  • This guy can parkour

  • I REALLY do not want to get into something in fear of breaking my neck. Its too bad that im finding out that im going to have to learn this stuff.

  • ajjajajajjajajajajajajajajjajajajajajjajajajjajaaj

  • Very nicely done ukemi. These are not breakfalls, though.

  • Well done. You seem very "soft" when falling. That's the level i want to reach.

  • Very graceful. I hope to get to your standard of breakfall

  • @qloudz Start smal and gently.. once you get your shape right the rest will "fall" into place...

  • I haven't seen anyone do better ukemi than that.

  • I can't stop watching this, I love the sound or lack of as you hit the mat. I see this was posted a few years ago, are you still training and will you be uploading anything new? thanks for the videos you have!!!!

  • @Mikesvids2 Hi and Thanks for the kind words. Yes, still training pretty much ful time (AikidoAuckland dot co dot nz) is us... also check out Aikido4beginners dot co dot uk for other stuff. Hope to post some more ukemi and maybe a Jo kata I am working on in the near future. regards

  • @Aiki33 great to hear you're still at it and I would love to check out more of your videos. I've been training in Shorinji Kan Jiu Jitsu for the past 4 years and really enjoy break falling and am always looking to improve on it. again thanks for the videos and I look froward to seeing more...

  • very skillful !

  • This is easy -.-

  • @guthixownyou Glad you think so. Looking forwards to seeing you video.

  • WOOW!! invisible guy is attacking this dude!!! O.O

  • damnnn this is really good. haven't seen ukemi like that before, so smooth and such a nice shape. wish i could do that someday.

  • very nice !!

  • @itachi123100 start low and work up to it. you can see theem all on the DVD "Aikido - The first Steps" ;0) on amazonor message me.

  • @Aiki33

aikido4beginners.co.uk has the book and DVD

  • it looks like hes flying :o i wanna do that someday

  • Looks hard and painful.

  • @Starlight51230 completely comfortable. a circle has no bumpy bits LOL

  • That is very smooth. Thanks for posting this. I'm two months into aikido and my hips are killing me from bouncy front rolls :)

  • I wonder if steven seagal can flip like that, maybe not now but in is younger years im sure he could! Bc hes the Aikido Master!

  • Those r the coolest flips i have ever seen!

  • Checked out Joe Rogan's blog and can't see anything? Can you post a link?

  • @Aiki33

where can i buy this dvd?

    thanks

  • Most decent martial arts shops have it - if not flick me an email direct (email on my profile page)

    thanks

  • You would be happy to know that Joe Rogan himself posted this on his blog. Great video.

  • Very nice.

  • smooth falling

  • once you can form a circle, the 'falling' becomes rolling. The way in which ukemi recycles energy in Aikido is typical of the fundaments of the art.

  • fun to watch. You ukemis are lovely and relaxed. If I may be so bold as to repeat the words of my teacher "try to make the least noise you can when you roll".

    best regards.

  • @Fangen88

Your sensei has it spot on!

  • Start slowly and you'll be fine!

  • so wanna freakin learn 9/9

  • hmm this looks kinda strange to me.... that guy is completely stiffed up :/

  • Stiff? I'm not sure what you mean by that?

  • I agree!

  • Great it works, i can see it. looks good and much more important it sounds good. Nice flow.

Now i have somthing more I will learn.

  • Nice Ukemi! Thanks for uploading.

  • That's so good that it looks almost fake! I'm so crap at it :(

  • Try rolling solely on your left side for 5 mins each practise, and focus on the shape and the angle through the body. If you are a bit one-sided, sometimes if helps to push a bit harder off the back foot to compensate, until your muscle memory 'catches up". With practise things should balance out.

let me know how you get on.

    DF

  • damn my ukemi is good but he just makes it look so easy. i've tried it his way but the left side has "issues"

  • he realy can do it.... when i try it looks like a faceplant...

  • Glad it was useful.

  • I just bought the DVD - thanks for the recommendation. Really helpful and I love al the slow motion sections. excellent!!

  • wow that was incredible! could u possibly make tutorial please?

  • There is a DVD available - "Aikido - the first steps". Most good martial arts stock it (or check out TradeMe). Thanks

  • Nice wheels

  • Thankyou

  • AMAZING!!! I know i may sound completly ignorant for asking but what form of martial arts is this? thanks for any reply.

  • I am a student of Aikido, but circular breakfalls are found in many martial arts.

  • Man if I envy you...and my back envies you too LOL. Great Ukemi.

  • Thanks LOL! Seriously though, it's amazing how flexible your back gets with regular stretching and LOTS of correctly-shaped ukemi...

  • very nice ukemi. I was wondering if a slight rotator cuff tear (only feel the pain when stretching overhead and back far)would stop someone from learning Aikido.

  • I'm recovering at the moment from the exact same injury - 18 in to rehab now and back to about 90%. Ukemi never a problem as it is body shape that ake the roll - your arms take virtually no weight or stress at all.

  • Is that hard floor?

  • tatami mats. The surface should be irrelevant if the roll is circular.

  • isn't there a ninjutsu dojo in auckland too?

  • I belwive so - I know someone that trains with them.

  • is it real?? if so it is fantastic!!!

  • 100% genuine I assure you!! LOL.

If you are ever in Auckland pop in to the dojo.

  • BRILLIANT!

  • Most people here say he was a 1st or 2nd dan in the mid nineties. I just found it curious he's now the same grade or highter than his teachers...

  • A very good observation indeed. I don't think this is an appropriate place to comment. Let's just say that the technical director of the Institute of Aikido worldwide have NEVER awarded a rank higher than 5th dan.

  • Have you trained with or know about John Langley who is 7th dan Institute of Aikido in Perth Western Australia? I noticed the similarities in ukemi.

  • We did a summer school together in the UK back in the late 1990's - John was a 5th dan then I believe - I'm afraid I don't know who awarded him 6th and 7th dan though but I'm sure it wasn't from the Institute of Aikido UK so any technical similarities may just be co-oincidental.

  • Excellent - really nice movement.

  • Thanks. When I first started at The Hut the mats were straw tatami, so we all learnt to roll smoothly prety quick!

  • jeah looks really cool

  • thanks!

  • a beautiful shape. this is the best shape ukemi i've seen on video for a long time.

  • realy cool - a real aiki circle!

  • cool!

  • vERY NICE UKEMI
