Raine sounds nothing like Corgan. Stop saying that. This song I don't believe was released in the US only Canada. Their second single Starseed garnered airplay in both countries.

I have heard that song before and I can still say with all honesty that Rush sucks. I can't handle their sound. I respect them as musicians because they have been around forever. Nevertheless their music induces headaches.
Yea dude Nickleback suck giant dong. Any one who likes them is a fag. They are infesting my country with their faggy horrible sounding shitty music. Thanks for the crap, Canada.
This comment has received too many negative votesshow
You're an idiot to think RUSH sucks. and OLP is nothing but a Smashing Pumpkins rip off. Raine tries too much to sound like the singer of that band and their singer (Billy Coragan) also stated that they rip his band off on Much some yrs ago.
@TheConstruct dude... OLP is much bigger than Smashing Pumpkins will ever be.. plus listen to OLP's newer albums, Raine sounds nothing like Billy, He just doesn't sound like he did in this album and clumsy, unfortunately they changed there sound..
@justjoshenaround i dont know, i think smashing pumpkins are more famous than OLP, at least in America. idk about Canada. although OLP is much better in my opinion
I actually didn't hate Healthy in Paranoid Times as much as a lot of people seem to. Some of the tracks are bad, but there are solid ones that just sound different from their older stuff. I agree that Gravity was a giant what-the-fuck, though. It's decent pop-rock but it just doesn't have the soul of their old stuff.
Also I miss it when Raine wrote poetry for lyrics instead of 'hey I like this girl a lot."
Honestly, I think everything after spiritual machines is shitty, but I also think that Naveed and Clumsy are the only two albums you can willfully listen to all the way through without skipping around.
Agreed, except I think Happiness is not a fish you can catch was as good as Naveed and Clumsy too. They turned into fucking Nickelback or something with Gravity, I can't tell that album apart from all the other mainstream albums that sound exactly the same.
Naveed was their best album, Clumsy was fairly good too, but it sounds like a re-thinking of Naveed rather than something brand new. After those two albums I just kind of ignored the band.
i agree with Naveed being their best album. however, the albums following clumsy aren't all that bad. most of it definitely shows either a lack of musical collaboration on their part, or a strong influence from outside sources such as record companies/producers. but, there are a few songs in the later albums that are still relevant to the bands origins. it's a shame though that you can't just pop those albums in and listen to them all the way through like this one.
There was a best of thing that came out in 2006 that wasn't bad, since it was their best....I really like OLP....they're my sister's favourite band, so that's how I know about them.
Naveed, Clumsy and Happiness is not a fish..are the defining albums of Our Lady Peace before they changed their style to please US radio airwaves. Raine was RAW with his sound in these albums and went super soft in Gravity, that album was weak sauce.

theres way too many comments saying "this was there only good album, after they went more alternative they sucked" ya it was deffinitlly there best, but to say the later stuff sucks, is total BS, its is still amazing music, aslong as raine is singing for them, they always will be amazing
do you know for a fact that Chris was fed his basslines ? , being a bassplayer myself i can tell you for a fact that Chris plays much better, with more conviction and has a much better bass sound then duncan.
why is it that when Chris left they started to sound "TOP40" , "girly songs" ?
there's no doubt in my mind that OLP went soft on us after Chris and Mike left.
I agree with Mike, but after Chris left they came out with Clumsy, they're best album to date with their hit song Superman's Dead, now I dunno about you but Superman's Dead is not soft and girly, not only Superman's Dead, but Automatic Flowers and Clumsy, all attributed to the unique sound of that album. After that they came out With Happiness... which IMO was their best album, which again is certainly not poppy. Two things contributed to their decline, Bob Rock and a lack of Mike Turner.
once again, i'm a bass player and i choose Chris over duncan ANYDAY, i never liked duncan's sound or basslines. you're right though Clumsy was a good album, not their best i prefer Naveed. i noticed the bass was sub-standard after the first album but still liked Mike and jeremy's work even though raine was loosing his voice. i saw them live a few times ...and raine was singning most of the high parts an octave lower... sad !
true true. however, a large part of their sound was and still is raine. lets be optimistic and think that their next album will be a return to this if his head's in the right place. aka less pop, more olp.
You realize that 'alternative' isn't the same thing as 'pop' right?
When you listen to stuff like this, - and everything off of Clumsy and Naveed, especially - that's one thing. Stuff like "Somewhere Out There" is something totally different, and the latter would easily be considered more 'pop' than 'alternative'. And seeing how stuff like that make up more of their newer stuff...I'm not really sure what you're getting at.
You realize the lines between the two terms are so blurred these days that they might as well mean the same thing. To anyone with both eyes open, they mean pretty much nothing though.
I think everything after Spiritual Machines went in the crapper. Some of the songs on Gravity are OK, and I wonder if they're the ones Mike worked on before he split.
fantastic album but personally i think their best album ever was clumsy. happiness was awesome too, spiritual machines was ok, gravity was a new direction, and healthy in paranoid times was alright. i still love love this band though.

