sweet video, whats the name of the first song? cant really read the font, you ever hear of a band called point blank? not nearly as heavy as these bands, but check out free man by them has a pretty sweet break down section.
@cowbelltell thank you, the name of the song it's heavy hands-she got it and no, never heard of them, if you want to recommend me something i'll be waiting on my messages....cheers,Jordan
@Malady Cheers! thanks man.. i was looking for bedemon (pre-pentagram) i don't know to me it's more kinda macabre but i like too much pentagram from 70s and 80s!
shit...this stuff is killer..I did not know even one single band in the list (I know a different Dom) and I do not (did not...until now) consider myself absolutely clueless in things music. you are truly a walking music encyclopedia. thank you for this.
@MLGxSLasH I made a typo, so I redid it. And you're welcome. I knew most of the bands, however I actually went about bought a Lucifer Was CD because of this.
Thank you for the brilliant list! So many great bands that i (shamefully) have nvr heard of. I guess one must look back to the past to find good music. Cheers!
Ever notice how 95% of these groups have been opportunistically forgotten or written out of history? Ha! Welcome to the real world, boys and girls. Media people like to omit and glaze over that which interferes with their nice, pre-ordered vision of rock's evolution. Ever notice how that pre-Sabbath group Coven has been sent to the mists of time? They even had a member named 'Oz Osbourne'! This video functions like 'A Secret History of Alternative Rock Music in the 1960s and 1970s'.
@MLGxSLasH guitar tone reminded me a bit off sunn00 not in an offensive just that drone sound, anyway i dont give a fuck if i offended you your just a nobody.
Some of these lesser-known bands that came after, say, 1972, may have been Sabbath wannabes, but I think the ones prior to 1972 (Cheer, Cactus, Holden, Bloodrock, Broughton, Budgie, and others), were very much pioneers who were treading some new ground--and taking some arrows, because people didn't understand them, they were the "freakiest of the freaks"
Nice to see Cheer and Sabbath weren't alone as the "Fathers of Fuzztone" and the "Sultans of Sludge"! (By the way, why DON"T they make fuzz that sounds cool like that anymore!)
this was the best list of early heavy metal i've ever seen. 60 and 70 metal is so cool, cause it kept much of the blues and psychedelic rock influences, which became lost in (most) later heavy metal.
I must say that this is the best Tracklist on Youtube (along with your second part). Definitely we have the same music taste. A friend from Colombia salutes you
Pretty damn cool list...... there are definitely a few obscure things here that I haven't heard before! I just wish some of the song clips went on longer!!
