Some day soon I'll be backpacking through Europe with a bunch of weird offbeat bohemian kids and we'll go up into the mountains with a bunch of drums, guitars, ocarinas, flutes, and fiddles and then we'll play this song for hours and dance around a big bonfire. It'll be great.
And they were all argueing about how they were going cook us ... whither they were going to turn us on a spit ... or sit on us one by one and squish us into jelly!
*Gasp*
But they spent so much time argueing ... the whither too's and the Why for's that as the sun's first light peaked over the trees ...
PUFF!
*GASP!!*
It Turned them all into stone!
All by memory ... Was my favorite part of the movie when I was younger.
Its songs like this is why I'm so proud to be Irish :)
And come over to Eire be all means! Experience Dublin sure - buts its places like Kerry, Cork or Galway is where the magic is at. :) It's honestly like stepping into Tolkiens Universe.
I always imagine the ringwraiths arrive at The Shire a little early, wind up in this song, and wind up dancing with the hobbits instead of attempting to kill them :P
Lord of the rings is the best movies ever, and this was my favorite song out of all of them, besides the one where gandalf falls in that pit.. sad song, THIS SONG IS AWESOME!
I've heard hurdy gurdies make that vibrating sound before. But I couldn't really hear the sound of one being bowed in there. Which really does me no favours because I'm quite curious as to what's making that noise.
@xaviervandepoll I've got the Complete Recordings of the Lord of the Rings Soundtrack, and it says in the booklet that the intruments for hobbits and hobbit themes are; Tin whistle, Bodhrán, Fiddle, Dulcimer, Celtic harp, Musette, Mandolin, Guitar, and Celesta. Hope that helped.
I have the Complete Recordings too, but the digital version, so which there comes no booklet with.
However, I managed to find the same information on the internet, but still thanks a very lot! I can "identify" all the instruments now, except for one, which would be the one making the vibrating sound, as heard in the beginning of the song.
@MissErendis Yes, in the behind the scenes part 6 of the extended edition they talk about the design of the haradrim and they gave them small gold plates on there armour which is taken from the Aztec culture.
@popcornpopsyou there were non whites in the movie.. the aligned themselves with the evil side... the had a arab flavor to them... its sort of racist..
I think, and of course this is my theory, that Tolkien was more or less basing the Hobbits on Irish folk. The partying, drinking, fun loving folk. But quick to defend their private homelands.
