There have been tons of American remakes of shows that have sucked so much dick that you wouldn't believe it possible. I think what UK viewers have a problem with is the fact that UK broadcasters buy the rights to air American series in the UK.....and there are A LOT of them...and they are really good for the most part as I'm English and seen them....but the US, rather than do the same, feel the need to buy the rights and then completely remake it with American actors! Another great example of how those lazy POS's in H-wood do nothing but plagiarize anything they can find. This show was on for over five seasons in the UK and some scumbag tries to sell it as a new idea to America. This happens all the time! 8 times out of 10 if you find a decent show on American TV, it was partially ripped off from another country. I haven't seen the US version, but I am going to bet that it sucks! The UK version is actually pretty good, not great but above avg.

This show is definitely fun to watch, and the actors, directors, writers, set designers,and cameramen all did a great job.
But the story doesn't make sense. There's no way this family could have a house like that. They wouldn't be able to pay the property taxes and utilities, and the heating costs would be through the roof (literally.)
In the original British series, Frank lived in a housing estate where you can get away without paying your rent and spend your entire life on the "dole."

will you all just shut the hell up about what version is better.the reason american people wont like the uk version is because they dont understand it, i even know a few people in my area that dont understand it. im from the uk (scotland technically speaking) and i think the uk version is a lot better than this version and i know some (probably most) american people will disagree with me. look ive seen this version and i thought it was pretty decent but i do think the original is better.

@adambrown15 well said. I am american and I have watched both. I do prefer the American version as it was made with american cultural references in mind. I've watch the UK version and it just doesn't feel "real" to me since I'm not used to living in the UK and understanding how people live there and the things in that culture that are funny. It's not like Shameless US is competeing w/uk ver. No, it's competing w/other american shows.

Another great example of how those lazy POS's in H-wood do nothing but plagiarize anything they can find. This show was on for over five seasons in the UK and some scumbag tries to sell it as a new idea to America. This happens all the time! 8 times out of 10 if you find a decent show on American TV, it was partially ripped off from another country. I haven't seen the US version, but I am going to bet that it sucks! The UK version is actually pretty good, not great but above avg.

This show is definitely fun to watch, and the actors, directors, writers, set designers,and cameramen all did a great job.
But the story doesn't make sense. There's no way this family could have a house like that. They wouldn't be able to pay the property taxes and utilities, and the heating costs would be through the roof (literally.)
In the original British series, Frank lived in a housing estate where you can get away without paying your rent and spend your entire life on the "dole."
