  • No allied aircraft could out-turn the Fokker Dr 1, with the possible exception of the Sopwith Camel, but it was more prone to go in a spin. A Nieuport 17 would get eaten-alive by a Fokker Dr 1, unless if the Nieuport pilot was lucky and and dived down on the Fokker from above. The only way to defeat a Fokker was by hit-and-run. Fighters like the Spad VII were quite successful because they had a fast speed (Fokker Dr 1 was not that fast), so you could hit-and-run.

  • 1:17 Hehe Attaicking newbie

    1:19 WUT?

1:25 Omg witf *shot* Cheater -(N17 pilot) Trolololololo

  • American always using a fucking ways to defeat these enemy. Agreed this also thump up

  • @kamikaze9628 well we don't fight to lose

  • I only wished that happened...that bastard killed my great grandfather...

  • love how at the end he's thinking 'yeah, I'm the boss. I mean, of course I've got a giant hole in my shoulder that I will probably die from but yeah, who cares?'

  • The Germans ultimately won the air battle, they had superior aircraft.

  • If you wish to watch something less cheesy, less Hollywood lowest common denominator....try Aces High or The Blue Max. Older, special effects less glitzy but far more accomplished.

  • What cheesy Hollywood rubbish.

  • @ItaloGallese Funny thing is it can happen. A handgun bullet travels just over 700 MPH. Pretty fast if you ask me.

  • They coppied this scene from Monty Python!

  • I loved this movie but when he rolls over and meets up to shoot him would have been impossible. It would have tore the wings off from the stress.

  • 1:55 "fuck yeah, i'm da boss"

  • 1:15 Roll to side

    German:Yeah?

    Allied pilot:BOOM HEADSHOT HAHAHAH!

  • Better CG in games these days..... Decent theatrics tho.

  • The black dreidecker's paint job seems to have been partially inspired by Leutnant Josef Jacobs' Dr.I 470/17. But the historical inaccuracy in this film was simply unbearable...

  • good thing he remembered his pistol!

  • Never thought about winning a dogfight that way.....

  • 100% shit

  • 00:59 : "Throat-slitting gesture"

What to do ? Flip him off. ^^

  • My gosh, people! It's a MOVIE, made for your ENTERTAINMENT! Just watch it and be happy! Go read a history book if you want complete accuracy. I bet your just jealous because your lives are boring and pointless.

I love this movie, to whoever uploaded it!

  • One of the WORST WWI dogfight movies I´ve ever seen, besides "Ace´s high". What a great disappointment. The end was completely absurd: the Nieuports that saved the protagonist from the attack of the triplanes are mysteriously "MiA" all of a sudden while the Black Hawk fills the protagonist´s aircraft with bullets (???). Where the hell were they and what the hell were they doing while all this happened? Shocked or beholding it? Why didn´t they intervene? And then those stupid smiles at the end...

  • thats called payback

  • i think the nieuport would be too fucked up to perform that maneuver.

  • Lol.. how was this even related to word called ''dogfight''

  • Once again Germans are made out to be retards and the American comes out looking like a hero.

  • whos we sucker smith wesson and me *head shots german* camera looks back up its clint east wood in a suit

  • I've never even seen this movie and I totally saw the headshot coming.

  • @PaisGreenapple3 - R-I-G-H-T. lol

  • James Franco what a beast

  • Comment removed

  • It's awfully good CG, but you have to think that if a whole bunch of bullets fired from behind had hit the upper fuselage like that, several would have gone through our hero.

I'll also add once again what a STUPID decision it was to paint all (but one of) the German planes red! The director said it was so viewers could tell the planes apart, but honestly - olive biplanes with big targets on the wings vs. triplanes (many schemes possible) with black crosses?! Are movie viewers really that dumb?

  • @carmium ya it was made so "specail" people could tell the planes too, and most are just to lazy to do enough lookin to tell

  • @carmium There were actually quite a few red Fokker DR.1's produced during WW1.

