Umm the wash out rate is higher than the SEALS because the Navy and the other branches wash them out before hand. Also this is nothing compared to other branches special ops training or evaluation.
Yeah, I spoke with a Combat Rescue Officer (Officer counterpart of a Pararescueman) who was 1 of 7 graduates out of a class of 80. That's an 8.75% pass rate for his class. These guys are amazing!
To all those people talking about SEALS have a better track record. Have you ever heard of a PJ misssion failing? They only fail when the person they tried to rescue dies. That can't be helped. You don't save that many people in most hospitals let alone in a dirty field
All the other spec op branches always say how they could be Navy SEALs, but Navy SEALs never talk about how they could have been any other branch of special warfare.. what does that tell you
@gto088 Have you ever actually heard another special operation personel say that they could compare to the SEALS? PJs are the best because all they do is save people
They're all brave and heroes, putting their lives on the line all the time to get the job done. SEALs, SAS, PJ's, Green Beret, Delta and all other special forces around the world...all do the things that some would say is impossible or crazy. All I'll say is THANK YOU to every man and woman who do it and done it day in and day out to fight and protect what they believe in. When it all comes down to it, it's not about who trained harder than who, it's about family and the person next to you.
the SAS can eat my asshole...tired of ppl comin on every SEAL and other american spec op video talking about those smelly brits...go fuck yourselves..'mate'
Douches quit saying PJ's are better... All I see is Seals have a better mission success rate and Seals training is rated the toughest in the world.. NUFF!!!!!!!
@ssDaNss By whom? The Special Operations Toughness Board? Where did you hear that they have a higher mission success rate???? SEALs are glorified a little too much. You think just because you see more movies about the SEALs they're better? Come on man. By the way, when SEALs get in a shit-storm, or take a casualty, guess who comes when they call 911? Yeah, "NUFF"
@ssDaNss I feel bad having to be the one to break it to you... Force Recon goes thru the exact same thing the Seals do and more, Delta force and Pararescue has the lowest percent graduate/accepted. Pararescue jumper has an average of 15% pass and Delta force has an acceptence rate of 5-20 out of a 160-300 group of the best of the best of the best. Now if ur saying the world then that award will have to go to either the SAS (british) or the secret unit higher then Delta (which is not CIA)
NIGGA I DOUGHT GIVE A FUCK PJS ARE GAY end of line never even heard of them until they premeired on the discovery channel bad training i saw, but my bad we all operate in different areas for a reason OORAH ONLY BRANCH I DESPISE IS THE ARMY SUCK MY COCK ARMY DOGS HOOAH

Im not sure if anyone realizes this or not, but a pj is like a seal, ranger, and green beret all rolled into one. If a plane goes down behind enemy lines, the pjs are on a chopper and on their way instantly, they go anywhere that a plane goes down. The desert, sea, arctics, anywhere. They have actual arctic gear. They are the elite. Rucksacks on filled with rocks and shit 15 and 16 hours a day. are you kidding me? They are ridiculous.
@snakesinmypants PJs and Combat Controllers ARE Special Ops. Their units fall under USAF Special Operations Command (AFSOC), which in turn is under US Special Operations Command (SOCOM). You're confusing the proper name "Special Operations", for Army "Special Forces" which is under USASOC.

@clearcreekdiver the past isnt that hard just make sure you can swim and run if you want to practice do this swim the underwater swims first with a 2 min break between then do your 500 m then give a ten min break and run that 1.5mile

