point that I was so sick of it and I was determined to stop and I did :) but there are days when I find myself starting to do it and I usually just slap myself or find someone to hang out with so my mind will be busy!! Stay strong!! If I can do it, you can too! :)

  • this method makes complete sense: in fact, it is what I was planning on doing now that I have some free time after college graduation. I've been a trichster for about 12 years now and have tried everything that was suggested and that I could think of but none had lasted. Please keep up the good work and post the final results so I can try it out!! Thank you

  • @DanceIsDynamics I used to pull my pubes out but then I just stopped. I dare you not to pull out an eyelash or hair.

  • wow you guys are so brave im so proud of everyone that has came out and if people say mean stuf well fuck them they dont matter anyways remember theres allways hope out there never give up dont let this break u !

  • your mad hot..

  • This is my plan, whenever I can afford a wig. When you shave your hair very short can you still tell you have bald spots? I want to join the military, but I'm so afraid they will find out I have trich, which is disqualifying.

  • I'd like to pull your vagina hair...

  • so beautiufl babe

  • I'm so glad you're getting better =) Did it work?

  • @Keon994 you don't understand. Have some compassion. Most people don't even realize that they're doing it.

  • @Keon994 Have you ever heard what Tourette syndrome is? Unless you choose to completely ignore the medical and scientific world, you will have to agree with the fact that sometimes, it's just not optional.

  • @Sipz1337 Nonsense I say! You have no idea of the power of free will and the mind.

  • @Keon994 your FACE is a load of bull****. and I know you can't stop THAT.

  • @Keon994 Congrats on being a dumbass.

  • you're really hot!! :)

  • Congratulations.

i wish you the best of luck and i just wanna say how inspiring and strong you really are. It takes a lot to do what your doing.

    Good on ya. (:

  • I have this problem, but not to the extent that I have bald patches... not yet anyway... i've noticed my hair thinning... I'm quite tempted to try your method! I've tried so many different things to stop the pulling, but I still manage to work my way round back to it some how :( I hope it works out for you x

  • Hey! =] Congrats on taking things into your own arms and running with it! <3

I hope you're doing well with your trich! <3 Can I ask you where you got your wig? <3

  • Why don't you just shave your head completely bald so that there's nothing to pull? Would THAT work? Just curious.

  • I have a very mild case of this. I only do this when my goatee is long and scraggly. On the parts where the beard and mustache meet, on the sides of my mouth. When I shave I sometimes do it to my eyelashes. When I do it to my beard hairs I have this weird tendency to bite the hairs. Not chew or swallow, just bite down on. It's very weird. I could only imagine doing this with my hair and as a female. You ladies are very brave for sharing your experience in a world that's so in love with hair.

  • I'm 14 and have been suffering from trichitilomania since I was 4. A couple months ago I went to visit a doctor at the university of Michigan and he prescribed me a vitamin a heroine addict uses called anatyl- cystine. Supposedly the man that took this for his addiction had trich also and it took away his urges. Some drs. did research and found that the brain transmitters work the same way in both cases, and luckily I took this vitamin and I'm now recovering. This is not a drug it's very healt

  • ca you tell me more about it. i pull out my eyelash since i was 12 im 30 right now...thanks..

  • @yourmama6911

Wikipedia will tell you a lot about it, just google it.

    and at Keon994

You try living with it then tell us how easy it is to "just stop". its a little more complicated than just a "bad habit"

    have a heart will ya...

  • But then I look like a freak with out 'brows, and u can't shave eyelashes, I wish this affected my head hair instead. :'(

  • i remember my 8th grade crush came up to me and asked me why i had a comb-over..............i wanted to kill myself

  • I'm so happy for you. -3

    I'm trying to stop pulling..

    I stopped for five months.

And now it came back even worst.. :/

  • Like I said before, its whats on the inside that counts.

  • If date this chick even if she's bald

  • @peanutz007 - i think she could be pretty hot actually without hair! in a GI JAne without the manly appearance sort of way.

