I need to think about this song....i strive to understand why it affects me as it does... So i need to listen to it , in order to hear...And as i listen - an articulate thought is the furthest thing from my consciousness..in retrospec i must have heard It, but to encomapse it in words a failure.
'' But perhaps neither gain nor loss''. The business of artistic expression lies in the feeling...
''for us there is only the trying. The rest is not our business...''
because the musicans were totally free to do what their creativity and soul wanted to let it sound like - not try to force themselfes to make money or sound like someone else i think ... but i am 26 and what do i know? :-)
well, our respective ages can't have anything to do with it... as your reply says, the greatness is in the feeling...in the creation of the piece and in the listening...
you want to listen to this music because you are driven to it and not because it has infected your mind by being broadcasted every 5 minutes....
driven by what?
the intricacy? the skill? the attention?the emotion?the delicacy even at it's loudest...the genius of the whole...
@ellipsis000 ANSWER IS SIMPLE, GREAT MUSICIANS WHO CARE ABOUT MUSIC, JON HISEMAN ON DRUMS, DAVE GREENSLADE ON KEYS, CLEM CLEMPSON ON GUITAR AND DICK HECKSTALL-SMTH ON SAX, THEY ALL ALSO PLAYED AT ONE TIME OR ANOTHER WITH ANOTHER LEGEND, JACK BRUCE!!!
und wie glücklich bin ich das album noch immer in meinem besitz zu wissen. gerade in einer lauen sommernacht los angeles zu hören bringt mir viel erinnerung an die 70er wieder. oh mein gott, welch super musik das doch damals war.
holy hole! I just got here from (part 1) of the same song. theis really goes beyond my expectations!
I chased this album like a maniac around 1980 after hearing some people at collage talk about it, I had seen the album so I recognize it, but I did for some reason did NOT buy it, forgot why? Then it vaporized from the earth ...
MIndblowing to get to hear this finally!!!!!!!!!!!!
...and the other great moment in my life when I've stained near the garbage container when my only HEDGE suddenly appeared ...and she likes a Colosseum too!
Dave...this solo insipred my playing and still hunting me. Incredible sense of building tension and grabbing the listener attention taking him in another space. Thanks
Colosseum live is my favourite live album, and listening to it now is like walking down memory lane. It would be all right to be 16 again because this is music for the young. they however have never heared of this superb group.
Congratulations with a good father. He is a smart guy since he gave you this music when you were a child. My 3 children at age 18, 21 and 24 all play different instruments because I gave them the interest for top quality music at an early age. The oldest listened to Roky Ericksson and John Fogerty at the age of 3. Keep on listening to music from the sixties and the seventies, it does something positive to your mood. Since I live at the countryside in Norway LPs were my only concerts. Rock on.
