Guys, get over it. A well-driven car will beat a comparable, but poorly driven car. A body kit does not limit horsepower (600hp MR2s exist), nor does a GT-R have to be a 1,000hp HKS special. In THIS movie, THIS MR2 beat THIS Skyline. My 140hp MR2 has passed several more powerful cars with worse drivers and been passed by less powerful cars with better drivers. My coworker has never taken his 400whp R-33 to a track. Oh, and it's a movie- say it with me- "moooooo vieeee." MR2 ftw.

the taillights have nothing to do with jdm spec, I have a 92 jdm and they are the same as usdm, and the 93-94+ where round and center panel matched with the cars's color, so this is just a gen 2 with tuning lights. Also, r33 are from 1995, mr2 gen 3 from 94, they could have take the gen III mr2, even on straight it would take r33's measure.

It helps in cuttin corners, it's used for drifting alot but if here in America there really is no point in the heel-toe technique since all the roads are so wide.
Heal toe isn't for corners, it's for breaking. it matches the revs so the driven wheels don't lock up.
Also stops the shock of a sudden change of rpm from breaking things like gears, diffs and drive shafts.
It is also necessary when your car has no/bad synchromesh for the gearbox. It's helps the car get into gear. Race cars use it, as well as anyone who has a old gearbox (MR2's are know for it)
definatly tha mr2 has better cornering but it bites you in the ass if your not careful, i had a 88 mr2 and it was hard under really tight cornering to keep it from spinning out

Well filmed. The GTR definately has more power so in the streights its awesome, but the mid-engine makes the MR@ a beast in the turns. My two favorite cars of all time in this video.
Its an MR2 GENII, GENII develops 240bhp instead of 220 for the gen II in the movie and it can hit quarter mile in about mid 13 stock, so if it was a gen 3 in the movie (and they where out before r33 GTR) the gtr would still be better on straight but not so much, considering the weight difference.

a fully built skyline will not kill everything. and t depends on what type of race, drag racing, it'd be a challenge, john shepherd runnin in the high 7s with his talon, the GTR would be a relatively bad pick for drifting with the ATESSA kicking in when you slide, but for road course, aka lemans style racing, it has the power and the handling to put cars 4x the cost to shame. my r33 puts out 960@the wheels at 28psi on 103 octane. mean in a straightline, not so much a twisty car
i own a gtr and an sw20, my sw20 isn't built to do the 1/4 in 10seconds, but i've had it up to 186mph, gear limited, and i've got nothing against it, i find it easier to drive than the gtr due to the moderate power it's got, 371at the wheels aint too shabby for a car of its size
in a straight away the skyline would kill the mr2 but because of the mr2's mid engine it is much more balanced in the corners and would turn alot better than the skyline. plus the skyline is heavy as fuck compared to the mr2

BUT TEH SKYRINE HAS 2 BE ZE FASTEREST CAR IN A STRAIGHTLINE EVAR! also the skyline has AWD and is one of the best handling cars out there albeit i still dont like them. and the mr2 has its snap oversteer making it a bitch to drive sometimes.
the "snap" oversteer makes it a bitch to drive if you don't know how to drive. Plus that was suspension setup which would be changed with after market suspension. and was also changed in gen3+ MR2's. anyway seeing as this is a movie scene it would be silly to read anything into it.

While what super2ner said is true, most cars that have turbo experience the brief lag. it's common on most turbos, which is why most prefer either the n/a or a supercharger. I have a super charger on mine.
Goodluck on that one,Shuto Kousoku Max is one of FIVE movies in a series all made across a span of like 10 years or so. For anyone looking for this intire movie I suggest you search the net for it's "torrents" and I'm more then sure you'll find it. However,in this perticular scene the guy in skyline actually dies later in the movie. So later on (twards the end after his death) the guy in the MR2 has a flashback of his best friend and how they met.

If I remember correctly they race for slips and the guy with the 33 loses, the guy with the MR2 ends up racing for him while he tunes his cars, mr2 guy then races and loses to Tsuchiya in an NSX, later 33 guy and MR2 guy rechallenge and the 33 guy crashes and dies while trying to tune a new ECU for MR2 to rerace Tsuchiya.

its a heel-toe down shift. it allows you to match the rev speed to the engine. and in turbo cars, prevents turbo lag.
Basically, he just shifts down whilst breaking, uses heel to rev into power band (for appropriate gear) and away he goes.

in a straight away the skyline would kill the mr2 but because of the mr2's mid engine it is much more balanced in the corners and would turn alot better than the skyline. plus the skyline is heavy as fuck compared to the mr2

lol you fail...... congratulations you read on a forum somewhere about all this didnt you.. there are mr2's making over 800hp out there.... BUT TEH SKYRINE HAS 2 BE ZE FASTEREST CAR IN A STRAIGHTLINE EVAR! also the skyline has AWD and is one of the best handling cars out there albeit i still dont like them. and the mr2 has its snap oversteer making it a bitch to drive sometimes.

the "snap" oversteer makes it a bitch to drive if you don't know how to drive. Plus that was suspension setup which would be changed with after market suspension. and was also changed in gen3+ MR2's. anyway seeing as this is a movie scene it would be silly to read anything into it.

Neither do they come standard with blow off valves, big ass stainless exhaust systems, induction systems, graphics/sponsers, bodykits, aftermarket spoilers.. kind of blew your 'standard' theory out ot the window.. surely if you spend that much money on a motor you'd fork out the extra £150 for a turbo timer.. :D

While what super2ner said is true, most cars that have turbo experience the brief lag. it's common on most turbos, which is why most prefer either the n/a or a supercharger. I have a super charger on mine.

Goodluck on that one,Shuto Kousoku Max is one of FIVE movies in a series all made across a span of like 10 years or so. For anyone looking for this intire movie I suggest you search the net for it's "torrents" and I'm more then sure you'll find it. However,in this perticular scene the guy in skyline actually dies later in the movie. So later on (twards the end after his death) the guy in the MR2 has a flashback of his best friend and how they met.

partyly right, I think he races a guy in a supra who crash;s and dies, then the guy in the 33 takes the ECU he was working on and use's it in his car and wins.

If I remember correctly they race for slips and the guy with the 33 loses, the guy with the MR2 ends up racing for him while he tunes his cars, mr2 guy then races and loses to Tsuchiya in an NSX, later 33 guy and MR2 guy rechallenge and the 33 guy crashes and dies while trying to tune a new ECU for MR2 to rerace Tsuchiya.
