  • There's actually two recordings of Mehta with the NY Philharmonics - an older one from the seventies, which lacks recording quality (the bass drum and timpani are too washed out), and a newer one from the early nineties, which is of better technical quality, but sounds a bit more "dry" concerning the interpretation. The "Dancing out of the Earth" and the Sacrificial Dance from the 70's recording are the best ones I know.

  • What orchestra is this?

  • @clarinete09 Orchestra filarmónica della Scala. Milan, 2006 Mira debajo del vídeo ;)

  • I have Igor Stravinsky's own recording of this work- it might not be the best i some respects, but still there is something uniquely compelling about having the composer's own "interpretation".

  • There are far worse recordings than Salonen...trust me...and Dutoit is not the best recording. Dutoit will never have the best recording. I personally like this one along with Zubin Mehta and NY Phil.

  • @thetimpanikid I have Mehta and LA Phil (interesting ... coming around in a full circle?). Other's are more Aggressive than Mehta's, but he's the best for colour and atmosphere I'd say.

  • Before this I thought Salonen's the best ever interpretation. Now I'm confused.

  • @musoderelict Please... you have got to be kidding me! Salonen is perhaps the WORST version! The Best available on CD is Dutoit + MSO.

  • This is the scariest music I love!
