  • JApanese are japenese.(A pakistani)

  • who is the instructor here? and where?

  • I wonder how the students managed to acquire the black belt... Remember, 1st Dan means mastership and not beginner. The do not engage any good Kiai and do not seem to focus their power into the hit phase.

  • @chemiecharmeur

im 18 years shotokan and i was always taught 1st Dan were just beginners-not mastery of anything. I try to judge people on actually how many times they show up a week to train, not their techniques.

  • @chemiecharmeur You are both kinda right 1st Dan is MASTERSHIP of THE BASICS!!!!! Don't forget that!!!!!

  • this is good drills for the okinawan way, most excellent, an as for the student not putting forth effort that will come in time. very good sensei ush!!!!!!

  • these techniques are powerful but it looks like many karate practitioners sacrifice face and mouth for power. why leave the face open like that?

  • DJ is not pivoting on the back leg for Mae-ashi Mawashi geri, he will twist his knee and the knee will become swollen,..........just because you weight so much more than your friends it does not kean you should do half techniques......

  • l'idea è buona ma gli studenti sembrano scarsini mentre l'istruttore si muove meglio dando più valore alla tecnica che comunque non è poi così esaltante il voto e 6/10

  • Where is this? United States?

  • @fastsnake Yes United States

  • I agree that the Sensei was good, with positive energy and all.

Were the students really black belts? Hmm.

  • Indeed, the Black student seems much more stronger than the White one.

  • The Sensei is talented.

  • Good drills guys . Its not about all show for the camera but you are working with the essence of the sport. Keep it strong.

  • i can go to sport shop and buy a black belt too

  • hmm, i think i can learn it.... but now i still white belt ==

  • haha im red belt

  • No way those students are black belts...

  • I liked the video as it is always good to see different combinations even if only performed loosely and not with full kime!

  • Oh ,well its not that bad, but i could record better video in the club im training in . :)

  • The teacher looks ok. But the students aren't putting in much effort!

  • true!!!! the teacher is decent but the spirit is missing in the students. spirit is what makes the karateka dangerous. it must be remembered that it was born of the samurai mindset. that is why so many japanese terms in karate can be traced back to the samurai. kata to many great fighters is a way of training for kumite and an example of that mindset is elwyn hall and yahara. they are not "pretty" to watch but they will send chills down your spine to see the kamekazi spirit in their attack.

  • @genious4real

And how would this spirit manifest in the students ? What demonstrates that it is missing ? I think this video shows them listening to their teacher and learning.

The "kamikaze spirit" was invented by desperate military commanders at the end of WWII and is nothing to do with samurai mindset. If a karate-ka had "kamikaze spirit" I don't think anyone would want to train with them.

  • @nogek you obviously do not pratice karate on a very high level! Ikken Hisatsu, the attitude that every battle is a life or death battle and every technique is designed to destroy the opponent came come accross in the execution of a reverse punch! if you think of kata as a means of training for kumite you will know when a kata like empi is done with complete focus. maybe the worry of a drop out rate is why karate is in many ways now a joke. are not these people black belts?

  • @genious4real

How do you measure ikken hisatsu ? Tell me how you know the attitude of the people in this video, are you reading their minds ?

Have you seen anyone killed with one blow ? I wouldn't want to train in your dojo.

  • @nogek again, if you really practiced karate like it was meant to be practiced you would know that a strong shift of the hips with kime results in a reverse punch that is obviously powerful and makes even a heavyweight gi crackle. look at yahara, ronnie christopher, frank brennan, enoeda and you will see what you are lacking. and no, for sure you would not want to train at my dojo. of that I have no doubt.

  • @nogek let me also say that the teacher has the right idea and good execution, but the smaller male black belt looks like he got promoted because he showed up.

  • Um bom treinamento para faixa preta, nível de boa qualidade.

    Oss.

  • Not bad.

  • I studied under H. Nishiyama and we never used unbalanced techniques as shown in this demonstration video. Good luck!

  • Could you please post a video showing how to execute a gyaku zuki in the different footwork of karate?

  • This is technical training. From this type of work, one can learn timing, technique, range, and depending on the intensity, endurance. This particular clip wasn't so intense, of course.Putting on the pads and banging away yields nothing without first mastering the basics.

I fail to see how it could breed false confidence unless they were severely neglecting contact drills. Remember this is only one drill, and to condemn a martial art as "stupid training" from one aspect seems kinda narrow minded

  • @renshiboom i do not understund why are they doing this shit?when they pucnh their face open one punch to the face thats all.karate technique is bulshit