  • @MarshmallowMasta I don't know about a few. But Lother and Manfred's both most definitely. Lother had his tail tipped yellow on one and his nose tipped yellow on another plane so that people could distingish who was who though as Manfred (The Red Baron) was solid red.

  • @Carjos07 I can't find my source for the info but some number of red ones were made, more than just a few.

  • @MarshmallowMasta I have to doubt that as that is what was trademarked by The Red Baron. It was so everyone on the field and skies knew it was him.

  • @Carjos07 Perhaps it was done after his death for the sake of keeping him alive in a way?

  • @MarshmallowMasta wouldn't that cheapen his death and be taken as disrespect? to me anyway I'd feel that. Though than again maybe for one flight a whole group of red planes from his squadron being used would be great respect.

  • @Carjos07 I think in the desparate situation the germans were in they would be willing to do anything to keep morale up or make the allied side believe the baron was still alive or something. I don't know, I still haven't found the source where I saw it but I think it was like 30 some DR.1s were made in red.

  • ce film retrace , (je ne suis pas sur), l'école militaire de juvisy, où des américians engagés, ont étaient formés au pilotage...

  • why in this movie he with a shot on the chest the german doing the final look going to let him land in german territory is ok.

but how in the hell he can shoot a revolver in enemy plane and hit? remember that they are flying in the air that is impossible to be achieved at that velocity.

i think the red baron movie was good but with this scene it destroyed the whole movie this is not a fps game.

looks like call of duty! pistol on plane ridiculous! that pistol is for a defense in enemy ground S!

  • @lucaskillercris Actually that's not true. They used pistols in the air in WWI. Not saying that it would have been easy at that velocity, but they did do it.

  • @lucaskillercris - So if he didn't try to shoot the enemy pilot with his pistol, what would you expect him to do? Say, "Please, don't shoot me"? I have a suspicion that might not have worked. Two planes flying along side by side at about 70 mph or so certainly would be a very legitimate shot with a pistol, no less than two cars side by side.

  • The Black Falcon violently killed one of the Rawling(James Franco)'s friends while his friend was defenseless on the ground. You could make an argument that that was the reason he killed the Falcon in this way. (And also desperation, but I won't get into that.)

  • That was terribly unsporting of the Yank pilot.

  • @TheXand19 - The black plane was piloted by a German pilot, not an American pilot.

  • @JohnQuincyAdams1 I was referring to the Yank pilot drawing a pistol and headshotting the German after the German had thrashed him in a straight up aerial duel :P

  • @TheXand19 - No, it wasn't a, "straight up aerial duel". The American pilot's guns were jammed and he couldn't shoot back. He was defenseless, aside from his sidearm. What was, "unsporting", was the German pilot attempting to shoot and kill a virtually defenseless human being. That wasn't how things were done in WWI dogfights. Back then they had honor and wouldn't shoot a defenseless pilot and this is one of the themes in this movie, with the German pilot playing the bad guy.

  • That's called a pistol whipping.

  • @javvalovver - Pity you don't know English eh? I'd hate to see your personalized license plate.

  • P.S. even though there were no ALL red DR-1 triplanes in WW1 save one, I am like Charlesprev, the movie to me was fantastic and done very well indeed. The acting was superb and I've watched it over and over again. Also love the new Red Baron and 99% of that film was accurate indeed, only thing I saw wrong was Hawker was flying an SE.5 when Manfred killed him whereas in real life it was a DH-2, I still love any WW1 flicks. :)

  • @ccisbeast - In Flyboys the honorable German pilot Franz Wolfert was killed by Rawlings as well. If you remember right Rawlings remembered what Wolfert did by letting him go earlier cause he was now he was on his tail later on in the movie. However, Rawlings let him go at first then saw that it was Wolfert by his elmblem; unaware of his presence and was now diving on one of his own comrades so Rawlings had to re-engage him and put some rounds through him which shot him down. Hope this helps?

