Virtually every CRT monitor in existence has a "degauss" function in the OSD ( on-screen-display ).
Use this function once, maybe twice, all should return back to normal. If degaussing doesn't get it, use the opposite polarity of a much weaker magnet to get the high spots normalized, then degauss again.
No it doesn't. Just use the same magnet and wave it fast back and forth over the monitor to reduce the pent-up magnetism. Then, for whatever is left over, use the monitor's built-in degausser. Works fine.
Just press the auto correct screen button and it disappears smartasses

I like playing with magnets and CRTs :-)

LOL sweet xDDDDDDDDDDDDD
i never knew what it actually looked like.
but yeah you could just go on the moniter and do an option to degauss it.
so far i only think its on windows XP cause i can't find it on my vista (i'm only around vista and Xp computers duing my day)

Degauss is a CRT function, operating system has nothing to do with it, whatsoever.
This will NOT work on LCD ( flat panel ) monitors.. in fact, I'm not too sure I know what it would do ( probably nothing on most LCDs ).

It exactly does nothing to an LCD. Checked empirically;-)

hoser4 4 years ago
not always... if the shadow mask parts are magnetized it leaves a little residual field
minousoft 3 years ago
You'll want a bulk tape eraser for fixing that...
wbeaty 5 years ago
Or just duct tape the same magnets to a drill and spin them really fast infront of the moniter...