Since JSOC formed after black hawk down, they have combined PJ's CCT's SEAL's and some times the Dreaded D. So They are the standing medics for joint ops teams. i dnt wanna rip on the navy seals cuz they are so bad ass. but i mean 90% of these guys dont even make it through the training, its gotta be the real deal lol. u pretty much have to be a hero to do this lol
@UnicornHead have you seen PJ's in action your self? have you seen SEAL's in action also? have you witnessed them both on simliar operations to make a formed decision to really say that?
@UnicornHead yaa my frieds dad was a seal and then joined PJs and thought that it was harder,he worked his way thru and was cheif of PJs, thay have BETTER training
@UnicornHead better yet,i dont think people know that seals are almost as capable as pararescue except for the ability to render exemplary battlefield medical care. this is the sole province of the Air Force P.J. .were it not for hollywood, most wouldnt know of the seals.its also why most know nothing of P.J.s.
@UnicornHead theyre like two different specialties.
pararescue will not run deep recon and such like seals will and seals are not as medically trained as PJs. thats why SpecOps has so little inter-service rivarly. they all work in conjuction with eachother, not against.
6 spelling/grammar errors in what i just typed lol
You'd be surprised how many SEALs and other special forces wind up joining the PJs. There's Hell Week.....then there's PJs Hell Week which is 10 weeks long.
@javabaja Well I hope they didn't water it down since I was in the Air Force (not PJ, unfortunately). It's kind of ironic that Discovery said that. They're contradicting themselves from their DVD, "Pararescuemen: That Others May Live". Another good source would be SpecialTacticscom. They are saying 8 weeks. The owner of that site is a current or former PJ.
@javabaja It's easy, but then again, that was in 1982! I have no idea what it's like now, but I'm sure it's still a lot easier than the other branches. When you're in basic the PJs try to recruit you but I wasn't stupid. I knew I couldn't do all the push ups and sit-ups they required. Too bad. I really want to be a PJ. Funny thing is I became an AF firefighter and we got a lot of wash outs from PJ school. They told them the next best thing was the fire department. LOL.
@souzanian No, Pararescue doesn't match the Navy SEALs in combat. That's why you will often see Pararescue with other infantry or SOF units. For example, during the rescue of Jessica Lynch in Iraq, Navy SEALs led the raid, followed by the 75th Ranger Regiment, then the PJs who provided the medical assistance. If you look at the pipeline for the PJs, only 1 part of the PARARESCUE Recovery Specialist Course involves combat tactics, while the SEALs spend practically all of their time on combat.
@Tree0rnament Oh yeah, I forget that once they pass the intial school they completly stop training. Navy SEALS may have lead the way, but PJS were right behind. Learn some actually tales of what goes on and you'll realize that PJs don't get a lot of fame but that does not make them any less lethal. But thier goal is not to attack the enemy. Thier goal is to recover and rescue people in the most dangerous situations
@UnicornHead I am so proud of all US armed forces they are the best well equiped battle tested armed forces in the world.HOYAHHH They are the peace keeper of the world.
@UnicornHead No they aren't. Not even in the same ballpark. All special forces try to be Seals. They are the elite of all the branches. That fact in no way takes anything away from what the pararescuers do. They are elite in their own right. But they are not like the Seals. Personally, I am partial to Rangers, but that's just 'cuz I am an Army vet. I am also retired Coast Guard, which doesn't have any "special forces", but we do have lots of "rescuers".
@KsAdventures Coast Guard "rescuers" are nothing like a real military branch's spec ops. And no. SEALS are the most elit. Delta force is hands down. You can tell how elit a unit is by how many people they deploy with. Delta, One or 2. PJs, 1 or 2. And rangers are not really spec ops. Just extra light paratroopers. God bless them, but there is a reason they come in larger numbers
@UnicornHead as are MarSOC marines... cause to be eligible you have to pass bootcamp, school of infantry and then the training of your MOS, for me is 0321 which is reconnaissance, which is 3 months long... then you have to do a deployment, and then TRY for MarSOC... whis is A&S and ITC... 7 month initial training plus the specilized that you want (7 month more...sniper, CQB, breaching...etc)
What do you think?
Every SF of the military is f**** awesome... TV and news have a lot of influence
@UnicornHead I was talking to an retired Navy Seal the other day and he told me that he believes that Air Force Pararescue Jumpers are more hardcore than Seals are
GENERALZAPATA i got c's and d's through highschool and i got a 94 on the asvab, most anyone can pass. God damn i want to be one of those hard ass mother fucking pj's, fuck you colorblindness, fuck you in you're ass.
@Ericrw42 All that shows you is you didn't try in school. 94 is an awesome score. You could have made A's if you tried. Im kind of the same way. In high school I was worried with sports and didn't focus on school and made mostly C's. But in college I am making Mostly A's some B's and very few C's. Its all about the try hard.
@Ericrw42 ya i almost got disqualified for depth perception luckily you dont need it for pararescue.. i didnt know my depth perception was even fucked up lol. ( anyone can pass the asvab) unless your realy dumb.. i saw a girl when i went who failed.. she only had to make a 30.. < i got a 84 and made b/c's
@Ericrw42 i dont know if you already had basic training yet, but you do realize that once you serve at least four years, you are allowed to request for pararescue training when you get your contract extended for another four or sixteen years. you still have to go thru the screening and physical conditioning phase, which includes another color-blind test, before you "try-out" for pararescue
Dude you better start peeling off that muscle. Trust me, you don't want all that extra muscle. You will sink like a rock during water training.
Start converting your workouts from kinesthetics to cardio. You won't want to carry around all that muscle during indoc. You will be doing a lot of ruck runs, a lot of swimming, and you want to have good build, and not be stocky.
@967527 actually to qualify you must take the PAST test. you must swim underwater for 20 meters twice with rest in between without breaking the surface. 500 meters freestyle without stopping, then run 1.5 miles then at least 8 pull ups and some pushups and like 45 or so situps. this is all consecutive
lol.. i suck at math. you have to get at least a 43 i think for pararescue on the asvab. you should be fine. i retook algebra 1 twice in highschool lol.
I think it's funny how many people must sign up for this as a challenge and don't realize what they're asking to become. You see people dropping out in these videos that obviously don't have plenty of pool time and swimming experience under their belt, they are going to save lives and it's great that only the few strongest make it because they are surely the ones who realize what they're signing up for.
Not any more. There is Extended Training Day which is equivalent to a Hell night. It's about 36-40 hours straight. Studies showed that a hell week was too detrimental by causing too many injuries due to fatigue and exhaustion.
I'm saying you don't need a week to figure out who is a quitter and who will stick it out. There is a fine line between productive training and training for the hell of it. By the time a few days pass, you are on autopilot and not able to function where you should.
If you make it through indoc which is 2 weeks of hell, Swimming, physical training and team building stuff. Alot of people just opt out its a big big mental test as well as physical. They basically want to weed out the mentally week people in the first 2 weeks.
I really want to become a Pj. I'm 18 years old and just graduated high school. I'm 5'9 200 lbs and the max weight for 5'9 is 186 lbs. Does anyone know if thet check your body fat ratio?
yea theyl check body fat but theyre just gonna tell you to lose the weight, its only 14 lbs. well actually 19, ur supposed to be 5lbs under weight wen u leave for bmt
Latta Cardio in PJ indoc my friend. I've been training for triatholans and boxing comps become a pararescueman, a I have gone from 5'10 180 to 160, and Im still trying to lose some more weight. Losing that much bulk has made running, swimming, and biking infinately smoother. For the sake of success Id try to cut down some weight just because its gunna be a bitch having to carry 200 lbs at 5'9 for 6 miles at 4:15 am. Anyway to answer your question, I beleive they just take your BMI. Never Quit.
Because I know a Pararescue Jumper and a Combat Controller. Because of the extra situations Pararescue Jumpers are trained to handle makes their training tougher. Although Combat Controllers have the most fun and have a higher chance of fighting first. To that I'm jealous of them lol
PJ not doubt.. they are the toughest form of warrior in the entire military. Im a crew cheif for the cv-22 and im training myself these next 4 years to become a PJ.
Funny, I made this video and dont remember posting it via Masterofbaters. Who are you? I am just curious. I just posted it on my site and noticed you already put it up.

