Can this tool be used for binding 8 inch pot holders? Or things where you wouldn't have 12+ inches to leave? If so, how do you use this tool for that? Thanks!
@jeankaryl No, it wouldn't work for the smaller projects! So glad you mentioned this, we will put together a tutorial on doing the binding on smaller projects. Have a great day!
This is a great instructional video for the tool. I bought tool today as recommended by my quilt instructor...but I found video hilarious ....the presenter stated without apology this was the second of 2 similar videos; this one for those of us who are 'slower learners.' Next she talked about how the tool was not to be turned upside down as she turned it upside down to begin other half of binding. Then the hire wire anticipation element of the video is set as she is talking and looking into c
@VWCTina Haha, She didn't actually turn it over. No offense was intended, as we made more videos of the demonstration only to improve our teaching. Sorry if you were offended.
I bought this tool 6 months ago and haven't used it except for once as it didn't work.....so now I think I have it after watching your new tute. I will have a go today! Thanks jenny, JillyQuilts@Norfolk xx
I just want to thank you for your video tutorials. I bought this tool after watching the tutorial. When it came time to use it, I found the instructions on the tool very confusing so I watched your video again and did each step as you said, pausing the video as I did each one. The result was perfect! Although I did have to turn my quilt so that the part I was working on was on the top (as in the video), so I agree with 46zxcv that filming over the shoulder would have made it a little easier.
I LOVE the idea of this tool but I just couldn't get the marking and cutting steps. This video has been sooooo very helpful. What a great explanation. The only difficulty I still had was in having to reverse what I was seeing. If there is any way to film looking over her shoulder it would be PERFECT!!! The pause feature let me take the time to flip what I was seeing into what needed to be done. Many thanks to Missouri Star Quilting for their EXCELLENT videos!
OK... just had to watch the video again... great idea... may even be better than my Susan Cleveland method that I've been using for years... will get from Jinny Beyer tomorrow!
Looks good - but does it work for any WIDTH of binding? What's important is the distance between the stopping points for the binding sewing - right? Hmm....
I purchased this ruler at the Houston Quilt Show in November, but of course didn't remember how they demonstrated it to us! I am a visual person, so this video helped me so much, thanks!
I’ve been struggling with binding at the end, so I perched this tool, and the next time I was ready to do binding I watch this video first and YEAH! I did it. It works great. Thank you.
I had to watch this tutorial like a "hawk" and stop and start and make sure I understood what to do...But the first try was a complete success!! I'm sure in no time I'll be a pro at using this tool, and I thank you so much for helping to make that possible! I LOVE your tutorial and shopping at (and recommending) your store!
I've always been frustrated binding my quilts, and I bought this tool at a quilt show. The demonstration looked so easy, but when it came time to bind mine, I had to watch your tutorial several times, stopping and starting. Success! Thank you for taking the guesswork out of binding and making it easy!
Thank goodness for your tutorial! I was so frustrated and ready to return the tool to the quilt store. I took the tool and my project back to the store and together we figured it out.. The store owner recommended I look at this tutorial, which I have several times and stopped it at each stage but finally had success! The binding worked out perfect as you state on the tool; it is just a matter of getting to that stage. Suggest you mention something about tutorial on future tools!
@pillarbox40 So glad you figured it out!! Why is it that binding can be the worst!?!?!? Haha, so glad though that yours went well!! have a great week!
It took me 5 rewinds of your tutorial & doing it watching as I went along, but have just completed my 1st binding using the tool & it FITS LIKE A GLOVE. Thank you from a very slow learner. I Love your tutorials, they have explained things to me beautifuly. thank you
I tried to watch 4 different clips from your selection and the sound and images does not correspond. Also, I cannot seem to get past the few seconds after the tune.
I referred to this video every time I need to do the binding on my quilts...It is something I get mixed up on because I don't do one very often...you do great job with your teaching...and I love the quilting on this quilt...You are such a natural in front of the camera, compared to other sites...your way of teaching is so good for me...because I am a self taught quilter...and I receive my orders for my fabric soooo quickly...thanks thanks thanks:)

I love the MissouriStarQuiltCo.!!!! awesome totorials> Jenny you are wonderful and clear in your teaching. I appreciate you very much. God bless you and your business.
Have you used a single width binding with the tool? I seldom use a double/folded binding for wall hangings...bought the tool and have not been successful with a single (1 1/4") binding. Help me?
Oooo I could NEVER get this step in binding correct, so I went to the website and bought 3. 1 for me and 2 for a few friends, this will make it SO easy and I won't dread this step!
I am brazilian and was on vacation in California. Some days before departure from Brazil I heard about Long Beach Quilting Festival and went there. I bought this rule and it is amazing. The binding is so easy to do. But, as someone said below, we need a 10" tail to have a perfect binding. Tku
At the beginning of the video you mention leaving a 6" - 8" tail. After the binding is sewn on, you mention having 10" tails. I left a 7" tail when I started, but it is too short. I don't have enough fabric to make the cut using the ruler. I'm wondering if you should correct the beginning of the video. I wish I hadn't followed what was said there.
Once again, I think your Tutorials are great, but what makes them the best is Jenny. It's a true gift to be such a wonderful teacher and warm and welcoming person. Thank you Jenny!!!
Thank you so much for this video. I went to use my binding tool for the first time, and couldn't figure out what the heck the instructions were saying. I remember it being so easy when I saw it demonstrated....and it is! If you know the secret step not well described on the tool. ;) Thank you!
