@ErichWr Yes, we have developed the belief that sharks are naturally aggressive towards humans. The reality is however, we are more aggressive to them! It is amazing, yet sad how much movies can influence our belief systems.
@TCharlieA So it should be as there are too many historical flaws in Amadeus to consider it noteworthy or even accurate, no mention of Schubert for instance!
I don't know why he is depicted as a mediocre composer...I mean he wasn't famous for ages to come but his music has made a return and he instructed Franz Shubert, Beethoven, and Liszt... I'd say that's a pretty successful life
Salieri is my great (ect) cousin on my mothers side, and he is BRILLIANT!! I have a bunch of copies of his music in my room that I play. Amadeus is a rather inaccurate movie, however, it does portray Salieri as a man of greatness. He trully was "The Toast of Europe". he was financhly well while Mozart...was...well..broke!! And Salieri wasn't solically awkward either. So, A toast to Salieri!!
What makes this piece inferior to requiem? The instrumental voicing, lyrics, ritardandos, and overall structure are clearly inferior. But the thing that stands out the most to me is how boring the melody is.
Amadeus was an entertaining film, but total fiction. Yet, without the popularity of the movie, who would know about Salieri today? So, although some uneducated people believe the false portrait of Salieri painted in the film Amadeus, we can now at least listen to his divine genius.
At least more people do know him now! After the movie `Amadeus´ Salieri can only improve his public worshipment. Mozart, after all, can only decline... Besides: there is nothing to match Greatgrandmaster Joh.Seb. Bach! He was so smart never doing Operas and his work lasts for ever! Even Salieri uses the unconscious influences of Bachs late-stile. I like only the church-music of Mozart. To many notes...
Salieri blamed God for the allowance of the death of Mozart, but it was his Envy that changed the course of time and the plans God had for Salieri and Mozart. Salieri could have the chance of becoming the greatest composer, but Mozart came and Salieri saw him as a superior, instead of a challenge or a rival. Salieri took defeat to Mozart instead of taking the courage of pushing himself up to become even greater than Mozart.
@DavidEppursimuove LOL! Just think about Salieri VS Mozart!... Salieri its a little bug! without offence to Salieri.... If you ask any one who knows about music.
Its easier sing something from Salieri, But sing something from Mozart its beautiful and melodic compositions is a triunf to every ear and harder. Salieri was respect in his time just because had good influences who help him... nothing else!
@DavidEppursimuove Salieri Salieri Salieri ok! Salieri won! (in your stranger world! of course) LOL In the real world Mozart is recognize in every single country!
Is what Salieri says in Amadeus true though that Salieri saw his music grow fainter as he grew older, whereas Mozart's music continued to be played in opera houses and concerts 30 years after his death?
@JohnnieNaked that is too bad, that only a few of us believe that there are other magnificent composers other than Mozart, Beethoven and Bach. Not that Mozart, Beethoven and Bach aren't magnificent, but just saying...
@JohnnieNaked What gives you the right to say " Clearly Mozart was superior to Salieri."? If that was your opinion, I'll respect it. But that doesn't mean it is a fact.
@gajda1984 Right of free speech? Also, it's not really a matter of opinion as your post seems to imply. It's about the quality and lasting-ness of the music (which can be measured). Mozart was a master of repetition, hook, theme, voice, and wrote what are still considered by musical experts to be the best operas ever written. We know of Mozart because he was a musical GIANT. We know of Salieri because he was a contemporary of Mozart, nothing more.
@gajda1984 Im not saying he sucks, but overall Mozart was a better composer and there is just no debate. I mean, if you argued for Salieri being a better composer with just about anyone on this planet, including historians and music experts they would almost without exception laugh in your face.
@JohnnieNaked Dude listen, I am not saying this requiem is better than Mozart's requiem. But I am not saying it is worse either per se. All I am saying is I wish people would think outside the box. @JohnnieNaked We know of Mozart because he is a prodigy. We are always worried about prodigies that we forget about those that have hidden talents and need a hand up.

"The Movie "Amadeus" has ruined too much the Salieri's image, he's not Mozart, but it's cruel saying that he wasn't a good composer! I really like it!"
You formed your opinion based on Hollywood trash?!
@ZambroCassa29 I read on the Wikipedia that Mozart had Salieri tutor his son, incidentally the movie and play are based on the fact that Salieri claimed he killed Mozart but this was after he lost his mind in old age. Also the man in black in the movie was not Salieri but someone else probably not in Salieri's caliber of talent.
@Firejack95 True sometimes I find myself checking up on stuff I checked up. It is well known that Salieri did have some kind of mental imbalance later in his life. So his claim of murdering Mozart is not reliable.
Incorrect. The German ruined Salieri's image during growing tensions of nationalism. The image of Salieri (and Italians in general) as being the "bad guys" began in the 19th century. There was actually another play (german) based on these two which also depicted Salieri as a bad guy, so do not think it was the film. It was anti-Italian propaganda that at this point is almost two centuries old.
@ZambroCassa29 It was never meant to show Salieri as a poor composer; he wasn't. What it attempted was to illustrate the difference between a man of talent versus a man of genius.

Buenas noches, cuidate mucho.

I think Salieri is really great composer. We should consider his job much more.