aspensheehan 1 year ago
@aspensheehan do PJs have the same fighting capacities as a SEAl?
frankrojas09 1 year ago
@UnicornHead Do the AF special ops have any type of martial art or any training on fighting as the seals do?
frankrojas09 1 year ago
@UnicornHead
Yea..... ...i dont think so
tbone81395 1 year ago
@UnicornHead better yet,i dont think people know that seals are almost as capable as pararescue except for the ability to render exemplary battlefield medical care. this is the sole province of the Air Force P.J. .were it not for hollywood, most wouldnt know of the seals.its also why most know nothing of P.J.s.
colors1387 1 year ago
@UnicornHead More capable actually, they have a higher level of certification than seals.
aleksandrhall 1 year ago
@UnicornHead along with cct
herosquad 1 year ago
@UnicornHead theyre like two different specialties.
pararescue will not run deep recon and such like seals will and seals are not as medically trained as PJs. thats why SpecOps has so little inter-service rivarly. they all work in conjuction with eachother, not against.
6 spelling/grammar errors in what i just typed lol
xaugstbrnsredx 1 year ago
The mission is completetly different SEALs are direct combat.
goldlionTWO 1 year ago 3
@UnicornHead evwn more so! their training is longer and more intense than SEAL training.
ehopkins12 1 year ago
@UnicornHead maybe even more because they are trained to operate with every SOF in the US armed forces
FreeRideAddikt 1 year ago
@UnicornHead
You'd be surprised how many SEALs and other special forces wind up joining the PJs. There's Hell Week.....then there's PJs Hell Week which is 10 weeks long.
Frach438 1 year ago
@Frach438 According to the discovery channel its 5 days, hombre. But they've been known for getting shit wrong. I mean damn... look at them now lol.
javabaja 1 year ago
@javabaja Well I hope they didn't water it down since I was in the Air Force (not PJ, unfortunately). It's kind of ironic that Discovery said that. They're contradicting themselves from their DVD, "Pararescuemen: That Others May Live". Another good source would be SpecialTacticscom. They are saying 8 weeks. The owner of that site is a current or former PJ.
Frach438 1 year ago
@Frach438 Facts get mixed up sometimes, I wouldn't be surprised if they messed it up. Hows basic training for the AF?
javabaja 1 year ago
@javabaja It's easy, but then again, that was in 1982! I have no idea what it's like now, but I'm sure it's still a lot easier than the other branches. When you're in basic the PJs try to recruit you but I wasn't stupid. I knew I couldn't do all the push ups and sit-ups they required. Too bad. I really want to be a PJ. Funny thing is I became an AF firefighter and we got a lot of wash outs from PJ school. They told them the next best thing was the fire department. LOL.
Frach438 1 year ago
@UnicornHead If anything, more capable!, they match them in combat, now add the fact that they are highly-trained medics as well.
souzanian 1 year ago
@souzanian No, Pararescue doesn't match the Navy SEALs in combat. That's why you will often see Pararescue with other infantry or SOF units. For example, during the rescue of Jessica Lynch in Iraq, Navy SEALs led the raid, followed by the 75th Ranger Regiment, then the PJs who provided the medical assistance. If you look at the pipeline for the PJs, only 1 part of the PARARESCUE Recovery Specialist Course involves combat tactics, while the SEALs spend practically all of their time on combat.
Tree0rnament 1 year ago
@Tree0rnament You know who spends more time in combat than SEALs? Rangers.
mikeyadigone 1 year ago
@Tree0rnament Oh yeah, I forget that once they pass the intial school they completly stop training. Navy SEALS may have lead the way, but PJS were right behind. Learn some actually tales of what goes on and you'll realize that PJs don't get a lot of fame but that does not make them any less lethal. But thier goal is not to attack the enemy. Thier goal is to recover and rescue people in the most dangerous situations

