  • Can hypERthyroidism cause ADHD-like symptoms such as hyperactivity?

    I ask because my doctor said that I have hypERthyroidism and when I was younger, I was very hyperactive.

  • Introduction

    General inspection, and inspection of neck

    Protrude tongue, swallow and observe

    Palpate trachea

    Palpate from behind, isthmus and thyroid bed

    Lymphadenopathy - posterior and anterior triangles, cervical chain and paratracheal, submental/submandibular etc

    Percussion - retrosternal extension

    Auscultate for bruit if goitre present

    Thyroid status - acropachy, onycholysis, anxiety, exophthalmos, pulse, reflexes, ophthalmoplegia, lid retraction and lag, pretibial myxoedema