yea actually, I dont think its too bad, im more blaming bob rock and im really lookin forward to the next album, and hoping it will be like the older albums. I also notice you're quite the AiC fan, and id just like to say that alice in chains is fucking amazing and layne staley was an unreal singer.
Personally, Our Lady Peaces first three albums are the best. Spiritual Machines and Gravity have their moments but anything after that is just less interesting in my opinion.
Absolutely their best album. They just had so much energy in their music and videos for this album, compared to the rest of their newer songs. I hate seeing bands get slower the older they get. Metallica is the best example.
THIS VIDEO IS AWESOME! Hahaha, sweet hair. Geez, you can tell this is an old video. The boys look so young. This was released before I was even born. I love OLP's style, it's so unique from other mainstream rock.
It is a pretty classic grunge looking video. There really was a method back then to making videos that every band had to follow. Crazy old man, check, weird broken bird cage, check, colorful sunset background, check, bad grunge hair - those were the days!
Dude OLP got there own unique style...how are they ripoff and NIRVANA????U FREAKN SERIUS! I THINK THEYRE BETTER THAN NIRVANA!!!but they sound like Smashing Pumpkins who agrees
Did you know that the old man in this vid happens to be on every album cover of OLP? With the exception of gravity...lets not talk about that album, it disappointed me. But they did make it up on Healthy, so I still consider them my favorite band. Besides, I remember them back when...god I feel old now...haha.
it is A lil similar but nirvana and our lady peace both rock and were heavily influential nirvana more so but i think its not so much a rip off as a praise they thought it was so good they wanted to do a similar(ish) vid that can be only een as praise and oh man why didnt we think of thatness if u see what i mean?
Wow! So early OLP you can barely recognize them. First song off the first album. I love their early stuff: gravity and on was just horrible, I'm sorry to say. :(
how can people like clumsey, happiness and spiritual machines, but not like gravity? sooo stupid! honestly, have you ever listened to the CD? lyrics of the song and defenitly just as good as before... the instrumentals changed a TINY bit, big deal, bands shouldnt sound exactly the same on every CD
The difference between "Naveed" through five more albums to "Healthy..." inclusive is So nominal. If anything the problem with OLP is a lack of range.
Having said that, they've had their formula nailed from day one. Every album has 3-6 songs that fit perfectly into their stong but limited canon.
yes.i think that each song would have their own unique sound.i discover this song because of the song somewhere out there.but i first heard them with the song sorry.i like all of their songs.all 8albums i think.need changes in life.smiles.from Philippines
and just who do you reckon OLP are trying to rip off? no way, Our Lady Peace have their own style, i can't for the life of me think of a band that they could have ripped off
Ripoff? Not quite. The only similarity is the background. I can maybe see the thing about the guy tied to the stake-thing, but in HSB it was a crusifix, in this it's like a scarecrow.
Now that's the way to fucking rock. I saw OLP back in '97.

The cartoonish guy represents Saul Fox, plus a similar character of him in the "In Repair" music video.

it is A lil similar but nirvana and our lady peace both rock and were heavily influential nirvana more so but i think its not so much a rip off as a praise they thought it was so good they wanted to do a similar(ish) vid that can be only een as praise and oh man why didnt we think of thatness if u see what i mean?

Every album has 3-6 songs that fit perfectly into their stong but limited canon.

i hate how all canadian bands just seem like lower budgeted canadian versions of certain american bands in the 90's. some bands just embarass me.
m1ke420 4 years ago
and just who do you reckon OLP are trying to rip off? no way, Our Lady Peace have their own style, i can't for the life of me think of a band that they could have ripped off

he's talking about the video.. it's a shameless ripoff.
upstartmike 4 years ago
i was too.
it's not very similar at all.
themutt2 4 years ago
Ripoff? Not quite. The only similarity is the background. I can maybe see the thing about the guy tied to the stake-thing, but in HSB it was a crusifix, in this it's like a scarecrow.

haha. saul fox.
