  • Appreciate the fine quality film & sound!

  • This is a real gem,Howlin' Wolf at his peak, and Hubert Sumlin with his awesome guitar playing just the best!!!

  • what a band . massive talent and heartfelt reverence for beautiful music

  • He had to stand up got good to him.

  • unico nos dejo lo mejor de EL

  • ヒューバートさんご冥福をお祈りします。

  • THIS IS STORY OF MUSIC....!!!!

  • Great upload tks. The wolf could certainly whack them out. Brilliant.

  • great footage and even greater music .....!!!!

  • He was a true LEGEND..

  • Howlin' Wolf....the true KING of the Blues.

  • Wow, this video footage of these legendary performers, along with a well respected blues singer, an actress, Mae Mercer, is just priceless. Howlin' Wolf is arguably, the greatest blues performer of them all, and his guitar playing sidekick, Hubert Sumlin is the last of all of these performers, to pass away (12/04/11). I wouldn't doubt, that they're all jammin' to this song in heaven right now, lol, R.I.P. to them all...

  • is this real?

  • everyone complains about todays music, but really, I dont give a shit. lets just be thankful that these masters existed and made their music to live forever. and really, there are as many good artists now as ever, its just hard to find them among everything else. modern times allows us to listen to whoever we want whenever we want, and it allows people to introduce their own music to the world a lot easier. I love it.

  • Rest in peace...

  • Wolf's guitar appears to be Epiphone Century.

  • Damn Germans don't know where to aim the camera, do they?

  • @MrOnutz: I think he's playing an Epiphone quitar, made by the Gibson Co, but have no idea which model it might be. Anyway, that old school sound of those earliest pickups through tube-amps is as warm as it can get! Love it!! Thanks for all your 'educational' uploads 'Yumgui" !!

  • high class howlin

  • Besides the wickedly sexy allure of the presenter, no cover of this track come even close to the original. Hubert clocked them licks like no tomorrow! Howling Wolf You's the man!

  • So it looks like Wolf is maybe 2 meters or 7 ft from the microphone. maybe more. What a voice!

  • Little Hubert was the man!!

  • This is the best performance of "The Wolfman" I have ever seen.

  • Please people, stop feeding the trolls. lol

Sometimes I wish I could make a sign like they have at the zoo.

Anybody with ears can hear the power of Howlin Wolf and the mastery of Hubert Sumlin. Some people need auto-tune, a dozen producers, and loud effects in their music... Thank God I'm not one of them.

  • It may say 'Howlin' Wolf' but those of us in the know, realize this is another golden moment for Mr. Sumlin. His playing is what makes this a classic..... yeah, if you agree then ...well.... nuff said....

Go Hubert, another classic sick blues from one of the masters!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • @lostintheblues Hey...i agree but I can't dismiss the contribution made by Willie and Slim.....

  • i could do without her introduction, wolf deserved better

  • Paddy2youse: You're bored because you have no soul. When you do a gut check, there's nothing there. This music speaks to three places: the mind, the heart and the private places of real men and woman. If you can't feel it in all three places, you are an empty shell.

  • 'and know it give me the glate predure' lovely vid.

  • @paddy2youse

Sorry, but your last comment sounds more than jaded to me ...

All I can hope is that you will one day come out of your personal frustration, whether it be white or black, about the fact that you can't make music like these people did in their day !

If you practice your music rather than your failed wit, you might get there ...

Put that in your pipe and smoke it ^^

  • @paddy2youse

Wow, you're a cynical douchebag. Anyone who knows anything about music, no matter what their background, would recognize the musicality in this performance. Howlin' Wolf is a legend -- this is true -- but he was also the front man of a tight, well-disciplined blues band that could rock a crowd.

The "old blues dides" you speak of are not famous for being famous; they're famous for being great musicians, song writers, and performers.

  • @paddy2youse Wow...get a life. The Howlin' Wolf is a badass.

    So:

1.) You're an ignorant little prick who doesn't know what the fuck (s)he's talking about.

2.) Go comment on the modern auto tune bullshit that somehow qualifies as music these days.

3.) As I am a musician myself, I can find that: A- You are a dipshit. B- You need to jump off a cliff. C- GTFO of America.

This IS American Music. If you don't like it, DON'T LISTEN TO IT!!!

  • @paddy2youse Wow! Did your mother not hug you as a child?