@UnicornHead Better, they can also do basic surgery in small spaces, and anything and everything EMT's can do.

capable at doing what?
they are 2 completely different SOF's
dumbass
tbone81395 1 year ago
@UnicornHead Incorrect. They are both the best at what they do, but they wouldn't be able to perform the others job with the same quality.
Tree0rnament 1 year ago
@UnicornHead my brother is a PJ and my cousins a SEAL goes without saying that they argue about this subject more than once lol....
poplpopl12345 1 year ago
@UnicornHead No they aren't. Not even in the same ballpark. All special forces try to be Seals. They are the elite of all the branches. That fact in no way takes anything away from what the pararescuers do. They are elite in their own right. But they are not like the Seals. Personally, I am partial to Rangers, but that's just 'cuz I am an Army vet. I am also retired Coast Guard, which doesn't have any "special forces", but we do have lots of "rescuers".
KsAdventures 1 year ago
@KsAdventures Coast Guard "rescuers" are nothing like a real military branch's spec ops. And no. SEALS are the most elit. Delta force is hands down. You can tell how elit a unit is by how many people they deploy with. Delta, One or 2. PJs, 1 or 2. And rangers are not really spec ops. Just extra light paratroopers. God bless them, but there is a reason they come in larger numbers
Belland621 1 year ago
@UnicornHead they have 10% bigger washout rate.
sniperRobert 1 year ago
@UnicornHead as are MarSOC marines... cause to be eligible you have to pass bootcamp, school of infantry and then the training of your MOS, for me is 0321 which is reconnaissance, which is 3 months long... then you have to do a deployment, and then TRY for MarSOC... whis is A&S and ITC... 7 month initial training plus the specilized that you want (7 month more...sniper, CQB, breaching...etc)
What do you think?
Every SF of the military is f**** awesome... TV and news have a lot of influence

Ericrw42 2 years ago 26
@Ericrw42 I doubt you even got to take the ASVAB.
FUUPTHEA 1 year ago
@Ericrw42 All that shows you is you didn't try in school. 94 is an awesome score. You could have made A's if you tried. Im kind of the same way. In high school I was worried with sports and didn't focus on school and made mostly C's. But in college I am making Mostly A's some B's and very few C's. Its all about the try hard.
AirForceBullDAWG 1 year ago
@Ericrw42 ya i almost got disqualified for depth perception luckily you dont need it for pararescue.. i didnt know my depth perception was even fucked up lol. ( anyone can pass the asvab) unless your realy dumb.. i saw a girl when i went who failed.. she only had to make a 30.. < i got a 84 and made b/c's
gravew0lf 1 year ago
@Ericrw42 Im sorry man, being colorblind. I was going to be a PJ too... Then I wasn't able to see green.
Laudividni777 1 year ago
@Ericrw42 i dont know if you already had basic training yet, but you do realize that once you serve at least four years, you are allowed to request for pararescue training when you get your contract extended for another four or sixteen years. you still have to go thru the screening and physical conditioning phase, which includes another color-blind test, before you "try-out" for pararescue

