I thought this sequel was good, but the first one was much better in my opinion. I actually enjoyed the graphics on the first one as everything appeared to have an odd color to everything that somehow made everything look fake. It's hard for me to explain but it was coincidentally creepy. I thought that the first one was also full of more terrifying elements along with carrying a more darker atmosphere and better executed scare tactics. The graphics are nicer, but they looker more colorful/cartoony and less realistic than the first FEAR. :/ I liked that gritty, dark, soul-less feel to the environment and combat FEAR 1 had. (i.e FEAR2 and it's blue sparks, bright outline of the character models, and the blood (esp in kills) has an extreme cartoony look to it, and the weapons are just too bright and "sci-fi" ish)
Fear 2 is actually totally easy, all you have to do to kill all the enemies or killing on multiplayer is running to your target and make a sort of dropkick on the floor and it dies in like one sec
The only remotely scary part was when you had to take out the failed test subjects. this game was not the least bit scary and the weapons suck aswell.
This game didn't scare me but it was fun to play. The first FEAR and Perseus Mandate scared the shit out of me AND it was fun to play. I'm not saying FEAR 2's a bad game but they should have tried to keep it close to the first game. I haven't played Extraction Point yet (I can't find a copy of it).
Freaky. I don't think I'm going to play it again though. It's very repetitive in each interval and even though the graphics are better, I still find the first F.E.A.R. to be the better of the two.

I played F.E.A.R 1 and F.E.A.R 2 so i can tell that both are good action (shooter) games and i found F.E.A.R 1 a bit more scarier but F.E.A.R 2 is also scary at some parts of the game. F.E.A.R 1 haves a better storyline and it's scaryer than F.E.A.R 2 but F.E.A.R 2 haves a better gameplay and graphics are much better and weapons MAN I LOVE THE GRENADES XD
F.E.A.R 2 is definitely a good game, but not even near as good as the first F.E.A.R and its expansions. Futuristic HUD, giant robots and crazy visual effects may be nice, but it doesn't have that scary atmosphere from the first one that was a REALLY cool horror game because it had everything it ever needed. I do hope F.E.A.R will fix things up. :D

Two critiques: 1) Warner Bros. only published this game; Monolith developed it. If you are going criticize the game, address the developers, not the publishers. 2) The problem of flipping over cover and reloading mapped to the same key is exclusive to the console versions because there are separate key bindings for those actions on the PC. Comment: If you play on the hardest difficulty setting, the game isn't necessarily a push over, especially if you refrain from using slow-mo every few seconds
Because at first Monolith lost the rights to the name and when they managed to buy it back, they had pretty much finished the game under the premise that the player was part of Delta squad.
Considering how it all turned out, we're extremely well off ass Point Man is still out there and F.E.A.R has a whole story to unlock. Introducing the new characters like Becket is really rare if it wasn't forced and was extremely well pulled off regardless of all the little "Fuss" and "Disappointments" evolving around FEAR2.
It's still a marvelous piece of work with storyline and atmosphere that just blast through any roof. I always rated FEAR series as the number 1 series of the century.
Obviously gameplay is the most significant aspect of this game, but why was there no mention of the quality of the story behind it all in this review? That seems to be what really brought the game down a few pegs from a triple A title. FEAR 1 was a vastly superior game, all things considered
Love FEAR but FEAR 2 reminds me of Condemned 2 which is a good game but not as scary as the first Condemned which is amazingly chilling hopefully FEAR 3 will be by far the scariest game ever because I trust monolith with that and they seriously need to do something about the blood effects!

Fear 2 is a good game, but it is neither as scary or as hard as Fear 1. Basically, if you like the fear series for its shooter parts, it's a great game. But if you like the series for its scary parts, it won't do much that you don't expect.

I recently just got Ninja Gaiden 2 and F.E.A.R 2 and i say that they are both really good games and buy them, well since it's a F.E.A.R 2 video, just buy this game

Because at first Monolith lost the rights to the name and when they managed to buy it back, they had pretty much finished the game under the premise that the player was part of Delta squad.

Considering how it all turned out, we're extremely well off ass Point Man is still out there and F.E.A.R has a whole story to unlock. Introducing the new characters like Becket is really rare if it wasn't forced and was extremely well pulled off regardless of all the little "Fuss" and "Disappointments" evolving around FEAR2.
It's still a marvelous piece of work with storyline and atmosphere that just blast through any roof. I always rated FEAR series as the number 1 series of the century.

Obviously gameplay is the most significant aspect of this game, but why was there no mention of the quality of the story behind it all in this review? That seems to be what really brought the game down a few pegs from a triple A title. FEAR 1 was a vastly superior game, all things considered

Love FEAR but FEAR 2 reminds me of Condemned 2 which is a good game but not as scary as the first Condemned which is amazingly chilling hopefully FEAR 3 will be by far the scariest game ever because I trust monolith with that and they seriously need to do something about the blood effects!

i like fear 2 but i agree that it is too easy. in fear 1 on extreme i was usually fighting for my health kits but in fear 2 theres always armor around to replace what youve lost b/c u dont lose health b4 u lose all ur shields

Looks like 4 AA and 8 AF is the max settings.
1920x1200, 4xAA, 8XAF, maximum settings, it looks like the 9600 gt should do about 30 FPS.
9800 gt maybe more like 36 to 38 FPS.
I did it on a 8800 gtx 1920x1200 maxed and it was perfect.

I figured something like that would be possible.
I doubt you'll see a difference after 4 AA though if you ask me. Maybe if you look REALLY close.
35 FPS or so at max settings is good.

jaggies really go away with 16x and characters and what not blend into the background instead of sticking out like a sore thumb.
Super sampling is the shit..
lol prepare for 32x Anti aliasing with the release of the 300 series from nvidia.

Well I found even with AA off I don't mind.
4xAA would seem to make them mostly go away, but yeah 16xAA sounds great.
I guess performance/quality wise, find your mix and preference.

Honestly, i guess i'm spoiled. you can really see the difference in Counter strike for some reason out of most the games i've tried.
I bet a really nice 9800GT could pull 16x 16x off with 30fps or better.
Whew, but with those new Nvidia cards coming out (soon) and what i've seen from ATi.
man video games are about to get fat.
wish i could have some sort of AA / AF on crysis hahaha.

Fear 2 is a good game, but it is neither as scary or as hard as Fear 1. Basically, if you like the fear series for its shooter parts, it's a great game. But if you like the series for its scary parts, it won't do much that you don't expect.

Fear 2 has better gfx than Fear but the gameplay
is clearly not the same. Its far to easy and the consolitus hurts it additionaly. Fear played like
a recaped HL1 gruntbattle with some TV-like
horroreffects,Fear 2 is a kiddyconcole actiongame.

its not bad. this review is pretty much spot on. He didnt say one thing I disagree with. Its good, but could have been better if given more of a survival feel with less ammo etc.
