  • Wow! Thanks! I just learned it from a Ray Steven's recording because I thought it was funny.

  • thats take from the dubliners the irish band

  • You are probably right. I learned it from a Ray Stevens CD, though.

  • I think you will actually find the original was done by Noel Murphy, as I say tho....I think

  • Die spielberg ireland rocks

  • Good for you man!! One of the best versions I have heard of this old Irish song

  • its spielburg

  • hey again it just came to me after i wrote my last comment its called the sick note by the dubliners and its about a man named paddy

good job though its nice to hear others singing their versions

  • nice one but the origional in the irish accent i think is better i love this song nice job

funny all my family were watching ur realli gud hehe from ellie x

  • This song is called Murphy and the Bricks and was sung by Blaster Bates many years ago.

    Ken

  • the song was originally by a irish band called the dubliners and its called paddy's sick note not murphys barrel

  • Thanks. I really have no idea what the real name is. Read the comments that have been left on here. Several others claim to know the real name as well. I'm just doing this YouTube stuff for fun though, so I'll let y'all hash it out as to what the true name is.

  • it's known as Paddy's Sick Note and by the Dubliners but it's also got many alternatives and "Murphy and The Barrel" and "Murphy's Bricks" is one since the person who covered it was/is named Murphy, so in a way, mrgreer51 is correct. =)

  • no offence its a good cover but i think it sounds better with the irish version ( i am part irish ^^) seccond name callaghan

  • I agree, but I like the song so much that I did it anyway.

  • haha i agree it gives you a laugh when you ned one

  • you still did a great version well done top notch i like some of your other videos to.

  • is this song not called the sick note check out ronnie drews version he does it with out music its class

  • You're probably right. I got it from a radio show that I had recorded, but they didn't say the name. And you're right: Ronnie Drew's version is the real deal. He has the true accent needed for this song.

  • Great rendition of the song!

    *faved*

  • nice clock

  • This is the greatest thing I've heard all day

  • this guy did an awesome job covering this song, and he seems to be such a happy person XD

  • stupid yanks

  • So wot, still he did a great job covering that song... its better for music from a place to be liked in other places...

  • i love this song

we used to sing it in primary school :D

  • I do love the song and your version is the first one that goes along with my voice, great.

  • Nice rendition. Well done. Another good version is by Andy Oakley on the Video In Tune With Laughter.

  • Ray Stevens does an EXCELLENT version of this!

  • Try the original, look for Noel Murphy - Murphys Bricks.

  • How 'bout that! I had no idea who did song this originally. Thanks for posting the original. And for those of you who have never heard the original, click on coniff44, above, and give it a listen.

  • YES! I've been looking for this song for sooooooo long and I just came by this by chance, god I hear this song when I was 9 and I'm 18 now, for the entire time I've been looking, YES YES YEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEES.

    Also nice rendition.

    YEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEES.

  • The song has been around a long time, but I learned it from a Ray Stevens recording.

  • This is an amusing song. I didn't know it was a song too. I first heard a spoken version on a novelty program on WCLV back when I was a kid.

  • @erra404

Yeah - the original recitation was done by Gerard Hoffnung. And it's a lot funnier than this song!

  • i'm the first... great song!!