Holy Crap! I have to lose a lot of muscle to look like these guys! lmao! Im built stocky and my CCT recruiter told me to just do cardio from now on.
smudz1987 2 years ago
@smudz1987
Dude you better start peeling off that muscle. Trust me, you don't want all that extra muscle. You will sink like a rock during water training.
Start converting your workouts from kinesthetics to cardio. You won't want to carry around all that muscle during indoc. You will be doing a lot of ruck runs, a lot of swimming, and you want to have good build, and not be stocky.

yes you will do it during basic in the first couple of days. Wash out rate is around 90%.
keithrybicki 2 years ago
@967527 actually to qualify you must take the PAST test. you must swim underwater for 20 meters twice with rest in between without breaking the surface. 500 meters freestyle without stopping, then run 1.5 miles then at least 8 pull ups and some pushups and like 45 or so situps. this is all consecutive
rayman5839 2 years ago

IPosidenI 2 years ago
you need to swim 500 meters becoming pararescueman for airforce
awsomeness20 2 years ago
What about SEALs?
IPosidenI 2 years ago
lol thats the PAST. You swim miles in Indoc, most underwater
jayguerreso 2 years ago
I think it's funny how many people must sign up for this as a challenge and don't realize what they're asking to become. You see people dropping out in these videos that obviously don't have plenty of pool time and swimming experience under their belt, they are going to save lives and it's great that only the few strongest make it because they are surely the ones who realize what they're signing up for.
Slidingby 2 years ago
So the pipeline doesn't count as your 4 years in the airfore?
BloodBrotherVideos 2 years ago
Not any more. There is Extended Training Day which is equivalent to a Hell night. It's about 36-40 hours straight. Studies showed that a hell week was too detrimental by causing too many injuries due to fatigue and exhaustion.
wishyouwereapj 2 years ago
so are you saying that hellweek is a bad idea?
knpdyeballarice 2 years ago
I'm saying you don't need a week to figure out who is a quitter and who will stick it out. There is a fine line between productive training and training for the hell of it. By the time a few days pass, you are on autopilot and not able to function where you should.
wishyouwereapj 2 years ago
do the PJ's have a hell week like the seals?
knpdyeballarice 2 years ago
No but it has the highest failout rate in the military.
msiordie44 2 years ago
thats one thing I have yet to ask my recruiter. exactly what do they "fail" on... if you know. do they do roll backs?
knpdyeballarice 2 years ago
If you make it through indoc which is 2 weeks of hell, Swimming, physical training and team building stuff. Alot of people just opt out its a big big mental test as well as physical. They basically want to weed out the mentally week people in the first 2 weeks.
msiordie44 2 years ago
oh alright. so who ever is left from the first 2 weeks, 90% of those people will fail out?
knpdyeballarice 2 years ago
Indoc is 10 weeks, not 2.
wishyouwereapj 2 years ago
Indoc is 10 weeks.

I really want to become a Pj. I'm 18 years old and just graduated high school. I'm 5'9 200 lbs and the max weight for 5'9 is 186 lbs. Does anyone know if thet check your body fat ratio?
SnOwJuNkIe1011 2 years ago
yea theyl check body fat but theyre just gonna tell you to lose the weight, its only 14 lbs. well actually 19, ur supposed to be 5lbs under weight wen u leave for bmt
elGringoNumeroUno 2 years ago
you can lose as much weight as you want, but if you also can't do the run or swim at a competitive time, your chances are much much lower
pwningn00bs 2 years ago
Latta Cardio in PJ indoc my friend. I've been training for triatholans and boxing comps become a pararescueman, a I have gone from 5'10 180 to 160, and Im still trying to lose some more weight. Losing that much bulk has made running, swimming, and biking infinately smoother. For the sake of success Id try to cut down some weight just because its gunna be a bitch having to carry 200 lbs at 5'9 for 6 miles at 4:15 am. Anyway to answer your question, I beleive they just take your BMI. Never Quit.
jayguerreso 2 years ago
They will check your body fat. At 5 9 you should weigh at least 160lbs.

PJ indoc
MasterOfPuppetz17 2 years ago
you know this how?
PhoenixRacer7 2 years ago
Because I know a Pararescue Jumper and a Combat Controller. Because of the extra situations Pararescue Jumpers are trained to handle makes their training tougher. Although Combat Controllers have the most fun and have a higher chance of fighting first. To that I'm jealous of them lol

One is 2 weeks long, and the other is 9.5 weeks long. What do you think?