  • @punish907 reagrgergergergergergaegraegrgraaeg

  • Someone help me out here: there were two German aces in this movie, right? One of them had a red plane and he spared Rawlings (James Franco) the first time when his gun jammed, right? Then there's the Black Falcon, who was a douche and killed that guy on the ground after the first flight and got killed here.

What happened to the other (honorable) ace? I haven't seen this film in a while.

  • @ccisbeast gregreagregaergaergeragtregraegraegaregeragaerg

  • @ccisbeast He was shot down by Rawlings himself. Rawlings tried to spare him but when the german ace went after one of Rawling's friend, Rawlings hesitated but opened fire at the ace. Hard choice for Rawlings I guess.

  • that was no dog fight black hawk did all the air plane shooting

  • was für ein dämlicher und unrealistischer sch.....

  • Finally, a black guy makes it to the end...

  • Achievement Unlocked

  • This movie Is considered a below B rating movie that It Is now on Hulu but as far as entertaining I thought It was good but far as realistic I have Not seen any Hollywood movie about world war 1 flying that Is, Including The Blue Max, But Howard Hues, Hell's Angels has an Important message.

  • Now, even though some could say otherwise of this movie, I truly did enjoy it even with its inaccuracies, also,

    BOOM HEADSHOT

...my apologies, that kinda just slipped out

  • What a load of bullshit... is any american or british moviemaker even capable of making a realistic movie about ww1 or ww2. germans must have been the worst soldiers ever eh... bullshit

  • We didn't get to finish this in ROTC so thanks for posting it up.

  • Man this movie sucked.

    Nuff said.

  • Ty:)

Our s.s. Teacher had us watch this movie but blacked this out for ' violence' I was curious what happened!

  • well that was pretty retarded..

  • Where the hell were the protagonist´s partners while the German ace litterally "weaved him" with bullets? Were they watching the dogfight while eating some pop corns, as if they were in the cinema? So many happy (silly) faces once the German was over but I just cannot understand where were they nor what were they doing. What a fail scene and fail ending for a film that disappointed me a great deal...

  • It's just a freaking movie!! Quit disecting it and just let your imagination have fun with watching it.

If movies were 100% accurate, they would be as boring as your everyday lives.

  • @charlesprev Agreed, although I've never been in a dogfight, so if this movie was 100% accurate, it may be slightly more interesting than my everyday life =P

  • @charlesprev Don't confuse your life (apparently boring) with the lives of WW1 pilots with dozens of kills. A lot of people are still waiting for an accurate movie about this subject. Nevertheless, for some, it's a good thing this fast food/x-box generation / hollywood piece of .... exists.

  • @VUO4E You must have voted for obama...

  • @charlesprev 2 things -1) I can't vote for Obama, I don't live in the US. And that's a good thing. -2) I only vote for myself. Never trust politicians.

  • Dear Bullshit, I am writing this to tell you that Hollywood has once again failed. Another historically and logistically incorrect shit movie. Thank you.

    Love,

    Me

  • Shit, use your plane to fight man. not a pistol

  • @georg0829 It worked didn't it? Actually, that part in the movie was probably the only accurate part. Pilots used to to bring a pistol with them for killing the enemy and/or suicide to prevent from burning to death if the engine caught fire.

  • to make a shot like that would be impossible specialy going 120 mph the bullet would not be as accreute fail movie

  • well this is a very tough plane to crack:))

  • This scene is big... very big BULLSHIT!!!!!! No pilot is this smart and can do something like this. I mean, this was a 7,92mm bullet. Also this was an german Pilot, who SURVIVED the war (Josef Jacobs)!!! For everyone who like realistic movies about the worlds wars: never watch the Hollywood versions!!!

  • @Furorus2kGer Not to mention very unchivalrous. I agree...the BS factor is pretty high.

  • @Furorus2kGer shut the fuck up >_> u freaking nerd

  • this is my favourite movie!5/5!look cassidy's mmanovre at 1:19 !nice pilot!

  • I like this movie :) The atmosphere of duels is like horse dueling :D
