  • can someone tell me what that is they covered it with at 0:16 thanks

  • @bradross64 used 3 layers of 3/8 inch plywood then 1/4 inch masonite. i recommend this. if your building with intent for bikes then i suggest 4 layers of 3/8 plywood. only because bike pegs can easily destroy plywood

  • what radius did you use for the transition? thanks

  • Awesome souvenirs from ORKUS!

  • made one of these too, wish id timelapsed it! this is awesome though! got a vid on my homemade halfpipe & i swear thats a quater pipe btw?

  • @gsacklz technically what you have is a quarter pipe because you only have one transition section. you need two quarter pipes to call it a mini ramp, half pipe or a vert ramp.

  • question-is this not a half pipe?

to clarify- a mini ramp i consider to be under head height 5 feet and under. a half pipe would then be 6 feet and over but does not have verticle sections. a vert ramp has straight up and down verticle in it (this is what tony hawk rides). note: some people can call a vert ramp a half pipe as well.

  • i have 500 dollars would that be enough to buy it.

  • @KadenlKelsch yes it would be...the cheapest one is i think 400$

  • 0:19 Look at people :))

  • HOLY SHIT how long that take u thumbs up if u think its an awesome ramp

  • so fats xD

  • beautiful ramp, shtepae!!

  • fastest halfpipe i've ever seen built, 18 seconds is record time. it's taking me 2 months to build mine, hahahaha

  • how much did that cost u at that time like what u paid

  • Nice. That is about exactly what I want to get built. Is the top layer birch? What was that you sealed it with? 8' trannies?

  • ah sick, i just build 3' mini pipe, finished it yesterday.

  • Which skatepark in Montreal?

  • how long that take?

  • Thats a proper ramp.

  • ahh... not thats wot i want, but with a roll-in channel gap.

  • i want one!

  • Looks like a sweet skatepark site :D

  • can you really build it tht fast JOKE

  • Sweet, now mail it to me so I can put it in my back yard! :P

  • yourBLOODisonme -getgting those bumps smooth starts with a very well built structure. from experience its not easy getting all the curves to match and all the pieces lined up.

  • ha ha their is a lot of talk about the dollar amount to build a ramp like this. it's no simple answer. the material costs can fluctuate with the economy. the labour itself, just to give you an idea, it took four of us just under a week total to build(five days 8 hours per day). each of us had a lot of building experience and one of us is a welder as well. add to it the tools needed to build this and you have one very good but expensive ramp.

  • building the structure wouldnt be that difficult, its the finishing touches like the final surface(getting it really smooth with no bumps) that would be the hard part

  • im building a half pipe with masonite for about 400$

its not too big but it works really nice

  • R.I.P ORKUS

  • this costs more than 1000 Dollars... i swear.

i am building a big mini Ramp and it costs over 1500 €!

  • a big mini...well isnt that an oxymoron thats like saying the worlds tallest midget lol

  • alright i wanna save up to build a mini ramp behind my shed.its 8'2 1/2 x 16' long and 5'1/2 high how much plywood ramp armor,2x4s would i need and how much would it cost?

  • heyy im building a halfpipe in my backyard and i was wondering if u have any good tips for us?

  • guys ill pay u 2000$ to build one in my backyard and ill pay for ur plane ticket

  • im not any skater but that takes talent to build 5 stars*****

  • dont u just wish u could get one for £20

  • would be every skaters dream. well, and a place to put it witch is usually the bigger issue for most.

  • @trickytree2 what is a £? Does that stand for hamloafs?

  • @YoungAus91 Hamloafs? no it stands for pounds stirling (the british currency)

  • very nice ramp!

  • I'm all about helping people who want ramps faster and especially people/kids who have little money, that is what I'm about with this. If you want to build flat bottoms with 2x4, that's cool, no worries. As long as the ramp get's built that's what matters.

There are for sure better ramps than others. My personal saying is, "the only real bad ramp, is a ramp never built." I had a friend start a ramp and never finish it cause he was trying to hard to level the ground, what a shame.

