Majors and Generals, and Wow.... I'm in awe, Sirs. I'm just a daughter of a WWII dad who sat at the bottom of those ships in a radar shack, in a convoy, protecting our destroyers.  It got hair-y....that's all I know.

Midway, Guadalcanal, the Slot, Tinien, The entire Philipines Campaign, Iwo Jima, Guam...in fact, in the entire Pacific Campaign, only the first actual island invasion, Tarawa and Pearl Harbor, itself were sites of high US casualties. Oh, and remember, 10% of the Pearl Harbor attacking fleet were shot down by unprepared sailors. What were the brits doing at that time?
