The whole realism argument is an artificial idea that has been created by anal-retentive individuals. At the heart of entertainment is suspension of disbelief. No matter how "real" it is, the fact is that no man of this time period is going to sing a loving ballad he wrote by himself. That's just a romantic fantasy. The "you can't" is because the voice doesn't fit with the orchestra.

@Danielnwa While entertainment can be seen in many ways, there are some things that honestly don't fit with other things. A mixing of heavy and light might work in some recipes (Albeit very few), but it music the sounds don't mesh well, because the heavy will just overpower the light.

Also, as an addition to that whole realism thing. I also don't think that an early 20s male in early Industrialized London had access to light auto-tune body mics.

And you've definitely got a point with the rendition thingy. I usually DO NOT like modern twists on classical compositions, but this case is different for me. I "feel it", I don't care so much about the aesthetical component here. I'm not so sure realism has much to do with my opinion here, it's about the heartfelt naive swagger...
