They may be young but there both scared. Or maybe they just need to get used to it.

Rats being able to swim was the reason i got them.

  • @CatMaster87932 Then where else? I can't afford to go miles and miles to an rescuers.

  • Aw, cute! They look like one of my boys. :) I don't bath my ratties (they don't smell, they clean themselves aaaall the time), but I let em play in the water because they like it so much. I think I'm really lucky with my guys... most rats seem to hate water.

  • One of your Boy rats looks like one of my Girl rats. (So cute)

  • do u dry them after a bath or let them get on with it. if u dry them how do u do it?

  • You dry them off with a towel, be sure to hold them close, they LOVe being dryed off

  • to dry them u put them in a towel and kinda rub it on them

  • my rats HATE when i give them baths.. i have scars to prove it... hey i recently posted some videos of my rats and would appreciate any1 who watches them.

    thanks!

  • How do you get them so calm! mine claw up my arms!

  • My rats hate water. But I still give them baths. My hairless rat needs baths frequently.

  • (Part two)

"small animal" shampoo designed for bunnies, guinea pigs, rats, mice, hamsters etc is the best option. If you cant find that - you can use the shampoos that are designed for puppies and kittens - as they are a lot more dialuted than the adult dog/cat shampoo. the main thing though - is to NEVER use human grade shampoo on them - its too powerful for their skin.

Bath them in the human bath. have the water very shallow- only enough to cover them halfway when they are standing up.

  • Could u give me some info on how to bathe them like water tempreture, soap, shampoo and where to do it like sink,or tub? thanks!

  • Sure thing!

    (Part 1)

    Water temp:

-luke warm water is perfectly fine. dont have it too hot, because they have higher body temperatures than us - and also dont have it stone cold, or you'll risk them getting sick.

Soap: dont use any human soap on them.

  • @tazz101012

u Should never bath your rats!

  • i have 2 rats and they love to take a bath

    rats 4 ever !!! <33

  • WOW! thats wat my rats look like ^.^

  • aw they are precious babies:)

  • what temperature do you think rattys prefer?

  • luke warm water is fine. dont make it too hot, or too cold, as they chill easily. :)

  • It's crazy how they just stay there...i bath mine in the sink..so far on sits there and lets me bath it but my other baby still makes every attempt to get out. I cant wait until they relax in the bath.

  • Tee-hee, yes, my boys Tate and Tal were quite calm in the bath. I no longer have them anymore, sadly. It helps if you fill the bath up high enough to let them sit upright and swim without drowning. once they realise that they arent going to drown, they settle down quickly.

I have 4 female rats now - and they are all hyper active in the bath, and prefer to run around on the bench and clean themselves! :P

  • omg my rat looks exzactly like this :)

  • That's so cute! ^^) How do you get them to stay so calm in the tub? When I put my rats in the bath they jumped out as if they'd been bitten.
