@crv and pineapple I have lived and ridden all over the country, from the East to the Rockies to the Sierras. You want to know where it's best? Wherever the snow is!
Debating about "Colorado" vs. Tahoe is about as noob as it gets. As if Breck, Crested Butte and Aspen Highlands are the same. Oh, and it's called Sierra Cement, not California Concrete.
On December 24,2006 at 8 o'clock in the morning, a young 14 year old boy by the name of Scott Jackson was found dead.Doctors couldn't come up with the cause of his death. His mother checked his emails to see if she could figure out what happened.Turns out he was still signed into myspace. She found he had gone to sleep after he read and didn't repost a chain letter.if you don't repost this to 6 videos a girl with no face will kill you tonight. sorry don't wanna die
@pineappaloupe i am actually moving back to tahoe. i would still take colorado over tahoe. tahoe is a blast but the snow is wet and heavy. there is nothing above 9000 feet. enough said.
@pineappaloupe agreed. if i implied coverage, that was not what i meant. colorado has nice dry snow, especially at higher elevation. tahoe always gets good coverage. i lived in tahoe for 12 years and we have a local saying called "california concrete." here is my implication: you are building a booter for four plus hours, then you have a limited transition/landing. you can get one stomp in the snow because it packs hard. i have stomped three times in the same spot in colorado's condition.
@pineappaloupe sorry bro two more things: LOL at the "heavenly" comment. so true. second, you are correct in the tree patterns. that was one of the reason i ended up buying a sled in order to get off the beaten path.
I can assure you, it's not a standard lift. It's unique because it goes up very steeply to 2,500m from basically the resort parking lot. On top: the lake view, extreme chutes, cliffs, California sun, an occasional big redwood tree and you aren't even on the main part of Squaw Valley yet. The place is a national treasure. Alps are very cool too, in a different way. That's why I like both.
Shane's so cool. Not too many folks of his character and caliber. Rest in Peace,. Perhaps he is dropping into those pillow lines in the ski!
Haven' skied Squaw in some years but has it actual come to cattle gates on KT? Shit that's pathetic. I ski at a place/resort in the Sierra where one can ski powder laps, on epic terrain all day long. DOn't miss the "Powder hour" at Squaw at all.
He added everything else he loved to skiing - waterskiing planks, BASE jumping, and finally wingsuit flying. Fly like a bird, about 1 in 400 risk of dying :-( The end of an icon.
"there's something about McConkey" is a great ridiculous ski movie and portrait of the man.
Shane - RIP man. You were a legend of a ski generation and an awesome all round guy. It was a pleasure to have met and been inspired by you. Your memory will live on! Mike
What a way to go out though. Jumping off a cliff doing what he loved and hopefully a painless death. Your name has, does and will continue to inspire generations from all around the world.

@crv26 it isn'y always wet and heavy. most good storm start wet and finish dry, so coverage is never an issue.
