lol If people will see 1 video about city (from game Infinity) They think this game is about cities. If they see 1 video about universe they think The whole game is only about free space. But no one realized how big this game is :)
I feel like this video is graphically enhanced outside the game to make it look better than it actually is...I think sounds are added into the video that aren't in the game, too. I would love to be proven wrong so I could think it actually -is- this awesome.
Is this a static area, made for Infinity? BLASPEMY! Well, I guess a procedurally generated Capital might be a little inconsistent... but I'm sure building placement on the outskirts will be random :P
I do believe the website makes refurances to how the entire game up to like 99% of everything you do or see or get or everything will be player created in some way so there will be very limited NPC activity. Hence the reasoning for why its a FPS game rather than an EVE online clone, Really look forward to at least giving it a shot, tobad it won't be ready for beta for another 2 or 3 years.
@TaisenkiByakko The game itself should have free-flight around cities; also you are probably going to be able to trade goods at spaceports, plus transport supplies from the spaceport(s) to various installations and factories, and move the products of those factories and installations back to the spaceport for sale, although most of that sort of thing should be done by NPCs anyway
@spearoflife It's actually more like 200 Billion (no one will ever know the true number, being procedurally generated and taking 10,000 odd years to sit there and count that high) but as you say, "will be" included, as in, not just yet :)
What's finished is the game/physics engine, solar system and galaxy generators, a whole bunch of models, plus a basic control system, no real gameplay as such just yet, should be good when it all gets put together ‘though.
@Naibasaki I think IA or infinity Admin actually said that it was 200 million specifically it may be billions. It is interesting how he implements these things though , so that he can be lazy and not have to model every planet because of algorithmic generation.
@spearoflife No, he said it was our Milky Way galaxy and would be as accurate as possible to the number of stars in it (which happens to be somewhere between 100-400(B)illion in a space approximately 100,000 light-years across
It requires the same amount of work to get a result of around 200billion as apposed to 200million thanks to the way the galaxy generator’s been designed, and the servers and databases only need to keep up with player actions so that shouldn’t be an issue either.
Of course the ships’ FTL speeds will need to be rather insane if you want to be able to cross the galaxy in under a month real-time but I suppose that can all be worked out in the beta =D
No release date, right now it's been in development five years and is still considered pre-alpha. I don't believe this is using the I-Novae engine, this is purely a concept of what travel through a city in I:TQFE might be like. The HUD is also conceptual, for anyone wondering, and there's no decision on what the final HUD will look like, or even an idea.
Infinity is going to be free with the option of paying for more features, i think the ccolest thing about this game will be the intricacy of it, 200 billion planets, each that could take 4+ hours to fully explore, truley worthy of praise
Google Infinity, the quest for earth. It's the game's web page. This is part of the game engine that the programmer's been working on. It's part of the reason why this game has such a huge hype even though it's independent and hasn't even released more than a combat simulator yet.
It's in first person, so yeah, it won't change perspective.
I have been following the official site. I just need to confirm whether this is a render like a teaser or actual gameplay where a/THE DEV/lol is controlling the ship that is recorded here.
It's prerendered to showcase some of the city models. That said, unlike most other teasers you'll see for other games, you should get a similar experience in the actual game.
Stunning footage. HUD looks decent already, perhaps tone it down a little, as the environment looks so neat. Kudos ! Let's hope this game is not vapourware, it could become the MMOG of the decade.
@fahrenheit455 Keep in mind that with all of the people in the world (prox. 7,5 billion) playing this game, your chances at actually meeting someone is < 1%
@Ranger10700 I understand that. Still doesn't defeat the point of what I said. It's been in development for a decade. regardless of how many people. it does look beautiful, and I really want to play it. I just highly doubt we will ever see a finished product, without the backing of some larger company...
While this is a render from a 3d modelling program, There is nothing that couldn't look the same as in-game.

Cockpit view, like in the demos, would be one of the best aspects of the game. They should stick with this hud, Cockpit view, and 3rd person.

otherwise. Thats amazing. However...Might get kinda boring if you can't do anything in the city! Or rather...kinda pointless
