Look at the liberal effect on our country. 13 trillion to fight the war on poverty and the same people and their grandkids are still poor. How's that working out for us? Look at Medicare and Medicade. None of those programs operate in the black. Everything the liberals touch costs too much and hurts the society. The debt was not caused by a "war on poverty." It was caused by the wars in iraq and afghanistan as well as the drug war. It costs $190 million a day to keep the war in AF going.

Do you know that the us still has troops in places like germany, russia, japan, even britian? Thats wasteful spending. Also, the war on drugs is clearly failing, and everyone we meaninglessly put in jail for this small amount of pot or whatever costs taxpayers $50,000 annually to keep them there.

In fact I would say we should have done far more as far as killing the terrorists. While saying all this do you realize how much money we have spent on welfare since the 60's? Wiki Answers says it is 9 trillion. I'd say it has been more. But you have to admit 9 trillion is a lot of money and the people are still poor

Since the 60's. You do realize the us had a surplus during the clinton admin (in 1999), a nice healthy one that bush chopped to pieces with his 2001 tax cuts, which added 1.3 trillion to the deficit, and helped the rich far more than any other group under the guise of the trickle down theory, which is nothing more than a poor excuse. 9 tril is a lot, but that money goes back into the economy because it helps the people who benefit from it to get on their feet and find work.

During Clinton's final year we were heading into a recession. The tax cuts of GWB brought us out of it. Money to the treasury went way up. Then we went to war. You said 9 trillion helped people. How? Did they get out of poverty? No, we have had generational poverty b/c of entitlements.
