Nicely done, mate! Some choice phrasing and you avoided overplaying, which I think too many people do. Less isn't always more but it is sometimes the right way to go.
wooooowww!! that was fantastic!! i have a dot and i'm also a beginner. i'd love to know what the settings are on your guitar and amp. i can't seem to get the tone i want. thanks.
@kujofox: Sorry for replying to such and old message, but I think the key is that the tone is in your fingers, not in the name on the headstock of your guitar.
@jezmundberserker So you're saying you would only sound marginally better if you were playing a 60's 335 through a vintage marshall? don't get my wrong, I agree that how you play is definitely a factor, just not the only one.
@kujofox: What I think is that the a Gibson 335 costs about five times what an Epi Dot costs but it's not 5 times better. What sucks is that Gibson guitars have gotten ridiculously expensive over the years and their quality has gone down. I've played some Epis that are pretty close to a Gibson standard. I own a Gibson Les Paul (Gold Top) and it's my favorite, but I don't see the need of paying $2,000 for every guitar I own because there are nicely-priced alternatives.
This is actually a really nice sounding combination!! Microcube & Epiphone Dot... mmmm yeah something I might have to try one day, would possibly be concerned about the size of the guitar but it's about sound too!
I'm really impressed with the Microcube. You can get some great tones out of it and it's one of the cheapest bits of kit I own. I agree with you about the size of the Dot, I'm not a big guy but it is a really comfortable guitar once you get used to it
that's my setup too; but i just have the regular sunburst one =-p o, my favorite song from the clapton solo catalogue too~~ (you should checkout the live version from the concert dvds, '24nights' & 'hyde' park, the soloing leaves one breathless, perfect tension building epic solos =-)
I just want to know if this guitar is heavy?