  • I have it, and it started out with the eyelash pulling then I started with my head hair. Now I am pulling both out. I wish there was a way to cure it.. :(

  • I have had Trichotillomania for 20 years. I am 25 almost now, I have it in my eyes and eyebrows. They are completely bald, I wish I could find a cure, but the sourced of it is stress and addiction. I wish l could go into a comma for like a year and treat my body with good meds but I have no health insurance so I know it won't happen. Huh maybe if I cut off my thumbs. now there's a cure. But doctors are so damb greedy. Fight it young one you don't want this 10 years later it's HELL, I will pray.

  • if you keep your hair short you cant pull it out , i agree , not bad for guys but a lot of girls like long hair, i pull it out its a funny sensation then i get a lump on the top of my head , it can take up to half hour to pull it out i dont want to do it but the brain does , it never really gets me down , makes me laugh , my hair allways seems to grow back , when i see the balled patch in the mirror i think o shit?? i have had this problam for over 40 years , dont let it get you down

  • @TheCatweazal guys have trich too...and trich doesn't just apply to scalp hair....I pull my eyebrows like crazy when I get nervous, and eyebrows are relatively short.

  • i do this and i didnt even know it was a condition:/

  • i hav it and it SUX got any quitting tips btw i do eyelashes and eyebrows

  • bandaids on ur fingertips always helps. its what i do. :)

  • thats how I do it but I am lucky to be a guy cause short hair works but I have to watch out, as my hair grows I always tell myself Im cured and then boom i wake up one am and theres a bunch of hair around my bed but i found stress came in to play with it. so when life gets rough i try to keep in mind to keep my hair short cause a big ole bald spot on my head is very stressfull you are very brave and beautiful i thank you

  • That's what I'm doing!!! It works for me to! Good luck!

  • Good luck

  • Your wig look great btw I couldn't even tell haha..

  • I'm 19, Ive had Trich since i was 12, And I shaved my head when i was 15. It took me a long time until i was able to grow my hair back out without the urge. I found that prayer and faith really helped, it was the best method i have tried. I went 8 months without pulling a single hair. I've recently lost faith, and began pulling again, So i will more than likely shave my head and start all over.

But you seem like a very brave girl, hang in there, i know its tough and people can be extremely cruel

  • @hondagirl42208

i think it wasn't your faith but your "power of mind" that made you be strong enough to not pull your hair. just believe you can and you will be able to succeed.

  • @hondagirl42208 this post diserves a high five! Trich people unite! i was bearly 11 when my Trich started, and now im 19 too. ive managed to keep myself in check for the most part nowadays, a sort of a balance. it makes it even worse when your a guy, believe me, but i dont think i'd have the nerves to make a few videos of my Trich, even after 8 years. cudos to you yournamegoeshereman....

  • @hondagirl42208 prayer and faith, religion, people use their religions as a defense mechanism you can do it without prayer because you not pulling your hair out because of prayer and faith and is you having the will power to do it but once you feel that you lost faith you lose that will you just have to be fine with yourself and have the will you had before. Regardless good job

  • @hondagirl42208 me too!! well i shaved and last long for 3 months :( and now im scraed cause i havent seen my dad for 3 years and next month he will gonna see me like this?!! !@#$

  • @hondagirl42208 It's not religion that helps, it's faith in yourself. The only God you have to look at is yourself, you have all control of yourself and you made yourself strong enough to stop.

  • @hondagirl42208 what happened to your faith?

  • good for you. congrats.

  • I think your approach to a cure is right on the money. It's a matter of simply "unlearning" a habit. You are going to succeed. PS You are even more beautiful as time goes on! ~ Debbie

  • IT IS OK TO BE UPSET FOR A WHILE IF YOU OCCASIONALLY FALL. THEN YOU STEND UP AND KEEP GOING (this is actually how you’ve learned to walk on this planet :-)

BELIVE IN YOURSELF and PEOPLE AROUND YOU. NEVER STOP TRYING. YOU ONLY LOSE IF YOU STOP TRING. YOU NEVER LOSE IF YOU KEEP TRING. YOU ALLWAY WIN!!!

