@SilentRaeth1 Well a great place to start a store in the states would either be in portland OR, or Vancouver WA, there are a lot of larpers out there...Mostly Amtgard,]...i think
@Danieldude43 Yeah your right, most of the population of boffer fighting are Amtgarders. Belegarth is gaining a lot popularity up north though. It would be great to get a store started, sad part is I live in the south. SCA dominates the area, so if I or anyone else were to start anything it would have to be catering to them. Otherwise I'd have to move up North.
@Danieldude43 Knighthawk armoury sales Calimacil weapons. As far as retail stores I honestly have no idea if such a thing exists in the states. I want to open my own store because I don't know that one exists. But hard thing is finding an area where there's a lot of people that do it. It's mostly an online business unless you live in Canada or Europe.
_and on side note, the owner does speak english in some of the videos.
@rogantu Most armor is expensive shields and Swords are as well. But as far as shirts and pants etc runs fairly cheap. Course this coming from a guy in the states whose basing his information on what he's seen online. Sites like Amazon and Ebay have good deals on stuff though. Just recently I found a guy reselling 10 unused Calmacil older models that he customized. For a good price. But yeah this is a very expensive hobby. I'm shocked that Norway isn't big into the sport.
@SilentRaeth1 I actually think the calimacil weapons are about right. 1000 NOK can be a lot, but it is not that much. it is like 1/400 of what I will earn a year in the future.
but you know rich people and teens. just because mostly nerds or gamers does it, it is somehow not fun or cool and there fore they don't try it.
but the main problem is probably materials lacking for the sport. you got sticks, metal rods and wood rods, but no good mats for shields or anything.
@rogantu Yeah I run my own group, I know how hard it is to get people interested. Most of my members are people who openly called it "gay" or "geeky." I finally got them to actually pick up a weapon and actually get up and do it. If more actually shut up and did it they'd enjoy it. I have about 60 members now. But we don't have money to buy Calimacil. We're all in High school or working or like me in work and College. So we make the weapons out of camp pad and pipe insulation.
@rogantu I feel ya man. I'm getting my group started. I need ten 10 of each. Spears, Shields, Swords all made by next week for my groups meeting to have decent armory. I barely have 5 weapons with the materials I have. I want a all Calimacil armory some day. Make things a lot easier on me. I'm starting but it takes awhile for everything to fall in to place. So I'm in a similar boat at the moment. lol
@rogantu haha for the record I don't LARP I just fight. Start your own group, like I have. I'm sure your you'll have some fun at least till you can get the better stuff. Have a good one.
there are 4 or 5 big groups with websites, the best thing I can do is get my best friend and maybe, just maybe 1 more guy to fight with me and then try one of those groups.
no point in making more groups when there already are enough.
@rogantu I have about 10 groups here man. I had 50 members in my old group, I took a few from groups around the ares due to the fact I had more practical rules and far less complicated ones. Not to mention I had few guys with Calimacils, and we had more games. That and we didn't take Frodo across middle earth. We just fought. Dressing up is optional. I do it for fun. Not much point but as long as you have fun I think the point becomes a mute topic. You maybe surprised.

@SilentRaeth1 yeah here in Norway I can't really find much.
I heard there was a store in the big city that had equipment, but I bet it is expensive.
Couldn't find store with mats for anything else than a round boffer sword still expensive :(
Larpers, probably ok found 4 or 5 websites and 3 youtubers who larp yay :D
I still think Calimacil would be the best go for me or if I could I would loved to make a store for larpers and make Norway aware of this sport.

@SilentRaeth1 yes exactly, pipe insolator is the only real mat I can get, that and wooden things for brooms to use as a core.
only got 1 friend who I know would be willing to try larp, the rest are on youtube or the larp websites.
haven't tried yet, but I bet my wep with the metal core will break in less than 10 battles.
tried a really hard swing+kick and a part bent, but that was at max force.
still we don't have camp pad! :(
only those small square ones
rogantu 9 months ago
@rogantu I recommend, using PVC or fiber glass. If your able to get them. They're both far more durable.
SilentRaeth1 9 months ago
@SilentRaeth1 nope none got the fiber glass, pvc is usually too small.
rogantu 9 months ago
@rogantu I'm not sure what the metric measurements are but we use here 1/2inch pvc for swords and daggers mostly and 3/4inch pvc. pole arms.
Fiberglass is hard to come by for the most part. We have to buy those one online too.

@SilentRaeth1 ugh, I wanna larp now, but gotta wait over a half year due to credit card stuff T_T
feels so unfair because I got what is needed now, but can't start yet or buy calimacil :(

@SilentRaeth1 and in the end you can't buy enough of those and if you do Calimacil would be cheaper
rogantu 9 months ago
@rogantu Sadly your right, in bulk your just as well to buy Calimacil in the long run and they will last longer on top of it.

@Danieldude43 Canada is not in America, it is north of north America.
