Traviata - Ms. Netrebko displayed ample power, coloratura bravura with a marvelous tone Having recently heard Natalie Dessay sing Sempre Libera at the Met Gala, one was impressed by the legato nature of Netrebko's portray in contrast to Dessay's intentional staccato, fragmented phrasing interpretation. Having also seen photos of Fleming in her current Violetta at the ROH, one can only marvel at Netrebko's resilience, endurance and commitment to bel canto opera.

Some people here are obsessed with immature stupid rigid rules and ridiculous nitpicking. Since Anna is so famous they have occupied Netrebko's pages with their hateful insulting comments. Thus this forum has became a place for malicious bashing of a great talent. I find Anna's interpretations and her approach to singing to be very refined and amazingly beautiful. People who impose stupid rigid rules rob themselves of her great art.
Anna's traviata San Fr - "From the opening scene dressed in a white sequined gown, followed by a black evening dress at the gambling parlor to her final dying scene in negligee, she epitomized elegance, grace, and astonishing beauty. Her voice has become fuller with ample power in all octaves. She has incredible dynamic range from a poignant whisper to full exclamatory willpower, with joy and angst. At times, she had to hold back somewhat so as not to over sing Alfredo."
I believe due credit is owed to the Orchestra alone. The conductor has not only a fabulous and innovative mental capactiy but a brisk and warm orchestra infront of him. Pravo maestro and your musicians!
For all self appointed critics here is what real critics have to say: singing as sweetly as a bell struck with a surprising outburst of coloratura, Anna is at the tipping point of serious diva fame ..She has that bel canto gift of singing like a windswept lark on a bright day, and an acting style combining the natural with the daring. Anna has been hailed as the centurys most spectacular voice with extraordinary beauty to match. NY Post Clive Garnes
i have seen 'la traviata ' live more 18 times, from different corps but never have feel the brindisi in this way, their acting is fantasting, voices also, an innovation for a great opera ,everything perfect. This is the traviata that Verdi probably had in mind,a Violeta that makes us feel and not only listen.
She is probably the most beautiful opera diva alive. Audrey Hepburn of opera. Just look at 2:14-2:21.
This is new "invention" that I never saw in older Traviata performances (although in 2000 Eteri Gvazava produced a very impressive, psychologically complex acting of its own in the film "La Traviata a Paris").
Netrebko is one of the very few Violetta performers when you can believe that a young noble man can run away with a courtesan, endangering his status and his family...
Villazon is very overrated. He sounds HOOTED, THROATY, MONOCHROMATIC and PUSHED. You may like him. That's fine! He's your countryman. So feel free to support him as you'd support your national soccer team. Just don't suggest that he's a top tenor.
Love Rolando Villazón he's one of the best tenors of our time! Anna Netrebko is also great but I don't know why I don't like the way she sings this particular number. It seems like she can't breathe.
que basura la puesta, por favor!!!!!!

I can't help but laugh at that guy that copped a feel on her. He definitely got a hand full of tit! Though I gotta admit I would of done the same. ;)

During her "Addio del passato," you will see that you're right.