YOU ARE SO BEAUTIFULL. YOUY LIFE IS WORTH YOU, ENJOY EVERY MOMENT OF IT

DO NOT LET YOUR TEMPORATY LIMITATIONS STOP YOU FROM DOING WHAT YOU WANT TO DO!!!

  • Just wanted to say thank you for posting!! I have suffered from tric for 2o years and I think you are brave for coming out and talking about it. Maybe I will build up the courage to come out as well :)

  • i started when i was six by eyelashes and eyebrows then it be one day i moved on to head hair...i also have a hard time explaining to my friends why chunks of my eyebrow ....may tell the truth

  • I want to

    Get a wig I'm only 12

  • I HATE TRICH! Your so brave! I'm getting a wig too, i hope it works.

  • ive tried to keep it shirt and shave it everytime i get bald spots but just when it gets long enought i start back at it again

  • I've done the shaved head thing, easier for me since im male, 23 now, but sometimes it's outta control and I just move to different areas.. Good luck I hope it works out for you.

  • i get mad when people say stuff outloud saying u got rigworm or some shit like that then people pick on u i hope they know this isnt funny

  • I wish i could use that strategy - but i pull out other hair (eyelashes, etc.) and pick my skin, so I know if i get rid of one pulling area, i'll just do more on the others... Still, i'm happy for you.

  • you have such a pretty face

  • great job !!!!

  • You rock, I have done the shaving bit myself, sadly about 4 times. If you wear a bandana into starbucks , sometimes they will give you a free cupon. :) Your strategy will work, but if I don't keep short hair, for me its all over. Trich since age 7 . T.

  • You are beautiful.

  • I pluck my eyelashes because it feels like an irritant is in my follicle and it bothers me,also when I pluck my eyelashes it does not hurt, but feels better. Im male.

  • Hi there, I cured my trich like that. Just shave it completely so you can't pull, if the hair isn't long enough to feel then you won't have that urge, if it's not there the urge won't be. When the hair grew back and I felt the urge to pull from a particular spot in order for me not to pull from that area i shaved it and then when my hands started trying to pull the surrounding area i ended up shaving my whole head again. this is the only way to prevent permanant damage. where did u get yr wig?

  • Ashley - trich is subset OCD - it's not saying you have OCD - but it is a type - it is a neurological disorder. You are correct, in saying your brain will be "rerouted" though - it's easy to teach your brain to do this. I know of other people who have done the same thing as you - in fact, CBT only worked for a few years with me & I'm pulling again. You might be able to go a few years - but you will most likely pull again. Even after your head is shaved. It is a genetic disorder.

  • It always seems to be girls with this condition. Any guys out there that do this?

  • She's so pretty. Is this a stress related thing?

  • @Libervurto it is actually i only got trich when i strated studing for exams

  • @Rheesepuffs97 same :(

  • @Libervurto in some ways yah. but it becomes so bad to the point where u dont feel that u can stop. its such a stressful and difficult thing to have.

  • @911arie

awww I want to give you a hug. I don't care if you've pulled all your hair out lol

  • @Libervurto awe thats rlly sweet=) but i only pick out my eyelashes. thats rlly sweet tho

  • what about pulling out eyebrows? How do i stop?

  • @blueeyes2194

Well I'm not a doctor but you could try some home-brew psychology. I have almost cured myself of arachnophobia doing this, I gave myself a treat if I'd seen a spider. It's about creating an association that you want, you could take a really cold shower when you pull your hair or something like that, but positive associations are easier to self-impose, so maybe reward yourself for going a period of time without pulling your hair. It is surprisingly effective.

