Thanks to your guide I'm off to a better start than my first character :) First time round, level 12 Dark Elf mage with 128 Magicka. This time round, 2-3 hours played, level 3 Breton mage with 240 Magicka and spell absorption. I'm pretty much invincible, and your Ancestor Ghost recharging trick helps tonnes too.
The one thing that put me off this game was the Cliff Racers. I know, an enemy you can kill in 1-2 hits ruins my experience, but every 5 meters theres one floating around and their so obnoxious!
@00jamesdeere00 Looks are not everything. Saying the game sucks because it's on console is pretty unappreciative of the original design which in my opinion was an amazing game on it's own. I've played morrowind with modded environments on pc and yes it does look beautiful but I just felt like posting what I played more of which is the original.
@SmurfOntheRocks glad you find the video helpful, I found many people just quit right away so I wanted to encourage them to keep playing. It can be discouraging at the beginning. As for that atronoch sign I think it works like you absorb 50% of the time, sometimes I absorb a full spell and other times I get hit, not sure exactly how it works.
I like you. Your not the type of gamer that judges a game on the first run. Games like the Elder Scrolls series are about the setting and the story. I don't play them for the chance to be overpowered, I love looking at the beauty and strangeness, and the story. Personally, Morrowind was the key-point in my childhood that inspired me to peruse a job in the video game industry.
@KayaSadao Thanks for the comment. Indeed, the beauty, strangeness, and the story are things I value very highly in a game and Morrowind had plenty of it. I'm glad I didn't pass it up, the elder scrolls mean so much more to me because of it. Skyrim is magnificent and I'm glad they added remastered music from Morrowind. Really brings back fond memories of that title.
The one thing that always annoyed me about this game was the way your character leveled up. Keeping track of all the stat-ups per level really takes you out of the immersion. The same thing goes for oblivion. Both games can be modded, but the xbox people are basically screwed here. In a nutshell, it's actually better to pick skills that you can control the leveling of, which often means the skills you aren't using. Pretty lame.
@gearlockT True, though I find it sad that they removed a lot of my favorite things about morrowind from oblivion and skyrim. I'm currently taking turns between playing skyrim and morrowind, and while I'm really enjoying skyrim, I'm enjoying morrowind slightly more overall.
@ZombieGamer009 thanks! I still have many quests to do in this game, I finished the main quest only. I suggest if you can find the time just focus on main quest before skyrim.
@gearlockT I had played Fallout 3, New Vegas and Oblivion and liked them so I got morrowind GOTY this weekend on steam (i played it in 2002 but I was 10 and it was too "hard" for me) and ill probably play it for a long time. Your guide was realy helpful for me because the game kind of just throws you out into this huge world with little to no knowledge of what to do and where to go. I looked on UESP.net for tips but i like video guides better. =D
@ZombieGamer009 Glad it helped you out, I found Morrowind hard to play at first and gave up on it. After reading so many reviews of how awesome it was I had to try it again and once I figured stuff out I started to really enjoy it. I also enjoyed fallout 3 new vegas and oblivion, all really great games! I can't wait for Skyrim!!! It's gonna be amazing!!
Another way to steal the sword is to position yourself so that the pillar in the room is between you and the guard. You can use stealth to check if he can see you or not. If he can't see you, jump and grab the sword. Also, always remember to SAVE before attempting... I sometimes get a little carried away and loose valued progress...
Wonderful beginners tips btw. They were very useful.
also idk about this game im trying to play it but ist very confusing idk how to make potions, regenerate my magic when im out in the middle or no where and ect... and the combat system sucks keep dying from stupid creature cus i cant hit em...
@StixIsLost Yeah It's tough at the beginning but when you level up higher you will not have any problems. You need to get just random ingredients and make as many potions you can to raise your alchemy skill, as for regenerating magic check out 12:05 . You need to make sure your fatigue is not too low or you will miss when attacking often. Try using spells at the beginning they hit the enemy more and do more damage. Work up your weapon skills as you go.
@doolyboy999 You can choose whatever you want, just my personal choice. You absorb magic most of the time and can replenish your magic other ways so it's no big d.
@WatchOutBR Funny, I was just replying to a comment on a video about that mod. I have just watched a vid of it but don't have a comp powerful enough to run it. It looks and sounds utterly amazing. I wanted to play the game through without any mods and I just finished it so I'll be playing through again now with whatever mods I can run.
How about a walkthrough series? The quality of some morrowind walkthroughs need a refresher. Which factions did you think was a good choice? Telvanni? Redoran? Hlaalu? Did you find the Dark Brotherhood? I could never find it. I only see the Rumors.
@Catz1985 Yeah I could do a walkthrough. I haven't gotten too far in the game, been doing mage's guild quests and currently a Conjurer. As for the house factions I'm not really into Telvanni, they seem too stuck up. Hlaalu are a bunch of shysters. Redoran seems pretty cool and respectable so I'll probably join them. The Dark Brotherhood is accessible with the tribunal expansion which I have so I might join them. I love this game, Oblivion blew my mind but Morrowind kicks it's ass.
@GTXMAN yeah, I was turned off when I first started playing Morrowind. Thankfully I got back into it and figured out how to play properly. Try it out again dude, I hated it at first and now I love this game.

@gearlockT is there any real point in choosing breton for the magic resistance if you're just going to absorb it all anyway?
SmurfOntheRocks 2 months ago
@SmurfOntheRocks actually you only absorb 50% of the spells fired at you I think, because there was plenty of times I would get hurt by spells.
gearlockT 2 months ago
@gearlockT ohhhh so with the 50% resistance you take less damage but still absorb the same,
thanks for this video btw it really helped me get started for this game I was so lost at the beginning now I'm addicted lol
