  • @crv and pineapple I have lived and ridden all over the country, from the East to the Rockies to the Sierras. You want to know where it's best? Wherever the snow is!

  • Shanes awesome

  • Long Live Shane

  • probably showing God how to ski naked right now.

  • Wait... Is the guy talking the guy who died

  • Debating about "Colorado" vs. Tahoe is about as noob as it gets. As if Breck, Crested Butte and Aspen Highlands are the same. Oh, and it's called Sierra Cement, not California Concrete.

  • Highlands and Crested Butte are similar, Breck sucks.

  • I an proud to say that I skid of that rock at 0:27 and I've ridden kt22 on my visit to squaw

  • screw that pirson

  • ive done the finger on a powder day. and i was 15. and a girl. and alone. oh yess XD

    my definite favorite lift ever.

    Oh and RIP Shane.

  • R.I.P. Shane McConkey

  • i just start crying when ever i see Shane :( S.I.P.

  • S.i.P cant belief how good that guy could ski

  • He died basejumping with skis, he didnt get his ski's of in time and fell to the ground. S.I.P Shane Mcconkey

  • He was 40 years old why did he die?

  • RIP Shane McConkey

  • i think squaw is better than colorado

  • That's because Squaw is better than Colorado.

  • @colecampbell666 i want what you are smoking. lived in tahoe for years, ill take Colorado any day.

  • @crv26 even heavenly hit almost 500" this year...

  • @crv26 and the trees in CO tighter than a nuns hole. ill take red fir and jeffery pine forest any day

  • @pineappaloupe i am actually moving back to tahoe. i would still take colorado over tahoe. tahoe is a blast but the snow is wet and heavy. there is nothing above 9000 feet. enough said.

  • @crv26 it isn'y always wet and heavy. most good storm start wet and finish dry, so coverage is never an issue.

  • @pineappaloupe agreed. if i implied coverage, that was not what i meant. colorado has nice dry snow, especially at higher elevation. tahoe always gets good coverage. i lived in tahoe for 12 years and we have a local saying called "california concrete." here is my implication: you are building a booter for four plus hours, then you have a limited transition/landing. you can get one stomp in the snow because it packs hard. i have stomped three times in the same spot in colorado's condition.

  • @pineappaloupe sorry bro two more things: LOL at the "heavenly" comment. so true. second, you are correct in the tree patterns. that was one of the reason i ended up buying a sled in order to get off the beaten path.

  • I can assure you, it's not a standard lift. It's unique because it goes up very steeply to 2,500m from basically the resort parking lot. On top: the lake view, extreme chutes, cliffs, California sun, an occasional big redwood tree and you aren't even on the main part of Squaw Valley yet. The place is a national treasure. Alps are very cool too, in a different way. That's why I like both.

  • looks like a pretty standard chair lift, but i do only go to the alps;)

  • We miss you, Shane.

  • haha, 1:43 .. m-town what!

  • Shane's so cool. Not too many folks of his character and caliber. Rest in Peace,. Perhaps he is dropping into those pillow lines in the ski!

Haven' skied Squaw in some years but has it actual come to cattle gates on KT? Shit that's pathetic. I ski at a place/resort in the Sierra where one can ski powder laps, on epic terrain all day long. DOn't miss the "Powder hour" at Squaw at all.

  • always be missed, RIP

  • He added everything else he loved to skiing - waterskiing planks, BASE jumping, and finally wingsuit flying. Fly like a bird, about 1 in 400 risk of dying :-( The end of an icon.

"there's something about McConkey" is a great ridiculous ski movie and portrait of the man.

  • The good always die young.

  • shane is my biggest influence in skiing and in life. RIP

  • "Because I'm Shane McConkey dammit, and I'm not done yet!" R.I.P. Shane! You were the greatest!

  • We'll always remember you Shane. R.I.P.

  • We'll miss you shane =' ) Rest in Peace, died from doing what you love

  • R.I.P. Shane McConkey

    R.I.P. Saucer boy.

  • R.I.P shane

  • Almost too hard to watch... Fly free brother.

  • Shane - RIP man. You were a legend of a ski generation and an awesome all round guy. It was a pleasure to have met and been inspired by you. Your memory will live on! Mike

  • got to ski KT today

    RIP Shane

  • RIP SHANE

  • You da!!!!!!!!!!

  • he will be sorely missed. RxIxP Shane.

What a way to go out though. Jumping off a cliff doing what he loved and hopefully a painless death. Your name has, does and will continue to inspire generations from all around the world.