  • i have that it does not work but ashley its related to deprersion but you do need help

  • theres no point in going on meds for something that can be treated by an electric razor :} keep working on it and let us know!

  • hi my name is stefani and ive had trich since i was like 7 or 8 and it really really does suck and i happy that i no im not the only one struggling, i was wondering if ur wearing a wig and what type of wig it is because i want one just like that but black and i was hoping u can help me plz and thnk u hope to hear back from you soon, please write me back to my email at salinas.stefani@yahoo.com

  • I just launched this site...it may be all you need to cure your trich...

    quittrich. com

  • how do u do this?! i've been pulling my eyelashes and eyebrows for about two years now! and let me tell u hate it!! i can't count the number of times i've cried myself asleep feeling like a hideous beast! and it doesn't help that i have orange/red hair (natural) that people like to mess around and make comments like ginger, carrot top, ugly, and so on.. i want to stop but i can't..? i have had fake nails but i found a way to pull. i don't know what to do. and what medications? i take some but

  • @CuRrEnTiNfAtUaTiOn00

Bullying is a natural instinct, it is a way of establishing the pecking order. You yourself have probably bullied someone at some time in your life. This behaviour has to be taught out of children and the less intelligent are the slowest to learn and some never do. There's nothing wrong with you, they are slow.

Medication might keep your spirits up but it wont solve your problems. You have to grow as a person and learn to respect and appreciate yourself.

  • I too suffer from trichotillomania. I pluck and pull from the scalp. I am 14 years old and I used to have very thick hair and I have now noticed that my hair looks much thinner and it isn't from a haircut. I have the urge to pull of the root and then throw the hair away. I also look through my hair. It has gotten very bad. Sometimes I don't pay attention at all and just keep plucking and looking.

  • @Shoesrule1317

me too i have been doing it since i was 12 or 13 and now im 16...it sucks i pull the hairs at the back of my head it the inner part so everyone doesnt know i do it.but my hair aways has to be down but my har is alot thinner now and even with my hair down there are parts that look shorter then the rest and i always try to cover it up with my long hair..it sucks..T_T

  • @xSasuNaruAmutox i've been trying to find ways to cover my bald spot. i have been resorting to a knit hat. luckily they are in style for back to school. the issue is that it's so hot. yet, i don't want to pluck so i wear the hat. the thing that bothers me right now is that people say just stop then. it's so hard to stop. thats what i wish others knew.

  • @Shoesrule1317 I feel the exact same way! I only pull out my eyelashes, but people notice and tell me to stop. I tell them it's a mental thing and to leave me alone. It's starting to annoying with gossip and such, but I know everyone who has this can make it.

  • Trich is more likely a symptom of Tourette's. Not a lot of people realize that certain mannerisms they might have are all blanketed under Tourette's and other tic disorders. I grew up having a lot of different tics from age 6, I had hair pulling and a lot of other things, and still have them today (age 20 now). I grew up with a million different reasons why I did these things (sniffing was allergies, excessive blinking meant I needed glasses) people need to become more aware of these things.

  • hypothesis: The cuter/hotter the girl, the longer the comments.

  • i am so happy for you!

  • Medicine doesnt treat; ive been taking it for 1 year and it doesnt.. and yeah its not a cure but its going somewhere.

  • p.s. i actually started to take zoloft recently and i noticed it seriously helps me... but as i said before, my trich comes from OCD. anyways good luck... everyon has a way to beat it... this way is strange to m, but if u believe it will work.. hey you never know. i was actually told that everytime i get the urge to pull my eyelashes, that i sould draw eyes and erase the lashes... which i thought was fuckin crazy... tried it out... and hey... it kinda helped a littl... so any little bit helps

  • thats a wig?? it looks real!!!...i considered shaving my head also, its getting bad :(

  • so brain is he !

    thank you!

  • it's amazing that you want to help people with tricch. people don't talk about this problem, and that's why when you have tricch, you think you're alone in the world with this very strange dissease. i'm very proud of you.