  • @paddy2youse If you are bored with Howlin' Wolf and his band, you are probably dead... you have no emotion, see a neurologist, psychiatrist, psychologist, and get all the professional help you can get... or better, just commit suicide, you're a non-living thing anyway.

  • @paddy2youse You're an idiot on a level few idiots ever reach. Just a total moron. Go listen to some modern shit and die.

  • @Triumph72

Hey, look who it is!! It's Triumph72, spreading more of his holiday cheer! Man, if only you were a tad smarter. Perhaps you'd have made that high school debate team back in the day. Maybe then you wouldn't be such a bitter little cunt. Hey, good luck with that. Oh, and keep peddling how Zeppelin didn't steal from the original Blues man. You slack-jawed simp.

  • @67goldtops Incorrect, schmuck. Not once did I say Zep didn't steal from the Blues men. I merely suggested that Jimmy Page did not go around saying "I wrote You Shook Me and I Can't Quit You Baby", NO ONE would be moron enough to believe that Page went around saying he wrote these songs. And by the mere fact that you needed to post twice in a row, you're the schmuck who appears frustrated. You're a know-it-all. The worst kind of douche there is.

  • @Triumph72

You're so incompetent, you really think the crux of the matter is whether or not "people knew" if Zeppelin stole material. Of course no one really believed Page wrote the tunes. The point is, Page didn't care. Page acted with impunity, because he knew the amount he'd make in royalties would exceed the amount he'd inevitably have to pay after being sued. The "knowledge" of the listening public was irrelevant. Page's actions in USING the original artist is the issue. U cunt.

  • @67goldtops So Page was greedy. Who gives a shit. Get over it. Pull the stick out of your ass and lighten up. And stop sending me messages and links. I don't read or look at them, because as I said before, you are a pompous, arrogant dick. Die.

  • @Triumph72

"I don't read or look at them."

    VICTORIOUS.

  • @Triumph72

    you got owned!goldtop owned you.

  • @Triumph72 Yeah, the problem isn't about boasting that u wrote said tune, cuz if u didn't give attribution in the 1st place, that is loudly enough implied.

  • Go Hubert!

  • @MrRGanja

WOW! He was something, eh! I thought that Stevie made up the solo on his live "In the beginning album" but no, I guess Stevie pretty much played it note for note, with a little more aggresiveness!

Now I know why blues musicians often state Hubert Sumlin as an influence.

  • @QuiltedPine

What a team, Hubert and Wolf!

There are so many more people in the world today. We should have dozens of Huberts and Wolfs running around out there! Sigh...

    Go Youtube!

  • If this is the devils music, then i'm gonna be the first in line to suck on that dirty old winkie.

  • amazing..

also..who's the girl with the sexy voice??

  • @dehro the one and only Mae Mercer. check out may mercer: careless love. amazing lady.

  • Does anyone know what kind of guitar Howlin' is playing in this video?

  • @MrOnutz

    Good question ...

  • @Yumgui One with strings.

  • @MrOnutz

Could be an Epiphone Zenith, which is very familiar with the Kay Archtop Wolf used a lot.

  • @MrOnutz It looks like an 50s Epiphone Zenith.

  • @MrOnutz its an epiphone , the headstock can clearly be seen in another video from this same show, i think its a mid 50s epiphone zenith, i saw one that was a 53 or 54 with that same mark on the headstock , also hes using an archtop pickup, probably a dearmond

  • @MrOnutz I think it is an Epiphone. Not sure which model.

  • @MrOnutz Godawful Youtube has some kind of crapped-up BS that won't take my info with links to more info no matter how I spell it. Epiphone! There! I said it! Got a problem with knowledge? Why Yes, YT, you dooo. Play the blues. Peace.

  • @MrOnutz My father thought it was a baritone ukulele. LOL

  • Comment removed

  • @MrOnutz Looks like a Epiphone Archtop Electric guitar (circa 1960-64)

  • Comment removed

  • @MrOnutz It look like a child's guitar in his enormous hands!

  • @MrOnutz it's an Epiphone.

  • @MrOnutz i don't remember the gibson's model name, but there is the godin 5th avenue, looks the same, and it's wuite good, it's also at a great price.

  • Comment removed

  • @MrOnutz looks like a 50's or 60's epiphone archtop with a gibson p13 pickup in the neck. those are great-sounding pickups.

  • Hands down. the Master Blues musician of his time with the most original sound of them all

  • he got the blues