  • pallets r still a terrible idea

  • Save money and time, use pallets for the flat bottom. Pallets can hold thousands of weight, and easily a couple skaters.

Spread the word, use pallets for your flat bottom. More ramps would be built if people understood this.

Check out my mini ramp vids on my youtube channel. All my 3 ramps where built with pallets, they are all solid. I've never had a hole in the flat bottom, no problem EVER!!!

Spread the word about pallets. Build more ramps, build them faster, build them cheaper!!!!!!!

  • yeah i'd have to question the integrity of using a pallet. the chances of you getting pallets perfectly square are about 1,000,000 to 1 espically if your going to go cheap and steal them. you don't want an uneven, unstable ramp do you?

second, faster is not always better. head to head quality will always win over production.

  • 1,000,000 to 1... are you serious. Just get 4 or 6 that are all the same, and your problems solved. That's common sense. I've built several ramps in my life and they've all worked peachy. Why waste wood, money and time. It is a total waste. 100% waste. Think about the structural integrity of a flat bottom made from good strong 2x4's vs. good strong pallets. It is the same. You can't tell a difference. It's the flatbottom. Think about it.

  • i am a skateramp/park builder and a licenced ticketed carpenter of 14 years.

"common sense" is building something right the first time. i have to worry about anyone riding your ramps made of pallets that are always NAILED together. what happens when a nail works its way loose? the ramp falls apart when you ride it? a nail sticks out for someone to fall on. THINK about that.

  • I put a screw into each pallet board first. 2 layers of plywood and 1 sheet of masonite and you've got enough pressure and weight for nails to start showing their heads. I've also made ramps since I was a kid, probably about 14 years too. I've made many for me and for friends. Never had a problem, and saved lots of money. I've built ramps when I had no money and for kids who couln't afford too. Keep wasting 2x4's, that's your issue. I'm trying to help people out who want to save money & time

  • Ur a dumbass . Do you see professional ramps made all ghetto and made of pallets. No you dont. Thats because having a solid and longer lasting structure is better then saving like a 100 dollars.

  • I don't want to built professional ramps, I have never claimed that. I don't want to build ramps for the city, I have also never claimed that either. I am stocked for those that do that, totally rad, but that is not my gig. Again, you fail to see the main thesis point: A structurally sound pallet lasts as long as 2x4's. That is my only point. Yes, I am a dumbass. Yes, of course! And you are totally awesome by the way. Come on man, Let's remember what skating is about.

  • u talk about saving money and using pallets but you dont even use them you buy an expensive railslide METAL mini ramp.

  • man, I've skated this before

I wish I had been better at tranny back when Orkus was around

    r.i.p.

  • now thats something i want in my back yard!

  • thats no halfpipe...

    where are the verts

  • how many people and how long did that take?

  • i want to make a halfpipe but i cant cuz i dont have enough wood :/ i can make a mini ramp thing

    not for tech deck

  • surface is not painted. indoor skate ramps most often get sheeted with masonite. it's a hard pressed composition of sawdust with a smooth finish. it appears painted in the video because of the lighting off the shiny surface.

again it appears uneven because of the video. i shot it with a wide angle lens witch tends to distort straight lines. i had to use it because it was the only way to get a 6 foot ramp with an 8 foot extension on either side.

  • what did you surface it with and paint it with???

  • how much would it cost to make 1 for a bike like not that big

  • did u guys get paid?

  • i really really really really really really really really miss orkus

  • same i always skate there bu now i have to skate at south parc. TAZ SUCKS

  • dude fuck the taz lol

  • I want to skate that

  • good luck, they recently closed the park down because the politicians here were being... well... politicians.

  • its a 6 foot ramp with 7 foot escalator on either side. in total it took four of us three days to build from scratch to welding the coping.

  • nice halfpipe how long did it tack to make thx.from moek12

  • D.C WHAREHOUSE!!!!!

  • nice! ramp!
