Being an illegal collar in Wales and slowly becoming one in the rest of the UK I would have to say No! And there's a reason for it - reward training is so far more progressive and promising in a way of future advancement... But I guess this is what they do in the States, right? Like so many TV shows, you start with a dog paying attention and wanting to learn, and end up with a lost and confused dog trying to walk away and not being able to...
lol it's funny how he's supposed to be such an amazing trainer and all he's doing is confusing the dog and pushing the dog into an avoidance state. Well done!
I was highly reccomended to Vladae as a dog trainer He explained how the prong collar works and how gentle it really is .I saw after a few lessons that with a slight motion the dog understood the commands and was perfectly fine You cant knock what you havent tried When used properly its a wonderful collar ad learning tool.
Take it from an expert. and Vladae is one . My dog was adopted 3 mos ago and is a great dog
I've actually used it on myself before I used it on my dog and felt no discomfort. Because regular buckle collars constantly hit the neck they are more unsafe than prong collars. That being said, any type of leash and collar have the potential to be improperly used thus being dangerous. Just because a trainer has had very positive feedback and results with a prong collar certainly does not necessitate scrutiny -- especially in the form of smear and slander.
Oh my, Vladae used a stern voice and pulled on the leash!
Trust me, my dogs trained with the prong collar and stern voice. Dogs are happy and were not in pain.
The other day I was across the street talking to a neighbor. Daughter accidently let dogs out, and they charged the street right when a car was driving by. Thank goodness I trained under Vladae and learned the emergency stop command! Dogs immediately halted and sat down.
My dogs are alive because of Vladae's training techniques.
In the time that it took him to put the collar on, I could have taught the dog to sit. In the time it took him provoking the dog, and then stopping it (confusing the dog all the while), I could have had the dogs butt glued to the floor and not jumping at all. Repeat the same thing a few times until the dog greets properly.
Could train a loose leash much better to. No need for a silly contraption around the dogs neck, no need for pain and my dogs are much happier.
Vladae is a well respected trainer and has done an amazing job with my two german shepherd pups. This collar is so friendly and does not harm or choke my dogs. Its as as friendly as when the momma dog nips her pups to behave...maybe even more humane. With Vladae's training, I am able to take my well behaved pups out and spend more enjoyable time with them and the other dogs. Thank you Vladae!!!
My 2 dogs are very loved, babied, fed the best food and trained without any 'cruel' or 'painful' treatment I might add they're VERY happy and loving dogs. Some of the comments re this video are so far over the top I wonder who these people are that make such negative statements about such an excellent dog trainer. If I hadn't had Vladae train my dogs and do such a beautiful job with them I wouldn't make this comment....but I know his work first hand and he's simply a miracle worker.
I've been reading the comments...seems many of you don't realize that there are no sharp points on this collar...Vladae introduced me to a hard rubber version of this for my small dogs .. it doesn't hurt them and works like a charm. My vet told me about Vladae and thinks he's terrific ! My 2 small dogs love him. Vladae is simply an outstanding trainer ! My neighbor has also used Vladae to train her small dog. We couldn't be happier........Vladae is truly a Wizard !
How on earth can anyone view a person asking a dog to do something, then causing them pain and confusion for doing so, and say this is good ?? That is not "provoking" the behavior, that's asking the dog to do the thing you then punish. So wrong and inhumane. And WHY do people think the alternative is "training with nothing but a bunch of treats" ?? Behavior that is reinforced gets stronger, pure and simple. Oh, and I have a Service dog and Therapy dog, too- trained without pain!
With the correct training and using the collar PROPERLY, it does not hurt the dog. The collar is not sharp in any way. Vladae had my dog trained within minutes, not months and my dog is a very happy, spoiled pup. I cringed when I see dogs with choke collars on. Now those are harming the dog!
@LILZEUS If it doesn't hurt at all, then why do you think it works?? What's the point of the prongs? I know they are not sharp, but the links pinch the skin as they close. Yes, chokes are harmful physically, but both are harmful psychologically.
Well I have one of these Herm Sprenger collars and LOVE it. I was showed years ago by Vladae how to use a prong collar which DOES NOT cause pain to the dog. It gets there attention. I don't have month after month for training my dog with nothing but a bunch of treats. I even use a prong collar on my rescue Greyhound. I went through 3 other trainers before finding Vladae who could help me just have wonderful fun loving dogs. They even tested years later for therpy dogs an passed. He's AWESOME
"Look at my left hand and see how I pull on the leash and therefor harm the dog without giving him the slightest chance to react to my command I'm giving him AFTER pulling."
Way to go, wizard. What a bullshit. Now there're thousands of dog owners who using this collar (wrong) and thinking all they need is this stupid collar and they can control their dog instead of building a healthy relationship.
This is so 1970's. Vladae, we American dog trainers (and most of the rest of the world) have moved past prong collars to training methods that actually TEACH rather than shutting down behavior. A prong can prevent jumping/pulling, but often leads to inter-dog aggression (dogs associate the appearance of other dogs with pain). My clicker trained dogs have been on TV in 5 countries. They do nearly 100 tricks each, have perfect manners, and are trained totally off-leash with no pain. Try it!
All dogs can be trained with harmless, positive reinforcement methods. So why is it necessary to train with pain, annoyance, and fear? Here's an extremely simple tactic for teaching dogs not to jump, TURN AROUND. It doesn't involve special collars, it doesn't involve your money and best of all it doesn't create an aggressive or dominant relationship between owner and dog.
Vladae saved my pit mix from euthanasia. He had severe dog aggression. I used Herm Sprenger collar PROPERLY along with Vladae's techniques and my dog is completely cured. Any collar can be dangerous if used improperly..even buckle collars. I have used this collar properly on both my dogs for over 10 years. THEY HAVE NO SYMPTOMS OF NECK PAIN OR DAMAGE. This collar does not hurt the dog when used properly on the right dog.Vladae is AMAZING and he gets results in minutes not months!

This is the worst trainer I ever saw! This video should be called "All the things you should never do when training a dog!"

Well, I can do the same thing without hurting the dogs sensitive neck. You know you're risking having a dog with neck pains the rest of his life.
